As part of my birthday treat holiday, we decided to spend 4 night in LA and knew that we wanted to stay in Santa Monica. Its an expensive place to book and I kept coming back to the Palihouse as I loved the location, close to the sea but quiet and safe. I gulped a bit at the price, but after much wailing and gnashing of teeth, decided to go for it. I'm very glad that we did as we had a lovely apartment with kitchen, perfect for the five of us. There was a view out over the cypress trees and little garden set back from the street. It is Spanish /Moroccan in style and I loved the dark gloom of the reception/bar in contrast to the bright sun outside. We didn't eat here, preferring the cafes and breakfast spots on Montana during the day and excellent restaurants like Wally's on Wilshire and Hillstone at night. A bit different, and a lovely place to start our trip.…
My husband and I made a last-minute reservation at Palihouse and were given their last available room. I had seen pictures on there Instagram so I knew I was in for a treat but I really had no idea how amazing this place would be. At check-in you walk through the impeccably designed lobby and sitting area. Every single corner of this hotel has been thoughtfully and beautifully decorated. So many cozy corners to sit and read or just enjoy the bougainvillea lined walkways. Spanish tile everywhere and vintage chandeliers...it’s just perfect. Check-in was a breeze and we were offered champagne at the bar. We were informed on how to order breakfast, what amenities they offer, and all the pertinent info for our stay. A quick elevator ride to our room and we were instantly charmed by the pink bathroom, the diptyque toiletries, the fireplace, the airy patio, a full-size Smeg fridge with McConnals ice cream in the freezer!!! We had a great and peaceful sleep and before we went to bed we put our breakfast order on the door. The next morning right on time we received our delicious breakfast and ate it while listening to the fountain below. It was pure relaxation from beginning to end and I was very sad to leave early the next day. We did not get to enjoy the free bikes or the pool but we did meander around a bit and snapped a few photos before we left. Palihouse is truly easy like Sunday morning and I will definitely be back to really soak up everything they have to offer.…
I laughed. I cried. It was better than "Hamilton"! Best place I've stayed in years. Very nostalgic building, professional and genuinely kind and helpful staff. Definitely going back. Thank you so much!!
This place is awful. I was initially in a first floor room. But there was a child running around in the unit above me, and sound carries in these old buildings. So they moved me to the 3rd floor without first explaining that the elevator was out of service. Adjacent to that room, there was a screaming baby. I checked out 2 nights early.
The Palihouse in Santa Monica is a jewel of a property. It’s an authentic Spanish building is a quiet but central location to Santa Monica’s best dining, shopping and beaches. If esthetics and service are important to you when traveling I would highly recommend the Palihouse. In addition it is private yet inviting and the front garden takes you where you want to be, whether it’s another era, your garden goal or new memories. It’s perfect for a locals staycation too. Thank you Palihouse for your hospitality to my family. We will definitely be coming back.
