This boutique hotel is a gem. The ambiance is quiet and serene when you walk in. Staff are very friendly. It's a great location with superb amenities. The continental breakfast is one of the best that we've had with fresh fruit and gourmet pastries. Rooms are immaculate with luxury bedding. It was a great stay for the whole family.

We stayed in this Hotel for seven nights as part of a Wedding Party, and found our stay to be very comfortable and pleasant. The newly remodeled, upscale, green, Eco-friendly, Boutique Hotel is off the beaten path, but right in the middle of a residential neighborhood, and has quite a few nice Restaurants within walking distance. This was great, as...

We have stayed in the Ambrose a coupe of times in previous years. We like this place because it is located conveniently close to Santa Monica, Westwood and is relatively short drive to Beverly Hills. There are many restaurants in the area. The Ambrose continues to offer a high quality place to stay. Its rooms are decorated tastefully; our room...

I stayed at the Ambrose for two nights. The hotel was clean, reasonable, but lacked atmosphere, and was far away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Santa Monica. The breakfast was minimal. Not a holiday type of hotel and I suspect that it gets most of its business from the nearby hospital and people on business trips. I personally...

Love the hotel and proximity to the Santa Monica beaches. The neighborhood is very nice. I wish they had more bikes as that is one thing I love about The Ambrose. (loaner bicycles) All in all, a great place if you can get a good price.

We went to the Ambrose based on the reviews. Quiet. Non touristy. Distanced from the chaos of Santa Monica. I was however disappointed. The staff were pleasant, but hard to find. Where was everyone? It was a unique and nice looking hotel. But a ghost town. Room service took 45 minutes. For a microwave hamburger pattie. And god awful microwaved...

The rooms are clean and big, the bad is comfy, there's an extra large shower and a huge TV. The breakfast is nice but I would expect more from such a hotel. Kind and helpful staff! It was the perfect hotel to finish our trip!

I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past year because of its closeness to St. John's hospital, where I receive my cancer treatments. Initially, everything was spot on, but lately I have to admit that some of the services have slipped, mainly the breakfast buffet and the complimentay hotel car. There were mornings where the coffee urn...

Stayed 1 night at short notice. Room was clean, spacious, well designed, good bathroom, good wi-if and large TV. Santa Monica pier is a 30-minute approx walk to and very easy and pleasant walk. Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
