Best hotel in LA. Came for a weekend stopover en route to Bora Bora to break up the travel. We came in with no expectation, more of a logistical decision to stay here, and were wildly impressed with everything about this hotel. Excellent service, food, vibes. 5 star++! Both restaurants are wonderful. Rooftop pool top-notch. We had no interest in exploring Santa Monica because nothing nearby is better than this hotel.
Superb service, beautiful property. Rooftop restaurant and bar has a great vibe and again, wonderful service. We also reserved an alcove for the day by the pool and although the weather wasn’t perfect, our experience was. Food was excellent. The gym is state of the art, everything you can possibly need. Bottom line, stay here. You won’t be disappointed!
Beautifully decorated modern hotel with service that is hard to default. Rooftop area fun. Basic room rates not bad but their added”Health and Wellness Surcharge” on top of everything is annoying, same goes for “Guests Amenity” fee. Nightly fee of 40 USD. Just ridiculous! Just add it to the price of the hotel room.
Wow, just wow. Everything about this hotel is amazing. The rooms are beautiful and the pool is amazing, but the thing I appreciated most was the staff! Everyone is so kind and helpful! Yeah it’s pricey, but what would you expect for a 5-star hotel in Santa Monica?!
If you like beautiful spaces, friendly , helpful people, beautiful people and good food stay here. The decor is contemporary and warm and stunning. The staff is super friendly and responsive. The rooftop bar ( you can watch the airport or glimpse the ocean) pool, restaurant is a cool place to hang out in. It’s nice they have a separate area just for the guests. The rooms are spacious and for a design savvy person efficiently laid out and aesthetically wonderful. Loved staying here.
I love this hotel for so many reasons, but their staff is "on point" and these days, that is hard to find. Everyone from Valet, to Housekeeping, to F&B Food Service. They always go above and beyond for my "visits" and I always leave looking at my calendar, ready to book the next trip. This hotel is pure gold!! Such a gem and a special treat.
- Family trip: 2 adults, 3 young children. Booked 2 joining rooms for a few days. - Location: convenient and central enough. Valet parking at the property - expensive but easy to manage and staff is courteous and relatively prompt. - Hotel and Rooms: beautiful space, modern and well kept throughout the property. Rooms and bathrooms were tasteful, and spacious. Noise level was low despite there being a lot of people staying there. Services was excellent. - On Site Dining: 2 main restaurants on the premises (Palma, the lounge, and Calabra, a rooftop Mediterranean spot by the pool). Both are excellent albeit expensive. The service staff is very courteous and attentive. We had 6 meals at the property and they were all enjoyable. Young children were accommodated just fine for which we were grateful. - Billing and After Stay Customer Service: Disappointing experience. We were supposed to receive dining credits (Amex + a promotion the hotel itself was running) and only got partial credit due to how we were billed across the rooms. Frustrating back and forth over email with them to no avail (they eventually stopped responding to my questions) and I gave up on the credits. A remarkably poor customer service experience which consisted largely of them telling me I was wrong without explaining the matter. This ain't the Four Seasons! - Other nits: Wifi is spotty in the rooms. Perfectly fine to check email but don't expect a lot more. TLDR: upscale property and rooms, decent location, terrific wait and service staff, good dining options assuming one isnt budget constrained, and assume you are out of luck if something goes wrong or you heed help/support after the stay. Would have been 4-4.5 stars were it not for the annoyance factors outlined above.…
My time at the proper hotel was absolutely amazing. The hotel was beautiful, the staff was incredibly kind and helpful, especially the manager Steve. Will definitely be recommend and will be returning. 10/10 experience
Fantastic hotel, has fun people and has the best views. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. I've personally have stayed at Proper many, many times. I absolutely love it! Ask for Steve; he is the best manager. :)
Beautiful hotel in the middle of a dystopia. Walking around outside this hotel you'll encounter countless drug addicts collapsed in doorways or swaying across the sidewalks, many with severe mental health problems. The nearby beach is covered in tents for homeless and the streets smell of human waste. Scary and disturbing! Consequently, we spent more time in the hotel than we had planned. The restaurant charges insane amounts for microscopic amounts of food and mindless techno music is blaring from inescapable speakers. As a touring musician I have no idea why they cant vary the music and play some jazz or slightly more cerebral, interesting music just occasionally. Everywhere you look, the lip filler brigade are taking selfies and the pool, which is open to non-residents, gets full of porn actors and prostitutes. Not recommended if you're travelling with kids! I would avoid Santa Monica all together and head to Hollywood or, even better, Santa Barbara.…
