From the moment we were greeted by valet until the time we checked out all of the staff made us feel like VIPS. The customer service was exceptional. We received a welcome amenity for my boyfriend’s birthdays. The meals were so good! The best chicken sandwich for dinner and the French toast was heavenly. The beach cruiser rental was a nice amenity to have access to. Oceana exceeded our expectations. Thank you!

My wife and i just returned from the Oceana and were totally pleased with every part of our hotel experience. We are Hilton Diamond members so we get to experience many Hilton properties. We were greeted at the front desk by Lily who was so warm and sincere. She acknowledged our Diamond level, offered us cold bottles of water, explained breakfast times and many other parts of the hotel. Mario (Valet) quickly took our bags to our upgraded suite (courtesy of GM Young Yoon). Mario explained the workings of the room and placed our bags on luggage stands. The staff is constantly asking what can they do for you and really mean it. We also had great staff experiences with Melody and Jennifer (front desk), Lenny (valet), Frankie and staff in the restaurant and many housekeepers. Our suite felt like our own home with plush wall to wall carpeting, one of the most comfortable Hilton beds we have ever slept on, two large (65" & 60" ) TV's, one wall of books to read and a huge bathroom. I eat oatmeal every morning for breakfast and I can honestly say the oatmeal I received each morning at the Oceana was the best I have every had!! We felt like we were staying with family. The staff is simply out of sight! The hotel is directly across the street from the Pacific and very well maintained beaches with walking paths on the beach and at street level. GM Young Yoon referred us to 4 restaurants during our stay which all turned out to be terrific! Young was trained at a Switzerland hotel school and it shows! He is the consummate professional. When my wife and I had to check to return home we both did not want to leave. We were made to feel so special like no other hotel experience we ever had. Oceana only has 70 rooms/suites and for us it didn't feel like the typical cookie cutter large property. The pool is heated and as soon as someone would vacate their pool lounge chairs someone on the staff would quickly tidy up the area and place fresh new towels on each chair. If you want to feel spoiled the Oceana is for you. We cannot wait to return.

This was my first time staying at this Hilton location; and it exceeded my expectations. Located a few blocks down from many of the other hotels, the Oceana is directly across the street from the walk-way down to the beach. It is located in a slightly more quiet section of Santa Monica, with ivy growing along the walls - it almost has a 50s kind of vibe out the outside, reminiscent of the glory days of Hollywood. We arrived on a Tuesday, was immediately greeted as Hilton Diamond members, and was offered an upgrade into a beautiful king room room... thoroughly immaculate and modern, and wonderfully decorated... No TV on top of the usual dresser; instead a giant screen TV on a pole set perfectly to watch while in bed or on the sitting bench in front of the large window that overlooked a treed neighborhood, with a slight view of the ocean. The pool area is perfect, though there is no hot tub- but I attribute this to the intentional decision of the management to provide a quiet, truly relaxing place to unwind and not be bothered by the constant barrage of screaming kids or unruly adults in the hot tub... (At most of the places we've recently been staying, it seems like the hot tub area of the resort had become a place where you have to fight off the loud and rude behavior of others... ok - I'll get off my soapbox) This small resort is PERFECT for couples and singles; who want a more quiet/intimate place for rest, relaxation, and romance. It seems that the management has definitely created many places within the resort to get out and enjoy good conversation; and yet at the same time meet other people and strike up good conversation. It's an eclectic mix of young and old who stay here - many who have lived and traveled outside the US extensively. I want to commend the staff who work at this resort (and especially Avante and Melody) - their attention to detail is outstanding. We arrived at 2 pm (well before normal check - in); and they told us the upgraded room would be ready shortly. We took a walk, came back an hour later; and the room wasn't ready. The previous couple had a later check out than expected, and the cleaning staff was still in there. But, instead of dismissing us - they apologized profusely; and took us to the pool area and provided us with two complimentary glasses of champagne and any appetizer as we waited for our room to be ready. NOW THAT IS SERVICE; and shows a genuine respect and concern for its customers. BTW - the pepperoni pizza was delicious. I think it's also important to note that the hotel is immaculate; being cleaned constantly. My husband put an empty bottle of wine outside our door; and within a half an hour it was gone. He said, "Wow, this is how a resort should be run." Thank you Oceana staff and management for a great stay, and your attention to detail. I

I feel conflicted about writing a negative review, because the people who work here were lovely. The location is lovely. But the hotel charges too much for what they offer. This is a glorified Hilton - like a run-down Hilton with a nice paint job. The room: It photographs pretty well, but you can't see that much of the furniture has little stains, the floors are all a little run down. The towels and robes are old. The mini fridge rattled and made loud noises. We had to unplug it to sleep. The guests above us were audible through the hotels very thin construction. If we wanted to turn off lights, we also had to turn off the temperature control. That was crazy. All of this said, the staff is very friendly. They give you free coffee - more like a Hilton and less like a resort. I've stayed at a number of luxury hotels. I'm used to little hidden fees all over the place, and this place is no exception. That said, They add a 20% tip ("for your convenience") to room service when the prices are already set at a level more than adequate to pay staff. I'm happy to add $10-$20 for someone to drop food off at my door, but a mandatory $50 tip (Dinner for two was over $200 without alcohol) is too much. They also add a "tray fee" when they bring room service, which I guess means they're also charging you for the tray they bring the food on - and then take away immediately. Haha! The diner was excellent. The extra charges not so much. Breakfast: The first morning we ate breakfast, some of the food was delicious, but the Fritata was horrible. The mushrooms were sour (tasted like they came pickled in a can or something) and the eggs were like rubber foam. Very strange texture. Again - 20% tip for room service, so our $100 breakfast was really $120 plus "tray fee." Also worth noting: Every time we called down to the front desk or room service we had to try two or more times before someone would pick up. There are lots of great hotels in Santa Monica. I recommend trying one of the other ones.

The attention to detail here was exquisite. From the attentive front desk staff to the super friendly and helpful bartenders (hi, Frankie!), you always feel well taken care of. The hotel offers free bikes and that was an awesome amenity to take advantage of.
