Over the span of just two nights, this hotel easily became one of my favorite Hilton family properties. Every aspect of our stay was truly outstanding but what really stood out was the staff. The service we received throughout the property was warm, inviting and welcoming! It is clear this hotel team is dedicated to the providing a great guest experience. We did not want for anything during our stay. I cannot wait to return!
The staff at the Oceana Santa Monica makes every guest feel welcome - from our first visit through our most recent. There are always warm welcomes from the valet staff upon arrival through the front desk for check-in and the restaurant and lounge during the visit. The hotel is perfectly staffed for the scale and size of the property to give appropriate attention to every guest. We have stayed 4 times so far in 2022, and would like to commend the staff - each and every person we have had the pleasure to meet. The valet staff: Lenny, the manager, made wonderful recommendations for our experiences in LA, and was always ready to help; Cesar, who is an exceptionally mature and thoughtful young man who really stood out among the team; Cham Sean Mario And I know I am forgetting others, and they are all excellent! At the front desk: Nathan Victoria Krystal Melody Some others whose names I don't recall At the restaurant venues: Sarah, who is absolutely the hardest working most gregarious person who chipped in with wait staff and others to make sure no detail regarding anyone's experience was overlooked, Nery Alyssa and some others I don't recall. Also, weekend guests are treated to exceptional musical performances by David Aldo, an extremely talented male vocalist, whose voice is wonderful and musical selections perfect for setting the tone as we watched the sunset from the intimate 3rd floor lounge.…
This review is a long time coming. I was very hurt by an incident that happened at this hotel. Being handicapped is hard enough as it is, but to have a hotel not be able to accommodate your disability is heartbreaking. First off they have stairs leading to the lobby. They do have a make shift lift at the side of the building that was supposed to accommodate me. While mid rise, the lift got stuck. The management didn’t know what to do. As I waited claustrophobically, I started to feel weak. They luckily found a step later and I had to be pulled up. It was embarrassing and scary. I used my Hilton points to stay the night and after the incident I didn’t want to leave my room, so I got another night; so as to build up strength to go out again. When I informed them that I would stay another night, they offered no apology or even a slight discount on the second nights stay. Nothing. I was left shaken by this incident and it has taken me awhile to recover, hence this late review. I hope the powers that be fix the problems that affect the disabled wanting to stay at this hotel.…
We just stayed at the Oceana Santa Monica to celebrate my mom’s 80th birthday. Mom has mobility issues, the wheelchair lift helped greatly. The bell stand staff were so friendly and helpful with mom getting in and out of the car. The hotel upgraded the two nights stay to an oceanfront suite which truly made it special for my mom. She was able to enjoy an ocean view from her own room. The location of the hotel is perfect on Ocean Ave. I would definitely stay there again
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent 3-night stay. We loved the California beach design and our room was beautiful and comfortable. The location is perfect - walking distance to the beach but out of the crazy scene near the pier. We had two delicious meals at the restaurant. But the best part was the staff. Chamron made us feel welcome from our first arrival and every time we saw him throughout our stay. Other standouts: Joshua and Tory at the front desk, Sarah at the pool and restaurant, Antonio at breakfast, and Cesar at the valet station. We had one small problem with our bill and Emily took care of it immediately. We appreciate everyone who made our stay so wonderful and we're already planning a return visit for my birthday!
Thought the hotel was beautiful, but their bill was very confusing upon check out. It had Meal, meal tax, drinks, drinks tax, tip, tip tax etc Only upon leaving and checking bill did I discover they had charged me for two separated breakfasts (over $100) for the same morning. I called and they did credit eventually but shouldn't have to deal with this in the first place. I echo other people's comments that as a Diamond member they only grudgingly gave us a 12pm "late" checkout.
The hotel is in a perfect location in Santa Monica. It does have the closest access to the walk way to beach of all the hotels on Ocean Avenue. The room and amenities were excellent including the pool and on-site restaurant . The staff was attentive and went out of their way to make our stay even better which is helped by this being a smaller boutique hotel rather than a large resort. We usually stay at the Fairmont down the street which is a good large resort if that is what you want. The general manager Emily was always around and at the front desk ready to help with any request which she did many times during our stay. As Hilton Diamond and Hyatt Globalist members we have found we usually get better upgrades though Hyatt except here. We were upgraded from our base room to an 850 square foot one bedroom suite poolside. The kids loved the easy access to the pool and would swim throughout the day. The only things I would mention is that the restaurant and bar prices are comparable to other hotels in the area which is pricey but expected. Also they do include a 20% gratuity which I didn’t have a problem with since the service was always excellent. We plan to stay here for all our future trips to Santa Monica.…
Oceana tries hard. However, they fall short. The property is beautiful and well maintained. The valets are incredibly helpful and have great recommendations. They offer waters and always hold the door. I loved that they had complimentary bikes to use and we rode all the way to Venice Beach one day! The front desk employees are so-so and often were condescending and dismissive. They were not able to honor a late check out (we are Diamond status, so I was surprised) and I did request an ice bucket, which didn't show up until I reminded the front desk employee. The service isn't great. Like I said, they try hard, but I was often times waiting 20-30 minutes for drinks at the pool. The servers are friendly enough, but the wait time was irritating, especially because outside drinks are not allowed at the pool. We had the cheese board at the pool one day though and were very impressed with the quality and portions for the price. The most frustrating thing about Oceana is that they allow guests that have already checked out to use the amentias. On day two, we left our belongings at the pool and came back about a half hour later and someone was sitting on our day bed at the pool. I was blown away, because that guest did not have a room for the night, but was able to take our day bed and also bring her children to use the pool. I went to the front desk and all my belongings were packed behind the counter. However, my expensive beach coverup was conveniently missing. We spoke to several other (three full families) that were given a late check out (12:30p), but didn't leave the property until around dinner time. This should not be allowed at a "luxury" resort, especially when they are able to sit at the pool and drink water, as we are racking up a $300 bill and getting our belongings moved when we go for a short walk. The children screaming in the pool at the top of their lungs at 9pm really was the icing on the cake on the first night. The last day, we decided to eat breakfast at the restaurant on site. I was given the wrong order. I waited 20 additional minutes for my two eggs to come out and they were a very interesting orange color. I did not eat them, our waitress never came back and checked on us, and we STILL had to tip her 20% because it was included in the bill. As stated before, the service lacks. So, would I recommend Oceana? Probably not. Would I go back? Again, probably not. I was excited for this trip and left feeling disappointed.…
The location near the beach in Santa Monica is great. But I’m perplexed by all the glowing reviews for a hotel that charges a fortune for what are, mostly, very small, under-equipped rooms – few of which have any sort of view. Hilton Diamond members should expect no real benefit, apart from the $25 food credit and two small bottles of water. My “Diamond” room was tiny – no room for a desk, apparently – with a view onto the dingy neighboring apartment building 10 feet away. (The hotels itself is a renovated apartment building, I’m guessing.) My late check-out “benefit” as a Diamond member meant I could have an additional hour to leave – until noon – and that was given only grudgingly. I will certainly not be returning.
I brought my new fiancé here after proposing to her on our flight to Los Angeles. I needed a place that was perfect, a place that was in a beautiful location without being overly crowded. High end without feeling fake or like a carbon copy of other higher end hotels. Oceana delivered on every aspect and more. From the moment we walked in and were warmly welcomed and given a tour of the property by Joshua who is an absolute gem of a human, the tour concluded with him walking us to our room! The team had setup champagne, rose petals and towel swans! The communication, the small touches, the rooftop lounge with the amazing views! Everything was perfect and out engagement night went off without a hitch!
