Contemporary, beach decor with a mid century throwback. Our room overlooked the front so we awoke to palm trees and blue sea. Who needs to get on a plane and fly to an island with this right here. Best things: spacious rooms, fabulous breakfast included and very comfortable king bed and yummy complimentary chocolate almonds. Need to address: better mattress... More

Very fun, smaller property right on Ocean and looking into the Pacific Ocean. The staff were all very nice. Food is good as well, but a bit pricey. You enter your room from an outdoor corridor, but that is within the inside part of the hotel. The building is U shaped with the pool in the middle. Nice place.

In spite of the smiling reception staff and the chic beach house decor and the yoga on the beach, it is hard to sleep soundly here because the walls are paper thin! I could hear my neighbors plumbing every time they turned on a faucet or flushed a toilet, I could hear them talking even in a conversational voice, I... More

I'd never heard of Oceana nor stayed so far up Santa Monica beach, I can recommend both! The rooms at the Oceana are big and really lovely. The staff are delightful. The pool is great. The food could be better but there are plenty of restaurants around.

Nice place, but considerably over priced. $40-something dollars for a run-of-the-mill breakfast buffet, and $8 for an espresso. The rooms are quite roomy, and the greenery around the property is beautiful. Just over priced.

I stayed here on my honeymoon and we were upgraded to a, simply stunning, suite. The room was huge with a fantastic view of the ocean. We had a lounge, bedroom, balcony, and amazing bathroom. The pool was very nice and great to laze by. It was walking distance to 3rd Street Promenade with loads of great shops and restaurants.... More

we have been visiting LA for 20 years and stayed in all the top hotels. Oceana is now our favourite. Most relaxing! Unpretentious, yet with excellent friendly service (front desk superb - could not have been more helpful). Our suite was super comfortable and food in the restaurant very good.

The rooms were pleasant enough, the staff expectedly unctuous, but the overall impression was flawed by details. The first floor corner room was noisy not only from the street but also poor sound insulation from the sumo match being held in the room above. The lighting was controlled by a panel where nothing was labelled. And I really dislike standing... More

We booked this hotel three months in advance, on arrival we went through the check in process and were told that the room would be ready in 30mins. We were then told that the room had been double booked, then the story changed to the room having water damage. Our travel agent confirmed that the room had been double booked.... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
