I was blown away by the location. This motel is surrounded by large, high end hotels right by the beach. The price and location can't be beat! Clean rooms! Walk to the beach! Best stay on a budget!! Friendly staff! What else can you ask...More
Great location, clean rooms, with wide beds and restrooms. The personal are efficient and nice. Wonderful experience. Not far from the beach and in walking distance to Santa Monica pier. Near to laundry and to a wonderful cafe, Urth Cafe. Expect some noise, though, especially friday...More
We scheduled a girls weekend in Santa Monica and have a friend who stays at this Motel every time she goes there to see her son at school. We stayed in room 41 which appears to have been a one bedroom apartment at one time....More
Stayed here after reading recommendations from the most seasoned experts on Trip Advisor. We came to see LA over 5 days and thought it would make a good home base despite LA traffic. Could not have been any better and greatly exceeded our expectations.
Clean, convenient, friendly. Not fancy. We had a wedding in the area. We were able to walk and see the area, we visited Santa Monica pier and Venice. It is cLose to the beach, quaint shops and restaurants. We enjoyed sitting on the deck in...More
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller
coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.

It is not at all close or convenient to Hollywood or Universal. LA is very spread out and traffic is horrendous. I did the four hour tour as well, just for an overview and found it plenty. The stop at Universal was very brief, however, so not really enough time if you want to see more. Perhaps one of the two day, hop-on, hop-off tours would work for you to visit all the places at your leisure.
