We were excitet to stay at the Shutters, but were very disappointed. Our two rooms were dark and very small. No balcony, no view...one of them had a view to a public parking lot ! Hotel was fully booked, they have some kinds of Events all the time and the Restaurants, bar and Lobby are way too small. No outdoor sitting...

The Shutters is a great place for families. It is right on the beach in Santa Monica. The location is awesome and very close to the pier with his amusement park and fun at the muscle beach. It is easy to rent bikes and has even some umbrellas if you fancy being lazy at the beach. The pool is a...

I stayed here recently for a business meeting. Terrific location! Right on the beach, with a good (but crowded-ish) pool area. The rooms were "upscale beach house chic" in style; very nice. The gym was dark, but what the heck; run on the beach! I would say this isn't a great hotel for the business traveler. I had a hard...

I was worried about taking four boys to a place that looked to be more of a couples' get away, but I was wrong. Shutters was extremely accomodating and welcoming to kids and we had a great stay. Beautiful restaurants, great location, lovely pool, and friendly staff made it the perfect vacation spot for our family.

We booked an ocean view room for the end of Feb. for friends at $820 per night. When they arrived, there was noisy construction that made opening the sliding doors overlooking the ocean very unpleasant, and continually disturbed the pleasure of their stay. We were not advised of the construction in advance - inexcusable at any hotel, let alone one...

My husband and I stayed here last weekend... We were very excited to see this beautiful hotel as it was very highly recommended to us...unfortunately, when we booked this weekend we were not advised that it was Nickolodean Kids Weekend at the hotel!!! This was very evident to my husband and I the minute we arrived in the lobby, as...

This place gets everything just right. Beautiful rooms with lots of nice little extras- it's those little details that make you feel like you're at someone's home, more than a hotel. Several excellent restaurants, good sea food & steaks. Outstanding service all round. The only small downside is paying the bill- it is not for the thrifty wallet- $1000 a...

Shutters has a great position on the Santa monica beach with a staff that is dedicated to giving the best service ! The restaurants are excellent both with an ocean view! You can sun by the pool and have a lobster roll without getting off the lounge chairs! There is also a beach chair service, and you can rent bikes...

We stayed 4 nights with 3 nights costing over $800 and fourth night costing over $1000. We were prepared to pay this for what was described by friends as a classical, older hotel with charm. We booked a room with sea view and balcony. What they omitted to tell us about was the building site just outside our window, between...

Me and my girlfriend visited shutters today and I have to say that the staff was really polite and accommodate us to the terrace. We got few glass of rose wine, and one mojito. Then I got linguini Alle vongole really good eventhought they brought us tagliolini instead of linguini pasta. We got a crab salad so fresh and tasty...

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
