A lovely Italian style victorian guest house just across the street from the pier and boardwalk with ocean views and really fine breakfasts. There's a wine and cheese hour at 4pm and the staff is very accommodating. They had complimentary parking onsite and we felt no need to get in the car since the Inn is situated in the heart of the beachside attractions.

Called West Cliff to plan a last-minute weekend getaway. We were not disappointed. Most places like this have a 2-night minimum but we were able to book one night. It was the perfect break we needed to get our minds off of work and COVID for a minute.
We stayed in the beach bungalow unit which is outside the main building, but it was a well-appointed room with a very nice bathroom and large shower.
Breakfast service to the door in the morning was a nice touch.

We had a great time staying at the Westcliff Inn! When we arrived we were offered wine and cheese which we ate on our balcony on the 2nd floor. The spread was delicious and the wine was good quality. The room was a great size and the bed was super comfy! We loved the location as well- right next to the ocean and the boardwalk and some great restaurants that did pick up or delivery. We have already recommended this place to several friends and can't wait to be back!

We stayed for one night on a Sunday. We brought our small (10-lb) dog and had their dedicated "dog room" reserved. This is a tiny bungalow in the back parking lot, a few feet from the main house. The bathroom was spacious, the rest was pretty small. I wondered how those with even a medium sized dog managed to squeeze in here. Beside being in this "broom closet" of a room, you got none of the ambiance of the actual inn. As breakfast was served in the rooms (due to Covid), you didn't get to enjoy the dining room. Plus, your food was portioned out for you. As there was no room to really eat, I had to have my food in my lap in the bed, and my husband ate standing up. The food was okay-typical B and B fair but not great (my muffin was a bit stale). The staff is extremely friendly and courteous, and beverages and candy are always available. I enjoyed the wine and cheese in the afternoon. Once again, having to take it to our broom closet room and eat it there. I expect once Covid reduces and guests can enjoy eating in the dining room and parlor, the experience here will be better. Cleanliness is exceptional! The house and our room were immaculate. I just did not feel that $300 on a Sunday night in October seemed justified for the bungalow room. I will try again when we can come without our dog and stay in one of the rooms that's actually in the house.

Once in a while you come across a great little inn or B&B, well this is it. I cannot say a single thing against this little gem. Check in is a breeze because of pre check in email that is sent to you before you arrive, a lovely lady just hands you your key & gives you the biggest welcome. My room which was a beach view king was on the 2nd floor facing the street with a small deck with chairs. The room is beautifully decorated, large with a nice chair in front of the window. The bathroom is great, lots of room & a shower but no tub. Snacks are served to you in the afternoon, a small cheese & cracker plate with wine or sparkling water, they also have a fride with soda & water in it for you. Breakfast is a treat, brought up to your room in a picnic basket....you fill out a card the night before with you choices & there are a lot of them & it seems always includes a "house made" small hot dish. This place is truly a gem, it is very close to the harbor front so it is right in the middle of things. I would come back to Santa Cruz just to stay here.

We are frequent guests at Four Sister Inns, but have never been to this inn. We stayed for one night in the beach view room for my birthday. It was a smaller room, but had a really great view of the beach and fireplace. We picked the room because of the fireplace but were really disappointed that the fireplace did not work and nothing was done to fix it despite text communications with the manager.

Overall, the inn is beautiful and in a really great location. The boardwalk and pier are steps away. There is a common area balcony outside of the beach view window, which I was worried might be noisy, but no one else used the balcony, so we had it all to ourselves. There is traffic outside the window, so if you are a light sleeper, you may want to get a room on the back end of the inn.

Our room was ready early, which was awesome. They provide wine and a cheese and cracker plate that was really delicious. Also, the breakfast was yummy with great portions.

Would come back once the fireplace is repaired.

We are not typically B&B people because we like more privacy than most B&B’s provide, at least in our opinion. But we decided to give it a try and we are glad we did. It was above all expectations. We were jet legged when we arrived so we took a short nap. We missed happy hour, but the girl at the desk knew we were tired so she saved us some wine and food. Our room was not huge, but more than adequate. It was clean with a fireplace and updated bath. The inn itself is a charming old house with a large comfortable living room and dining room. We ate breakfast in our hotel supplied bathrobes, just like home. The breakfast was not your typical conventional cereal and bagels. They served flatbread and eggs, a variety of fresh baked breads, juices and fruit as well as coffee and several sweets. We enjoyed it so much we tried to book it again on our way back to the SF airport, but they were full. We go to Carmel annually. We will now make the West Cliff Inn a part of our pilgrimage

We recently stayed at the Inn. It was conveniently located within walking distance to Santa Cruz wharf and boardwalk. The staff was helpful but not super friendly. We were in room 3 which had a beautiful view of the bay. The room was a very nice size. . Although there was no air conditioning and the room was warm when we arrived, it cooled down with the open windows and the fan. I was worried about noise from the street but this really wasn’t a problem. The bathroom was spacious and had a slight smell of bleach. The room was super clean. We missed the wine and cheese but they did have cookies which were good. Parking was tight but available. Breakfast was mostly cold Items but there was a good hot egg casserole. The food in the buffet was plenty filling and mostly organic. I did also like that they had cold water available in the breakfast area at all times. Would stay there again.

What a charming spot in the perfect location. My husband and I came to Santa Cruz to meet family and friends and stayed at the West Cliff Inn for three nights. The Inn was set up on a hill overlooking the ocean as well as the lively boardwalk area that makes Santa Cruz festive and unique. There's a great walking path right outside of the hotel, allowing me to stroll along the water every morning, listening to the sounds of the "barking" seals. Our room was comfortable and spacious. It had a delightful private balcony with lounge chair and small table where we could enjoy our morning coffee and take in the heavenly cool ocean breezes. The bathroom was larger than normal hotel size, with generous counter space and a large tub/shower. Every morning, a delicious breakfast was served which we enjoyed sitting on the front porch of the Inn. Although in a bustling part of town, the Inn was like a little oasis, perhaps because it was set above street level to be more private. The staff was friendly and helpful. One evening, I was disappointed to find no more fresh homemade chocolate chip cookies in the lobby (yes, they have them every day). Noting my disappointment, the delightful desk person, Charlotte, knocked on my room door a few minutes later with a cookie wrapped in a napkin. She had found me the last cookie and wanted me to have it! So incredibly sweet and thoughtful. I highly recommend the West Cliff Inn to anyone looking for quality and charm in the heart of Santa Cruz. We will definitely return.

I could have sworn I posted a review if West Cliff Inn not that long after we came back from our trip but I just now see that I didn't! Don't let the delay fool you! West Cliff Inn was one of the best places I've stayed and at a reasonable price. The room was comfortable and had a view of the beach, breakfast was delivered to your room in a cute insulated picnic basket, a selection of beverages were available in the main area of the inn, there was a wine hour with a personalized bag of crackers, cheeses, fruit, and cookies to have with your wine wherever you wanted to enjoy it. We even saved one of our bags in the fridge for later on in our trip and enjoyed it during our hike through Point Lobos in Carmel. The staff was wonderful and helpful. I dropped my beanie somewhere between the car and our room and I got a text later asking if I was missing a beanie because the front desk associate remembered that I was wearing one. They even text you before you arrive to see if there is anything you might need during your stay. And they will send a text reminding you of wine hour and to mark your breakfast selection and drop it off. We really enjoyed our stay and will keep them in mind for your next trip up that way.

So sorry for the delay in our response. We do have one "dog friendly" guestroom, located separate from the main house. Please contact the inn directly to discuss availability. We hope we can welcome you soon.
