Stayed here overnight to attend a birthday party in Santa Cruz. This place is so cute. The rooms are beautiful and charming. It is just a few steps away from the beach. There are many sitting areas around the grounds. Very quiet area. We highly recommend staying here. Staff was helpful & friendly!
Our group of five ladies came to Santa Cruz Friday evening for a long weekend getaway, only to discover that the house we had rented had not been cleaned and was a huge mess. It really was not fit for us to stay. In addition, we had reservations at Shadowbrook in two hours! My sister and I both got on our phones and called around to various places in the area looking for somewhere that could accomodate us all for the night. Many places had no rooms, of course, and one very well-known place that we called hung up on us, we think due to lack of organization and staffing issues. I called and talked to Dawn, who was so helpful and got us situated with two rooms that fit our group perfectly. We quickly drove over and were so enamored with the quaint, updated, New England vibe of the place. Our rooms were very nice, had everything we needed, and even had ocean views, all for a very reasonable price. We made it to our dinner reservation on time, and were transported in the Shadowbrook taxi shuttle since we were now staying within their distance radius (even better!). It could not have worked out more perfectly. So thankful to Dawn and everyone at Ocean Echo Inn. We will definitely be back and will tell our friends. Truly a hidden gem of Santa Cruz!…
My company just had our first ever retreat at Ocean Echo. The accommodations were lovely and being just steps from a secluded cove on the beach made for some great down-time experiences. We all enjoyed having the continental breakfast each morning out on the deck with an ocean view! Someone on the staff even baked us a fresh banana/chocolate chip loaf. All 12 of us also fit quite comfortably on the deck for various meetings. Everyone on staff was extremely friendly and they went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed for our stay, even going so far as to accept some early packages for us. When someone on our team left a shirt behind, they reached out to let me know and then shipped it back to that person the same day. I would definitely return for another visit, either with my company or for a family vacation!…
Definitely not worth the price they charged for a room with clogged bathroom sink, old beds hard as a rock and a musty dirty room. Quaint looking but will not return. I was hoping for coastal character as I grew up with that but this was not the character I was looking for.
This was a very quaint, clean, modest hotel. We loved that the cottage had it's own little kitchenette, living space, and separate bedroom. It was perfect for us, our daughter, and our dog. The walk to the beach was literally 1-2 minutes away -- and we enjoyed the shared deck with our friends, as well as a bonfire. This may be our go-to place whenever we come to the Santa Cruz area! Only two things I would add for improvement: one would be for them to bring back their complimentary continental breakfast in the form of a grab-and-go option; second would be for them to try flipping the mattress - ours was sagging a bit on one side, making it noticeably lopsided. Staff was friendly. Location was top notch!
Best Dog Friendly Inn steps away from the beach. The room had a cute layout filled with modern furniture, appliances, and decor. The Ocean Echo Inn & Beach Cottages was a breath of fresh air! 10/10 - highly recommend
This charming small hotel is nestled on a hillside on a quiet one-way street and only steps away from a secluded beach. The room was nicely appointed and immaculate and served our needs perfectly. The staff was refreshingly personable and unhesitatingly helpful in providing good advice and assistance on several matters. I often stay at hotels throughout the US and internationally, and am pleased to report that Ocean Echo Inn stands in the top 1 percent of the many hotels I have stayed in.
Recently refurbished, this wonderful gem is exceptional. In addition to the location with its own private cove access, the general manager /innkeeper was most accommodating for a late arrival which was truly appreciated. She reached out before arrival to welcome me. Exceptional service! Hope visit again in August for a longer stay.
Great place to stay. Very clean and staff was very helpful. This place is new so bring your own cooking supplies. They have bare minimum when it comes to cooking supplies. Minute walk to the beach and is a nice size for a family.
My husband and I and 2 small children had a great time here for 3 nights. The cottages are clean and close to the beach and restaurants. The kitchen is stocked with a small number of kitchen utensils/plates/Bowles, but no other items. The office staff was very helpful and very friendly. Victoria was super helpful when making the reservation and the other staff member even offered to help take us to the airport. Great place
