My family (4) and mother in law stayed here for three nights over the 4th of July holiday in the family suite (two queen beds and one full sized bed.) After reading a lot of reviews I was kind of hesitate to book, but since my mother in law was going to bring her dog, we didn't have many options. We arrived Sunday late afternoon and traffic was horrible. When we finally reached the hotel there was no parking at the office so we had to park in a handicapped zone (I know, I know.) We walked into the office and were helped by two men to check in. Check in was easy, $100 refundable deposit, parking pass provided, and they explained where they had more parking behind the hotel. I brought up that we prepaid for the pet deposit but my mother in law didn't bring her dog, one of the men said no problem, we will issue the refund. I checked my credit card statement later that night and it was already pending (excellent customer service!) The room was on the third floor in the corner (no view.) After reading the reviews I was expecting the room to be dirty, however, it was clean and smelled nice as well. My wife and I were actually very surprised how nice it was in there. The beds are older and you can hear the springs when you move around, but other than that, they were comfortable. It had a pretty good sized TV, mini refrigerator, some drawers, a few hangers, and a knock off Keurig coffee maker. No iron or ironing board, I'm not sure if that's offered if I would had called them. No phone in the room which was weird. The only issue we had with the room was the second day the toilet got clogged and I had to call the office (using my cell) and the girl that answered said the plunger was under the sink. I was able to get that taken care of myself. The hotel is across from the large boardwalk parking area. If you walk fast, you can easily get to the front of the boardwalk in a few minutes. With strollers/kids, 5-7 minutes tops. This was a huge advantage staying so close, we never paid for parking ($30.) Overall, we all enjoyed our vacation and we would stay here again. Don't let the negative reviews keep you from booking here. It seems like the owner/managers have heard the negative feedback and have fixed the issues. Is this a five star hotel, absolutely not, it's older and needs some more love, but for the price and how close it is, you really can't beat it. I couple comments for the owners/managers. I don't know if our room didn't have a phone for a reason, but I guess I'm old school and wanted to press zero to get someone. You should also look into renting out boogie boards/beach chairs for your guests. We had beach chairs, but having a option to get a boogie board for the day would had been awesome.…
