We had an excellent stay! We live in Silicon Valley and go to Santa Cruz all the time. Occasionally we stay overnight. We have tried a few places and I loved Ocean Pacific Lodge. I booked a room with two king beds and didn't realize that it was two rooms with a king bed in each room as well as a tv in each room. The bathroom and sink area separated the two rooms. This was a delightful surprise as I had forgotten my earplugs and my husband's snoring usually has us in two separate rooms due to lack of sleep on my part! The hotel actually had cute little bags in the bedrooms with earplugs so I might have been okay. The toiletries could have been a little better with shampoo and conditioner. There were shower caps, soap, shower gel, lotion. The bathroom had a huge jacuzzi as well as a shower stall and toilet. The sink area was outside of the bathroom which is always convenient when he is showering and I am trying to put on makeup. The room(s) were clean and everything worked. It was quiet. The beds were super comfortable. We went to sleep with me watching what I wanted on my tv and him in the other room enjoying the whole bed to himself watching what he wanted on tv. It was a great stay and it will definitely be the place we go to each overnight getaway we do. Some people I read complained about it being slightly outdated and overpriced. That is ANY coastal town for the most part. You are going to pay for the location. Santa Cruz is full of motels and inns. Everything is overpiced and for the most part, everything looks like it needs a major facelift. Ocean Pacific Lodge is in a fantastic location as it's a short walk to the wharf and boardwalk and a short walk downtown. You are in a good middle place that feels safe. It's easy to find and to get in and out of. Highly recommend.…
What this had going for it was the obvious cleanliness, though that came at a cost of heavy disinfectant odor. Our room was otherwise underwhelming. Guests were not even allowed to set foot in the lobby, which I assume was the fault of the pandemic, though it felt unfriendly. The location is good, but Santa Cruz looked dispirited and somewhat grim.
This is a really cool place to stay...The bed was comfortable, room was big, a short walk to the pier and boardwalk.... the staff is friendly and helpful....parking was great... the pool and jacuzzis look inviting....1 block to 7_11...
We arrived after a secure booking through the motel front desk to discover my reservation was cancelled, randomly, mistakenly, by manageement, the day I booked. I was told, "these mistakes happen." Fortunately, there was a room available, but already I am feeling insecure. No reduced rate was offered. The second night my 25 year old son, a professor in China, myself, a university professor, and an Ocean Pacific Lodge neighbor who walked by and struck up conversation with us, spoke in whispers and at low volume while my son smoked his tobacco pipe on the outdoor area. The night worker came by and told us we were being disturbing. This was a designated smoking area and we were very quiet. I laughed, due to the absurdity, and the curiously frightened little man threatened to kick us out, he said, because I laughed at the preposterous policing. He walked by us repeatedly. For no reason. Excessively upset and continually threatening. My son is 6'3" very good looking long haired man and the neighbor was a good looking young black man. I think the man felt as if rejected by the "cool" crowd. That was the behavior. And by the way, you cannot kick guests out of paid lodging if they are in no way being disturbing. I am a 54 year old woman with a disease. I move slow and absolutely demand quiet in my travels. This night worker was so absurd. Like the unpopular high school kid who feels power with a gun. He isn't a balanced person. This was night worker on Feb 1, 2020. The location is great and I would return but the employees are chaotic and unorganized and I consider one to possibly have clinical mental disorders. Environment extremely hostile. Disappointed as I liked the room for price and location and I travel a lot.…
Clean carpeted floors. Plenty of room for a family of 5. Rollaway beds are the nicest/most comfortable ever according to my teenager. Beyond FRIENDLY staff. Accommodating. Good communicators and professional. Did I say clean? Shower was huge! Would definitely stay there again with our next trip to Santa Cruz. 5 STARS!!!
