Booked and paid for the ‘Victorian Suite’ on 19 February for three nights in May 2020. SEVENTEEN days later I have received a very impersonal (Dear guest) standard email stating “we are unable to accommodate your reservation at this time”. Interestingly, the room is available for a vastly inflated cost to the amount I paid on Ebookers! Customer Service is just as bad as I sent a polite email to them on 8 March before realising the room is still available, requesting suggestions for alternative accommodation- no reply received!

You really should take a hotels claim of the availability being out of their control at face value. Perhaps you do not identify with that mode of thinking as you may be in an environment teeming with riff raffs. The availability you claim on some sight is not true. Had you had a friend of yours call us incognito---as some very busy and well adjusted people have in the past---you would find this to be true. There is a lot going on out there. I'm letting you know in the event that you haven;t picked your head up.

AWJI is very well located around 10 mins walk from the town centre in a quiet residential street. So a perfect location. However, there are too many downsides to give a good rating. Overall the place has the air of having seen better days and is somewhat dark and uninviting. Maybe this is supposed to be part of its character, but it didn't work for us. The room "Wild Rose" suffers from a very unattractive pokey bathroom that is in desperate need of a refurbishment. It also had no heating, so in February was absolutely freezing - if you're attracted by the thought of the advertised spa bath then think again. The buffet breakfast isn't served until 8.30am. That's far too late for tourists wanting to get out and make the most of the day or needing to head off to their next destination. The breakfast itself is OK, though didn't appear to be restocked, so make sure you're not late if you want your first choice. Finally, the hosts were an overly loquacious gentleman (John) who didn't seem to understand when it was appropriate to conclude a conversation, and a surly German (we were told) woman who seemed to do her best to avoid any contact by blanking guests. In summary, the marketing suggests this place is a beautiful romantic B&B. The reality is an establishment with hosts that don't seem to understand current day standards of hospitality, and appear to have fallen well behind the times.

John!!!!, I'm not sure about what was dark but we'll make a note of it. Not sure about the pokey bathroom but perhaps you have experienced a few and we have to defer to your judgement. We've never had a reference for the bathroom such as this previously. The Wild Rose room---as all of our accommodations---has a fireplace as well as a heater. These are in plain sight. The advertising is not a spa bath but a Jacuzzi tub. With regards to the 'loquacious' reference---absolutely. Conversely, we have had guests who didn't seem to receive a smile, attention, and conversation at the moment they deemed necessary, write negative reviews and even---though rare---call us some days after checking out and claim I/we were not friendly with them. Other than an occasional follow up negative review which seem to reflect more objective and tangible compromises during their stay, most of the guests who post negative reviews fall into one of two general categories (often with overlaps between the two): 1. They are in a bad mood before they arrive; and 2. they feel---while almost always not reflecting the actual reality of our engagements with the guests and is a reflection of their various personal sensitive natures---as if we slighted them. You pick John. Sorry you couldn't enjoy what most do. JC The Innkeeper

We arrived and easily found the Inn situated on a quiet residential street. Plenty of street parking for our car. Quick check in and we walked across the street to our charming cottage. Two fireplaces in our room immediately caught our attention and were used throughout our stay. The room had a bedroom and lounge room tastefully decorated. Full of personality and small touches that made the room interesting. We had booked dinner at the top restaurant in Santa Barbara and learned it was a two block walk from our cottage. State Street and all it has to offer is also two blocks away. The Inn is perfectly located away from the traffic of Downtown but close enough for a short stroll to be checking out the stores and restaurants. Breakfast was nice and they had a few unique offerings available. Overall a great stay and we look forward to our next visit. We will stay here again!

My sister and I stayed in the “Craftsman Room” at a White Jasmine Inn on our trip to California, all the way from Toronto. We had an unforgettable experience there. Perfect location, close to all major things to see/do in Santa Barbara. Quiet + safe neighbourhood. Parking was very easy and free. The room was beautifully furnished with Victorian style decor and the most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept in. The innkeeper was so friendly and helpful, and also very funny. You can tell he is very passionate about making your stay the best it can be. Breakfast was lovely, with a wide selection of food to accommodate any dietary restrictions. There is also the option to have breakfast in their beautiful garden. The attention to detail at this quaint bed and breakfast would make anyone’s stay the perfect one.

Just had a fantastic two night stay here. We stayed in the nautical room and how lovely it was. Super comfy bed, huge bathroom with jacuzzi bath. The first morning we collected our super fresh and delicious breakfast in a basket and sat on the patio outside our room watching humming birds while we ate. The second day we joined other guests in the main inn, again couldn’t have been nicer. John the host was super helpful and attentive. The location is fab really close to local amenities and within walking distance of the Old Mission, wharf and other areas of interest. Could have asked for a better place. We would definitely recommend and will definitely be coming back. Our only regret , we didn’t stay longer.
