I first would like to say that the Riviera Beach House is in a great location in Santa Barbara. It is within walking distance of the pier and many shops and restaurants. That is really the only good thing I have to say about this hotel and is why I have even given it two stars. The bedrooms and bathrooms are extremely small and cramped. The front desk staff could use some customer service training as they are not very welcoming or accommodating. On our checkout day, we asked if we could have a later checkout. Checkout time is 11:00 am and we asked to stay until noon. They told us we could stay the additional hour for $50! That is about a quarter of what we paid for the room for one night! That is the first time I have ever been told something like this in all my years of traveling. I would rather they had said no, they could not accommodate us because they need to turn the room around for the next guest. There are many other hotels in the same vicinity and the next time I visit Santa Barbara, I will be staying elsewhere.…
35 years ago we were married at the Santa Barbara courthouse and the Riviera Beach House was the perfect location for our return! Thomas at the front desk made all the difference. Last night when the restaurant next door had a 2 hour wait, he took our order and had them serve us our dinner and drinks, without delay, right outside the hotel! Very romantic!
This is yr hotel if you like the following: - Noise! Thin walls. - Hotel includes earplugs and white noise machine! If that doesnt chase you away from this hotel you can stop reading. - Did I mention you hear everything in this hotel? - Moldy bathroom floor that leaks water all over & dangerously slippery. - No mini- fridge - Old hotel - No elevator!! Is this ADA compliant?? - Icky Hostel experience to relive those college days when you were a student traveling. - I should have read ALL the trip advisor reviews…I only skimmed :( -
Great friendly staff cute decor. Comfortable bed. Very çlean and quiet. Be aware no elevator bit there is only two floors no refrigerator or microwave and rooms are small but big enough for a couple small family. A little on the pricey side but you are two blocks from the beach.
This property is a true definition of a “hotel” from the 30s or so. Quite small & cozy yet upgraded enough to offer a 21st century experience. The staff is incredibly polite as well. While I recognize it is a much older property hence could be a challenge keeping it up; small details like a working safe (bleeding batteries), or noise pollution from hallways (too much leeway between the door & the floor), could be looked into. This was my third visit to this property (the first being while under IHG management), and I would use it again, albeit just on trips where I am passing by SB. For plans to stay longer than a night, I wouldn’t recommend it. Thank you.
Beautiful decor & location. Rooms are very small, difficult if there are more than 2 people. Very clean & comfortable beds. Lack of full length mirror or any mirror outside of bathroom made it difficult to get ready. Staff was incredibly nice. Very convenient to get to downtown area. Valet staff always quick & courteous.
Great location and pretty renovation isn’t enough to make me stay here again. The staff was unwelcoming and almost surly. For the amount of money we paid for our room, I would have expected much better service and no cockroaches! We were spoiled by a wonderful 2 week stay at the 741 hotel in Laguna Beach just before arriving here.
Great Hotel. The location is fantastic. The restaurant is fantastic but you are walking distance to everything. The rooms are small but very well done, the sitting area outside of room is nice place to get some work done. Will stay here again for business or leisure.
The location and the staff were wonderful. The room was clean and comfortable. They allowed pets and the fee for pets was very cheap, which was one of the reasons why I picked this location. But overall it was a wonderful stay and I would definitely stay there again.
Hotel is beautiful and beds are so comfortable. Don't let the small rooms deter you from choosing this hotel. I spent most of my stay in meetings, but it was nice to come back to a comfy bed. The hotel is located in the perfect location to great restaurants.
