Lovely motel, scrupulously clean, welcoming, friendly, and a short walk to the beach/restaurants/and other amenities. Netflix/Amazon video, USB chargers, mini fridge, ironing board, hair dryer, room safe. Owners appear to have thought of everything. This is how it should be done. Exemplary.
Santa Barbara has become massively expensive, yes this is something that’s relatively new over the last three years since I’ve been going quite a lot as my godson lives there. My usual hunt was the Hilton on East Beach. Their prices have become of seen without me being able to find anything below 650 to 900 per night anymore. So, I needed a bit of a budget motel and this came in around $400 with taxes per night, maybe this is a little bit high for the time, but, it may have been because it was a special gay pride weekend. Not sure. I like to be extremely honest in these reviews and it’s no offense to the hotel. I will say that the office staff was one of the highlights because they were gentle and kind of nice. I might say that don’t come early and expect to get a room because they don’t check you in until after 3 PM. I’m not sure why they didn’t let me in because they had rooms clean at my rate, was exhausted from getting up at 4 AM to make it to California. It’s not a huge deal. There is no pool, they have a few bicycles to rent, there is free parking in the motel but I don’t think they have enough spaces for all the guest. This was a plus having free parking. No, this is a single level very budget motel. The door to the rooms open directly into a parking lot. The good thing is these rooms are extremely clean, nice bedding, comfortable pillows, tiny bathroom and closet but the bathroom was immaculate and had a nice modern tiled shower. they have a coffee maker in the room and also serve coffee in the motel little lobby. The coffee is pretty good. They have a very simple breakfast with fresh fruit and pastries and hard-boiled eggs! For me that was a big plus because I love hard-boiled eggs for breakfast. I wasn’t up to my normal physical activity, but next time I will definitely utilize the bicycles which are included with your stay. Overall, this place is a bit charming. I hope I can find a time within the next year to come back and hopefully it won’t be on some very expensive weekend. Location is excellent as everyone says half a block from the beach, West Beach and very close to State Street.…
We arrived at the motel around 11am after a lengthy flight from Australia and driving straight from LAX. We were able to check in straight away which was a relief so we could freshen up and explore Santa Barbara as it was our first visit. The staff in reception were friendly and professional. The room was a good size, as was the bathroom, and both were very clean. There was also the bonus of parking of our hire car outside of the front door at no charge. There was also plenty or chairs/tables to sit outside as the weather was still warm in the evening. Breakfast was also included in the rate and there was a reasonable selection of food. The pier is within easy walking distance, as were numerous bars and restaurants in State Street and W Cabrillo Blvd. I would highly recommend the motel and look forward to staying again as we really enjoyed our stay in Santa Barbara.…
We stayed here for a night during our family road trip holiday. Staff at check in and throughout visit very welcoming and helpful. Room spacious, clean and comfortable. Location ideal for exploring the city. We thought it was the best motel we stayed in along the way.
Our friends and family loved the Marina Beach Motel's proximity to State Street, the Funk Zone, the beach and pier. The rooms were comfortable and clean, while the overall location was quiet despite being a short walk from many local bars and restaurants. Kevin and team did an amazing job accommodation our wedding guests who were traveling from abroad. They were super helpful and accommodating of all requests that came up!
Booked this hotel for 3 nights (Wed - Friday) based on the good reviews, the location, and good price (relative to Santa Barbara). Our 2 Queen kitchenette room was spacious. There was a loveseat, a two-person table, and a desk area. The kitchenette had a gas stove, a small refrigerator, a microwave, Kuerig coffee pot, a sink, some utensils, serving ware, and pots & pans....but we did not cook anything. The beds were very comfortable, the linens were good quality. The bathroom was small, but modern and clean. We did see a few random small ants in the room, but had no real issues with them. The courtyard was very nice with some lounge chairs, tables with umbrellas, and chairs. The continental breakfast was served each morning 7:30 am till 10:30 am and had a nice variety of cereals, breads, yogurt, boiled eggs, instant oatmeal, milk, tea, coffee, juice, and fresh fruit. All of the staff were very friendly. Location was great...we walked everywhere downtown, to the Funk Zone, marina, Pier, beach, restaurants, and wine tastings. We took advantage of the free bikes (beach cruisers) and rode all the way to Butterfly Beach on the ocean bike path. They also have beach towels for guest use. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family.…
This is a popular little place. Although busy, the staff still manage to deliver a welcoming vibe and the place is well run. Super clean room. Loads of options for breakfast. Location is awesome! The complimentary motel bikes are a great idea. Would DEFINITELY stay here again next time we are in SB!
Arrived for 3:00 checkin and room wasn't ready. There many other rooms ready but just not ours. I asked if we could have one of the ready rooms. No. After waiting a while longer I again asked for a different room as no progress had been made in preparing our room. The clerk finally acquiesced and gave us a room. After we unpacked we saw ants. So we got rid of them and thought that was that. Nope. After returning from a stroll we returned to finds tons of ants crawling all over because I had left a cookie on the counter. Location is fine but this is just a simple motel with small, very small, rooms and the amenities, including breakfast are similar to that of a Motel 6. You can do better in Santa Barbara gorbthe same money. Not sure why there are so many great reviews for such an average place but I suspect many of them are fake. Choose carefully. Read the non gushing reviews and you'll notice ants in rooms are not uncommon.…
Located one block from the beach and a few blocks from the action. The motel has a retro vibe with parking outside your front door but it has been updated to todays standards. Quiet even when at capacity, Very clean bathroom, keurig machine, good ac. Towels a little thin. Hair dryer was a bit flimsy. But overall no complaints. They have bikes and beach towels to borrow although we didn’t use them. We stayed 3 days and it was exactly what we needed for the short stay.
Great location near the beach in a very quiet safe area, no soap body wash etc but was told I should have asked for it at reception , the breakfast was coffee , cereal and yoghurt with a few cakes so we didn’t eat, the bikes looked old but were free .
