If you just want a motel right across the beach, within short walking distance from Stern's Wharf, this is a great location. But that's about it. The parking lot is tight fit for the amount of cars allowed. The registration/breakfast room is no bigger than a small closet. We made reservations four weeks ahead, but when we got there we...

We stayed here after turning up in Santa Barbara with no accommodation booked. We wanted to stay along the beach and popped into various other hotels / motels but found the rates extremely high until we found the Ala Mar. The receptionist that checked us in was very friendly and chatty and couldnt have been more helpful. The same goes...

Stayed here for 2 nights, the location is perfect, just across the road from the beach. Our room was quirky and full of character, the bed was huge and very comfortable. the staff were pleasant. Breakfast, internet and parking are all included. Really enjoyed staying here.

Any of the good reviews on this site were most obviously written by the staff. This place is actually worse than anything I have ever seen. We have sewage in the bath tub, no soap of any kind and I may be in what is actually a closet. We also had a nasty visible spooge stain on the comforter and...

This is a no-frills hotel. Shower door wouldn't close right, no place to hang towels in the bathroom or place to put your toiletries while showering. INo fridge or microwaves. If you're on the bottom floor you'll hear your neighbors walking in the room upstairs. Breakfast is free but the coffee isn't very good & they won't print your boarding...

We were first surprised with the quirky way the room was put together. The bathroom had no place to hang towels so they were in a rack in the room next to the TV. Once the towels were used there wasn't really any place in the bathroom to hang them except for the top of the shower, which had a...

We arrived at the motel just before the front desk was going to close (our fault) We were greeted nicely and given our room key (109) upon opening our door we were greeted with the lovely smell of urine.. My husband and I looked at our room and thought "you have got to be kidding me". We paid $128.00 for...

When we arrived, we were greeted courteously by staff, and stayed in the 'penthouse' room (the only room on the 3rd floor). The motel location was great because it was close to the beach and the pier. The in-room jacuzzi, dual-showerhead, flat-screen tv, and the oceanview were positive aspects of the room. However, for a room of this high price...

Despite the reviews I decided to book this motel because I was traveling alone and only spending one night and didn't want to spend a lot. I have stayed in cheap places before and normally they are adequate. Unlike everyone else, my room was $88 total for one night! (A sunday night in Feb) If you pay anymore than that...

This hotel is the perfect location, and has a second floor balcony with tables and chairs overlooking the beach and ocean and pier , which is right across the street...its just blocks away from all the wine tastings, and all the restaurants, and just mile or so from downtown santa barbara. the rooms are really small though and strangely shaped..the...
