Where to begin... room keys didn’t work, balcony littered with cigarette butts, lights didn’t work, no hangers in closet, parking lot keycard didn’t work, bathroom door would not close, filthy throughout with unresponsive staff. Shockingly bad. Hilton needs emergency intervention. This place should be closed ASAP.

SAFETY WARNING My family has been staying in this hotel for the past 6-7 years (beach vacation) and we were SHOCKED at how much this hotel has gone downhill in the past 5 months and it is now UNSAFE to stay at. We checked into the hotel and after several uncomfortable incidents we checked out 2 hours later. To give you a feel for the incidents: 1) Multiple men taking photographs of my daughters 2) A man and a lady approached my son who had his 6 month old little girl and told him they have a baby toy they weren’t using and would like to bring it to his room. When he didn’t give them his room number they kept pressing him for it. 3) Any new person that checks into the hotel would be watched by people on the balconies. 4) Men on bicycles going through the parking lot looking into cars and back of trucks. 5) The valet person said to me “anything you leave in the back of your truck will be taken.” 6) Rooms have a heavy smell of smoke. (No smoking hotel) 7) Our tub had multiple (20ish) burn marks on it from drug use. 8) We saw multiple drug deals go down. 9) The hotel front desk cannot tell you that they participate in the homeless program. Google “California homeless hotel program” for more info. 10) Hotel smells of heavy smoke. (Advertise Non smoking hotel) 11) The list goes on…. You are UNSAFE if you stay at this hotel! Research any hotel you are reserving in CA as they may be participating in this program and the hotel is not able to tell you because they are not allowed to “discriminate”. This is what the front desk person told us.

I had family booked into this hotel for five nights. I’ve made reservations for them at this hotel multiple times, including as recently as October 2019. It was quite nice then. But this was a nightmare! I have traveled all over the world. I have stayed in foreign countries where hotel security rolled mirrors under my taxi to make sure there were no bombs before letting the vehicle pass through the gates. I took photos of gunfire right outside my hotel in Athens when Greek law enforcement was shooting at Albanian refugees in the 90s. I’m saying I’ve experienced a lot, and I’m no snowflake. Yet this stay at the Hilton Embassy Suites in California was the scariest hotel experience of my life. We were directly and deliberately intimidated and harassed by hostile men. We witnessed multiple drug deals openly taking place in front of our own eyes - at all hours of the day. After witnessing a fight in the parking lot on the second night, I called the local police. I also called Hilton Customer Service and asked them to move the family (which included young children) to a safer Hilton property, but Hilton refused. In fact, Hilton Customer Service told me that they could allow (allow?!) me to check out early if I was concerned about safety. Hilton refused to refund the nights we stayed, and they refused to assist in finding last-minute lodging for a family of six. Never mind being trapped in a broken elevator (I kid you not) with other people who were not wearing masks. Two days later, that elevator was still broken and didn't even have a sign on it. Never mind the filthy, FILTHY rooms that blackened everyone’s feet, dirty-sticky door handles and disgusting luggage carts. Never mind that I never saw anyone cleaning high-touch surfaces like railings or doors. Covid is clearly the least of this property's problems! Trust me – this was scary. Stay away!

I stayed at this location several years ago and gave it high marks. I stayed here again on July 10th and to say I was disappointed would be a gross under statement. The first room I received at check-in was very dirty. Social distancing and face mask use was not well marked or reinforced. We were scheduled to stay two nights but left after the one night. I will not stay here again.

Upon arriving, we noticed a large number of sketchy looking individuals. After checking in, we walked out onto our balcony and looked down, only to see a guest staying in the room below us shoot a needle full of heroin into his arm. We called security and they did nothing. On the positive side, when we left and asked for our money back, the front clerk cancelled the card with no problems. This hotel was absolutely disgusting.
