Stayed at this hotel during a business trip to Redwood City; hotel is ok for business purposes but there is little in the immediate area in regards to restaurants or shops. It is close to highway. Staff in bar/restaurant area friendly/helpful; staff at reception not so much (upon checking out, I was told that I was supposed to have checked out previous day which was incorrect, no excuse made when I showed them the correct check out date on my reservation). Breakfast buffet very good; dinner options somewhat limited. Parking at USD 30,- per night on a mostly empty parking lot seems to be over the top.
They are updating the hotel rooms which are clean and comfortable. They have both a weight room and also a cardio room which is better than most hotels Concierge lounge is well maintained and offers good variety. Close to several high tech companies and 15 minutes from SFO airport
Stayed here for a conference. Relatively modern hotel (compared to most in the area). Many other options much closer to the airport. Only partly renovated. The cleaner didn’t live by the ‘eco’ option of the hotel, opting to replace towels every day that I purposely left on the eco-friendly wall hanger. PROS: - Large bar area. - Comfortable bed. CONS: - AC/heating system was very noisy. - Was put in a room a very, very long walk from the lifts. - Room rate is extortionate, even compared to the local area. Tip - ask for a room in the more modern renovated section of the hotel, to the right side.
Before the renovation, this hotel looked a bit outdated. however, since the recent renovation, the lobby and the rooms have undergone a dramatic renovation for the better. The service is friendly and accommodating, and the concierge lounge is open 24 hours a day which is great for elite members and guests booking a concierge level room. There is also a hotel shuttle, but the shuttle only runs hourly and is not around the clock. Still, if you're traveling before 10:00 pm and after 5:00 am, then you are in luck. Love this hotel and near to downtown San Mateo, a mecca for fine restaurants. By the way, the hotel restaurant is very good. I tried the bucatini in white clam sauce and was pleased with the balance of flavor and saltiness. A very enjoyable stay and I will be back.
The Marriott is nice. They offer a free shuttle that leaves the hotel once per hour on the hour. The ride averages 15-20 minutes. ROOM (#1102) I was upgraded, due to my Marriott status, to a king suite. The room was clean, comfortable, and modern. The bedroom had a king bed with 2 night stands, clock, iron and board, closet with hangers, TV, 8 outlet plugs and 3 USB plugs. The bedroom had a door that allowed you to close off from the living room. That room had a pullout couch, table, ottoman, desk and chair, mini fridge, safe for valuables, TV, 6 outlet plugs and 3 USB plugs, and the heat/ac worked well. BATHROOM The bathroom was nice and clean. There was a toilet, stand-up shower (no tub), sink with some countertop space, hairdryer, and 2 outlets plugs. LOUNGE The lounge was clean and spacious. The workers were attentive. For breakfast they had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, breads/pastries/bagels/muffins, cereals, oatmeal, fresh and whole fruit, and yogurt. For dinner they had cheese and crackers, veggies and dip, sausage with peppers, pasta primavera, and cake. GYM The gym is separated into two different rooms, cardio and weights. Both rooms were clean and the equipment is in nice shape. The cardio room had 5 treadmills, 3 ellipticals, and 2 speed bicycles. The weight room had preset barbells 20-110 pounds, dumbbells 5-50 pounds, kettlebells 5-40 pounds, cable machine, 2 benches, 2 stationary bicycles, 1 row machine, medicine balls, and exercise balls and mats. OVERALL The hotel had a free shuttle. The hotel, room, lounge, and gym were all clean. The gym rooms had a nice variety. The lounge had some tasty food for breakfast and dinner. I would stay here again.…
