I have always enjoyed my stays at any Marriott but this one at San Mateo, reached a new level of service. I was surprised to learn that room service had not returned at this hotel due to the pandemic and that detail left me in a pickle. My disabled husband was spending three days in our room while I was gone the entire day. We had brought some food with us to handle his breakfast/lunches, or any diabetic lows or highs, but dinner was always going to be through room service. While I was trying to figure out how to handle this Lily on the front desk said...have him order what he wants, then call me at the front desk, I will pick it up, and bring it to him!! Voila! Problem solved, my mind at ease, and my husband feed. Thank you Lily, for your kindness, compassion and SERVICE!!

NO SHUTTLE SERVICE, yet is called an airport hotel. How can you be an airport hotel without shuttle service? I have stayed here before, before when they had shuttle service. Had booked a reservation and had gone to the shuttle pick up location as before. NO SHOW, learned the hard way.

The rooms are nice and the proximity to the airport is a plus. We were courteously greeted checking in and all seemed well. This is where things start to go south the pillows are lumpy and seem fluffy but deflate to the thickness of a thin cracker. The bar/restaurant is a another interesting situation. We came back from dinner in nearby old town Burlingame to see a full bar with several (3) people working behind the bar. So we sat at a nearby table and waited 30 mins and nobody came by to ask if we wanted anything so we left. Should there be a sign on each table that says you need to stand in line and order from the bar? Later we called asking for room service (nope don't have that either) but the person answering the phone offered to take the order over to the bar and would call us so we could come get them, never happened. So the next evening we stopped by the bar around 430 the plan was cocktails and some bar food/pub grub and then retire to our room ( we did Alcatraz so were tired) and a gentleman walked by stocking stuff behind the bar. By this time there a total of 6 people seated at the bar and we were all informed that he would start serving at 5 even though the sign on the wall behind him says bar open from 11 AM to 1 AM. I looked at my husband and he said we can go someplace else. The other 4 guys called an uber and left as well. Great business model there folks!!! More or less telling your customers to wait (30 mins) or go someplace else? We had mexican food about 10 mins away by uber and had 2 margaritas each that were much tastier and more fulfilling than the 2 drinks we had later for $14.50 each. Then there is the WIFI biz you have to pay to use it which we did not opt to do, 10.99 for Marriot members and $15 or $16 if you are not. So to sum up for what we paid and what we got in return for the money I feel short changed, seriously! I would not recommend staying here unless it was the only place to stay. We will not be back!

Easy parking, exterior well lit for when you're coming in late. The room was very comfortable, large enough to move around in. Internet was highspeed and consistant. The on-site small market was very handy.

I made a reservation on FEBRURARY 23 2021 (Yes 6 months ago) for a suite at this hotel. Upon arrival I was informed that I would not be receiving the room I booked SIX MONTHS AGO, because it had been given to another guest (more on this later). I was offered a much lower quality room and 'free parking and Wi-Fi' as a compensation. We were also supposed to have breakfast included for all three days, that never happened. The manager promised to 'immediately add 30,000 points to my bon voy account'. Can you guess how that went? Just like my suite, it was never provided. I had 3 rooms reserved, two for 2 days and one for 3 days. After looking at this terrible replacement room, I spoke to the manager who informed me that they gave my room to a staff member of the convention I was there to attend. I thought we had come to a solution. I gave BACK the replacement room and said I wanted to stay in the other two rooms for all three nights. So now I had two rooms for 3 nights... Well guess what. Sunday morning; I received notice that the reservation had NOT been updated and that I had to check out. No one ever warned me that the room I had reserved SIX MONTHS EARLIER would not be provided. No one ever warned me that the agreement for the three nights would not be honored. If Marriott is willing to pull someone's reservation that was made SIX MONTHS EARLIER for a convention worker, then how can I EVER trust them with a future reservation? Simple answer: I can't.
