I checked in here with my group in March 2020. The hotel is conveniently located with restaurants and bars within walking distance. It has a motel feel to it but my large group were all extremely content with the flatscreen TVs, the comfortable mattresses and pillows and the cleanliness of the hotel. When we were checking in, there was a family feel to it with a father and daughter handling the large group. It was done expeditiously and everything was prepared when we got there. Fantastic Hotel we will definitely come back.
Room still in an excellent condition from a recent remodel & were cleaned well. Contrary to some recent Hotels.com incorrect or fake reviews, breakfast is served in a breakfast room & does include a waffle maker!!! Besides the standard continental fare (coffee, pastries, toast with topping choices, there were cereal choices, low fat yogurt choices, bananas along with orange juice, milk, water, teas, etc.
Stayed here for a night before we toured CalPoly. The motel was clean well maintained . Rates were moderate . We had a second floor room that backed up to Marsh street . There was a faint sound highway noise at night but not enough to wake us or keep from sleeping . Beds were comfortable and the linens were new and fresh looking. My only complaint would be the sound of the water rushing through the pipes was quite loud . It was from another room because nothing was running in our room. Other than that very pleasant staff and stay. I would recommend to others.
Bring your own soap and shampoo. Our room was well appointed, clean, and quiet. The complimentary breakfast was OK. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would have given the Avenue Inn five stars but for this one item. The liquid soap, hand lotion, and shampoo dispensers don’t dispense. I had to press the lever on soap dispenser five times to obtain sufficient soap to wash my hands. In the shower I had to press the soap and shampoo lever up to eight times. I raised the issue with the manager. i suggested that the units in my room needed repair. The manager told me that a new California law banned the use of disposable plastic toiletries bottles. Hence the dispensers. She checked the dispensers in our room and pronounced them to be in good working order. What the manager told me was not quite true. Yes, California has banned disposable toiletries bottles. However the ban will not take effect until 2023. Also I have stayed in many hotels whose liquid soap dispensers dispense an adequate amount of liquid with one press of the lever. Avenue Inn should replace their dispensers. Until then I recommend you bring your own soap and shampoo.…
