Detailed Reviews
We had a late checkin which went smoothly with the receptionist being very helpful, advising us of the two nearest restaurants in the area and the discount given when showing our room card.
The room was very clean with coffee machine fridge and everything else you would expect.
Bathroom very nice with big shower and all the toiletries.
We had two very comfortable beds, and although we could see all the planes coming and going from Oakland Airport there was very little noise. The views of the Marina were delightful.
The breakfast had a great selection to start the day with fresh fruit, pastries, breads, bagels, fresh to make waffles, assorted cereal, juice, tea, coffee and hot chocolate.
The shuttle bus was a major plus for this hotel as it is a little remote for those with out a car. We took the shuttle bus each day to the BART Station to travel into San Francisco, then called the hotel on our return for it to pick us up.
The two nearby restaurants were very good, especially with the discount.
Due to the time we were staying at the hotel, in March as the Coronavirus was having its effects felt, things did start to close down. We were one of the last customers to leave. Such a sad thing for the staff who were all so friendly and helpful.
Good luck to you all.

I was taking a stay-cation to get away for a few days to await the results from an MRI on my brain. I was a crying mess most of the time there. The housekeeping staff, which included Jorge Lucia and Camelita were so attentive friendly and encouraging as well as thorough in doing there job, that it made the whole situation easier to deal with on my two most recent stays there this year. This is my go to spot when I need to getaway, relax, focus, decompress. I was formerly on the staff of the renowned Fairmont Chain, and was the assistant to the head of Food and Beverage services there Jason Cisneros when they started the Lobby Lounge, and Afternoon Tea at their Berkeley Property in 2015. I also was their special events reservationists for their restaurants and dining halls on the property. I said this to say. I know quality service when I see it. They also have Amazing views of the SF Bay, They are near the Oakland airport and Coliseum. You can actually sit on your balcony (or in the jacuzzi) at sunset, watch the planes fly over the water while sipping from their wide selections of teas, cocoa or coffee if you prefer which is available 24 hours. They also serve milk and a selection of soft chewy Otis Spunkmeyer cookies in the evening close to check in which you can enjoy by their lobby fireplace, or in your room. They have a great continental breakfast spread, more than your average hotel offers which includes and hot waffle bar with all the fixings you can imagine.

First off, I booked the room through World Discovered Pacific and saved $179.05. I had called the front desk to see how much my stay would be. I shared my price through World Discovered Pacific with the receptionist at the front desk and even he was surprised! He said, “Honestly, book through them!”.
Second, my stay was from April 29th through May 8th. Mind you, this is at the beginning of the pandemic, every precaution was in place. Throughout my stay I felt safe. Everyone wore their mask and frequently used areas were wiped down. I would definitely recommend staying here!!!

We come here a couple times a year when there’s no time to get far away. Been visiting for about 3 years now. Always great R&R. The property is very well maintained with hot tub, pool, bikes, walking paths, airplane spotting, comfortable beds, linens of quality, and exceptional hospitality. Thank you Antonio, Andrea, and rest of staff this weekend.

I had to stay overnight in San Leandro for spouse's medical procedure and the Marina Inn was a wonderful oasis for that stay. Very affordable and great location on the marina and within walking distance to the Marina Park and several restaurants. I stayed in a deluxe queen room, which was very clean had a balcony overlooking the harbor. Very spacious room was great since there aren't a lot of places to go right now, furnished with overstuffed chair and ottoman and desk, so versatile for working, relaxed reading or resting. Comfortable bed and also microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker made it great if I was going to be there for a longer stay - especially right now. Pool and spa and public areas are closed now due to COVID-19 but being on the marina, there was a lot of area to stroll, especially in the beautiful Marina Park adjacent to the hotel. Clean bathrooms and great shower. they have modified their free breakfast due to the current situation, but still adequate: hard boiled eggs, separately wrapped pastries, yogurt, fruit, coffee or tea and juice. All in all a wonderful stay. Only request would be that I would have liked to see their COVID-19 measures posted somewhere in the lobby or rooms.

I’ve seen mixed reviews on Trip Advisor for The Marina Inn, but our stay was very, very nice. The front desk staff are all pleasant and welcoming. There are so many housekeeping service staff that are working everywhere to keep the property neat as a pin. Our room (314) was nicely appointed and comfortable. Breakfast options are extensive, not just the grab and go bags you get during the current COVID season. I would highly recommend this property for a nice, relaxing stay.

I had planned to stay at a local hotel to beat the heat and enjoy the weekend by the Marina, which I have spent many good times at as I grew up in the Bay Area and even remember my mother speaking fondly about staying at the Marina hotel from time to time. While all of the guest and amenities were great, it was unfortunately overshadowed by an overwhelming rude woman at the front desk who wears glasses. I had recently been victim to a rental scam and was awaiting a new credit card, the woman refused to take any of my cash funds nearly $500 as a deposit while the room itself only cost a little over $100 for the night, in addition to this as opposed to letting my mother who has trouble walking pay with her card over phone, I had to drive to my mother's home transport her to the hotel to pay in person with an ID then return her to her home. My mother nor I received an apology, any offers of compensation, or courtesy. I can understand having a policy of needing to put a credit card on file, but I could not imagine that all guests were treated this way, is so I don't any of the room would be reserved ever. While I have stayed at many hotels in my life, I have never been treated so rudely and with such disrespect, disregard, and what I potentially believe was racism. While the hotel is great in so many ways, and nearly everything else is wonderful, I will never again stay at a place with such abhorrent customer service.

No Wifi in my room in the evening. In the morning, the Wifi was slow, but I was not able to use Internet in the evening.
The room is dated and tired. The window is extremely dirty and the screen is loose with holes. The bathroom is very small, with a bulb not working and a rusty sprinkler. The sink area is only half the size as opposed to the renovated sink area posted on their website. The linen has holes.
An Asian front desk lady with dark glasses was disrespectful, confrontational, and condescending. She was rude to me even before I spoke. First time experiencing this kind of attitude in my years of travel. On the contrary, the Hispanic front desk employee was professional and reasonable.
Free airport shuttle and paid parking. As the above noted lady snarkily warned me (when chewing a mouthful of food), pay $18 or pay $300 to fix the smashed window. This probably said something about the marina. Still, I wish I could explore the area more but the overall experience was a letdown, and I left early in the morning.
There are a couple restaurants and a golf course nearby, but not much else in walking distance.
I feel that the hotel is oversold on the website. Photos vs. reality. This is still a good place to stay with right expectations because of its lower rate, complementary shuttle and breakfast, and if you could tolerate the unfounded hostility from that one employee.

staff is excellent. very friendly and make you feel welcome. nice views. the rooms are very outdated and beds not comfortable. the walls are very thin and i could hear everything in the rooms next door. one side i could hear the tv clearly. on the other side of me, loud music and talking. i called the front desk about the loud music and they did send a manager to deal with it but it didn’t do much. very thin walls for a hotel.

The marina Inn is a beautiful representation of San Leandro. As a former resident of the town, this is my favorite place to stay when coming into the Bay Area. The hotel itself is a throwback to 90s aesthetic, but it’s very well kept. The staff is very friendly and helpful towards accommodations. The shuttle will take you to and from the airport or to San Leandro Bart. You are also next to two good restaurants, El Torito, and Horatio’s.
I have two minor issues with the marina inn that I hope they fix:
The internet - it’s a captive portal style, which isn’t an issue to access as the front desk will give you a code. But if you’re planning to use the Internet for a business call on the day that you check out, you will most likely have to go back to the front desk to get a new code, I would suggest they extend the first code they gave you through the day that you’re checking out. Also, I stayed on the third floor and had to take multiple zoom calls. I noticed that my Internet speed was much slower than required for a teleconference, keep that in mind if you’re planning to attend work calls in your room. The Internet in the lobby was clearly much faster.
The breakfast - the first time I stayed here with my son we enjoyed that they had self-serve waffle makers set up for breakfast. It made for an enjoyable breakfast for my six-year-old. sadly, when I stayed there recently, I learned that they just switched to single serve, sealed breakfast items, which sufficed, but lack the charm, (and the deliciousness) of the waffle makers.
I pointed that out to staff, and I hope the people that make the decisions will reconsider and bring them back.
Otherwise, it’s a very nice hotel to stay at if you prefer being away from a bustling city and want to enjoy the beautiful marina instead.

Our shuttle services the Oakland Airport only.
We had a King room with a small balcony, 2 chairs, small table overlooking the pool & Marina. I believe all the rooms are located on the Marina side. This is not a fancy hotel, but well maintained & we found it very comfortable. Beautiful sunset view.
You need to ask the hotel directly. I did t take notice.
Weather in SF and surrounding Bay Area can be chilly. Pack a light jacket. Travel can be difficult without a vehicle. With a vehicle you can manage to get around, but be aware of the traffic. Once you get to the Fisherman's Warf area, you can walk to allot of the sites. With the exception of Alcatraz; they have boats/ferries for the tour.
