Stayed here two nights while attending a wedding in town. Reception were really friendly and helpful in sorting me a room off the ground floor. The location is great for exploring the main shopping street and the nearby historic sites. The room (and hotel in general) are a bit dated but very clean and well maintained with some lovely little features. The fireplace is a nice touch. The double shower/whirlpool bath are a nice addition, imagine couples love them. (Personally couldn't bring myself to fill a bath in the middle of a California water shortage!) Bed was huge and comfy with the BEST PILLOWS I have ever slept on in my life!! The little balcony was a nice bit of outdoor space and obvious efforts have been made to give them a bit of privacy. Having an in room fridge is useful but it isn't enclosed in a cabinet and right next to the bed so I ended up unplugging it as the fan clicking on all night kept waking me. (If you're also a light sleeper don't expect any lie ins in San Juan Bautista- the morning cockerels see to that!) No safe or security box meant I didn't feel comfortable having my room made up (especially as it is not carded room entry so no telling who's coming and going) Not the end of the world for a 2 night stay but still very uncomfortable having to leave my passport credit cards, cash, etc unlocked. Very out dated practice of having to ask reception for a hair dryer and return after use. Not so bad in the afternoon/evening but wouldn't like to have to be going down in my pyjamas first thing to collect it in front of everyone looking like a homeless person! No tea/coffee facilities in the room was a shock! Can't remember the last time I stayed anywhere (even ridicously low budget places!) you couldn't at least boil some water for a brew (but that might just be the tea loving Brit in me showing!) It's these little old fashioned things that let this place down but overall lovely place in a lovely town, just need to sort the finer details.…
Yes yes and yes!!! First time here and we will definitely return. An almost perfect stay, just wish they had a coffee maker in the room, but not a deal breaker and still 5 stars!!! We absolutely loved it!!
Located off the Main Street in San Juan Bautista the hotel is easy walking distance to local shops, cafes, and the mission. It looks a little plain from the outside but the lobby has beautiful mission style decor. The hotel is older but the rooms were nicely updated, comfortable, and clean. The breakfast had lots of good options including local baked goods. The front desk staff were very nice, and helpful. I would have given this hotel a 5, but it lacks a fitness room or pool. I was very satisfied with our stay and will be back when we are in the area again. Can’t wait!!!
I stayed here 4 nights during the US Open at Pebble Beach. It was about 45 minute drive to the volunteer parking lot, but much less expensive than staying closer to the golf course. Overall, not a bad hotel if all you need is a bed and TV, but it lacks the amenities of even a run of the mill chain like Holiday Inn Express. Service was marginal at best- hard to find a desk clerk when I checked in and at other times in the evening. There was no maid service to my room one day and I arrived back at the hotel late so just left it alone, but it was very annoying. There is no business area if you need to print anything. Wood floors guarantee you hear every footstep in room above.
We stayed after going to the Renaissance Faire at Casa de Fruita a few miles away. Recently remodeled rooms are quiet and comfortable. The top floor rooms have french doors leading out to balconies. The hotel has a beautiful lobby with a huge fireplace. Very friendly owners and staff. Waffle maker, fruit, toast, muffins, juice, coffee, yogurt and more for breakfast in a quaint room with a gorgeous table and chairs off of the main lobby. Easy parking and walking distance to the Mission and Jardines. Definitely a new favorite hotel that we will return to. Great little city also! Walking tour, museums. Very memorable weekend!
