I checked in at 9:30 pm exhausted. There’s no room service, no bar, no restaurant, no marketplace. I was hungry and this upscale hotel has no service? It’s also LOUD! Could hear cars all night and some kind of garbage shoot noise at 3am? I’m Gold Elite but got a room next to the elevator? Though it clearly says on my profile no rooms close to the elevator. I’m exhausted and didn’t get any rest. Stay somewhere else… this hotel is not convenient and does not cater to business traveler.
As a Bonvoy platinum member, no offer of an upgrade, a shoebox size room, no bottled water in the room, no room make up and a bar that closes at 9pm ! Is this the Westin or the a 2 star motel ? Disappointing, time to get your act together team. This is not how you welcome your valued customers back.
The nursing is beautiful, however the rooms are very small. This type of room is more expected in New York or Paris size wise yet we are in San Jose. There are virtually no reminisces of a regular Westin hotel in regard to what they provide. There is a restaurant on site, however no room service. You have bottles of shampoo attached to the wall in the shower yet no lotion anywhere…just small things like this that stand out. The A/C system is extremely loud too, cleaning of room, which we had to ask for, is hit and miss too, one day is bare minimum and next day its great. I am aware of staffing issue these days, however if you provide the service, it should be consistent. We decided to have some wine one evening in our room and even tho numerous people were still sitting in the restaurant we were not able to purchase the bottle to take up to our room. They were ‘closed’. We were directed to go purchase from the restaurant down the street. I gave it an extra star than I normally would because the front desk staff was very friendly and nice.…
This is a beautiful older hotel so I loved the old elevator and the way that it looked. However, it was very expensive and we were upgraded from a two bed room to a "suite" and the "suite" just meant that they put a piece of furniture between the bed and the sofa so essentially for the amount we paid which was a lot we went from two beds to one bed and a sofa. Suite means that you have two rooms - not one room with the dumbest piece of furniture ever in between it? They don't have parking so you have to valet for $45 + tax a day and the parking is rough. The hotel is on a very busy corner of a road. The valet staff were great, I don't know how they manage it. I might stay there again but I won't be tricked this time with their junior suite but I would only stay there if I wanted to walk over to an event. Otherwise it's inconvenient and there is a lot of traffic around there due to the events. The front desk staff were friendly.…
Yves Hansel the new general manager has really turned this hotel around. This is a historical hotel. The most glamorous of all in it's day. From the expensive wood in the elevators to the cherry wood desks in the room. The ambience cannot be beaten. Rooms are on the small side, but that is the way they were built in the 1920's. Don't let age fool you. With El Fornaio for meals you are guaranteed a gourmet platter set before your eyes. No bag lunch for breakfast or microwaved Jimmy Deans. Breakfast, lunch and dinner served. Now where else can you find that at a hotel these days. The bathrooms are small, but the sink is deep. Too often for look modern shallow sinks are installed or raised above the counter. Pretty yes and pretty useless too. I was surprised at the 8 by 8 thunder cloud of a rain tree shower head, I forgot the bring an umbrella. Along with this most comforting feature is a hand held "bullet" shower head. The sink fixtures are straight forward, hit and cold separate handles and a sink plunger that actually holds water. Bedding was perfect. Large, large pillows, two cover the width of the newer mattress. Comforter keeps you cozy at night. Krug coffee maker, but why use it when an expreso is waiting for you downstairs at El Fornaio. Towels, two are beach size. Toilet tissue roll new. Flooring in the bathtub slightly raised to ensure you will not slip. Heavy glass shower enclosure. Door opens in a conventional manner. I have yet to see a more stronger built shower enclosure and bet you will not find one either. The two elevators align the floors perfectly and are fast. The love baby is one of a kind Ornate carved wooden motifs adorn the ceiling. The hotel location could not be better, I will let you look up how Feng Shui it turned out. Carpeting clean both in the hallways and room. Large mirror in room. Vanity mirror added to the bathroom. Ladies the bathroom has you in mind. Easy to find elevators. How often have you gone the wrong direction leaving your room? The panash of this little big hotel is not replicated anywhere else. It would be at home in Carmel. Sitting chair and foot supporter are very comfortable. I cannot remember of there is a desk chair, sorry. Closet light stays on when you flip the main switch and the doors close by themselves. The bathroom doors open with ease. They open outward. Two light switches, one for the shower and one for the main area All in all you will come back, Mr. Hansel has seen to that.…
We were headed to the Van Gogh Show, and this was very close. The beds were fine. Breakfast was available downstairs at Il Fornaio, with a pretty wide selection. The staff were helpful and pleasant. I am somewhat leery; when we left, the clerk said,” You’re good to go!” I’d like to have seen my charges before I checked out. Fingers crossed it will be accurate!
Absolutely horrid stay. We travel 10 days a month and this hotel is a full blown scam. Presidential suite booked for a birthday. Nothing in the room, nothing to drink or eat, everything closed. No water, no snacks and we’re told to to go somewhere else for everything. No movies, not even a premium channel , no service for anything. Sedwick the manger ignored our request for a dvd or something for the presidential suite for the birthday boy. Denise at the front desk took 3 calls from me over 30 minutes and basically told me to wait till Sedwick felt like calling. Zip, zero. Nothing and over 1200 bucks and not even water. They must be joking. I’m sorry to see the Fairmont gone, as this was our favorite. This Westin should be closed because they could care less about hospitality. There isn’t any here. I’m sure they will close soon. Westin in San Jose is the Worst hotel in California…
I have stayed here many times. They have integrated valet and bell hops in, since Pandemic, and there is one IN particular person I'd like to be recognized. I think his name is John. He's a front desk staff and he's always been super helpful. The new valets are awesome too!
I loved my room, with a nice view , kids enjoyed the food and staff was nice, specially Naty & John they were awesome and made sure we were happy with our stay and made sure we had what we needed. They even gave me suggestions on where I could get away for a drink with my friends! All within distance So we had a blast!
We came here on a retreat with my family. My mom forgot her ID at home so she couldn't check into her room. The people at the front desk couldn't be bothered to help us rebook the room under a different name and simply told us to go to a different hotel...Meanwhile the room we did get checked into was TINY and outdated. And worst of all, the AC was broken in the midst of a hot San Jose summer day. Book any other hotel downtown.
