Hyatt Place San Jose/Downtown is often praised for its prime location near the airport and downtown attractions, with guests appreciating the hotel's elegant atmosphere and inviting decor. While the spacious rooms and complimentary breakfast are highlights for many, some travelers express dissatisfaction with noise levels and room cleanliness.
The high parking fees have also been a point of contention, although the overall service receives commendations for staff professionalism and attentiveness. Despite some inconsistencies, the hotel remains a popular choice for its central location and amenities.

Detailed Reviews
I came for an event at the convention center, which was just a short walk away on the other side of the street. Since it's next to the convention center, it's right next to a light-rail station with a convenient connection to the airport.
Some other reviews complain of noise, and it's true that there was some, from trains and especially from planes (which fly rather close to the ground in the area). But personally I didn't mind it so I think the noise level depends on what you're used to. The hotel did provide a pair of earplugs, though.
It seems there were no ice machines. Instead, ice was provided in resealable plastic bags which were kept in coolers on every floor, which I thought was rather strange.
Breakfast was good and included lots of hot items, although it only ran until 9 or 10 AM depending on weekday or weekend and I missed it a few times as a late riser.
Parking was pricey, at $39 per night for valet parking (with no self-parking option).
Value is hard to judge because the rates were high due to the event (as one might expect). If you happen to be staying during Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend (and can't get the event's special rates), consider booking with World of Hyatt points (you can even buy them if you don't have them already).

Too much lingering COVID watch but the property and rooms were clean and comfortable. Continual downtown road repair and construction, as in many other cities, made access difficult and there was extremely limited parking. The breakfast offered was sort of take out, double wrapped and excused by COVID hygiene but it was just inexpensive. The location is right downtown San Jose, close to airport, convention center and Amtrak and light rail. It should have been great but wasn't.

The hotel staff is very attentive, the hotel is very clean and spacious. The check-in and check-out process is very efficient.
I don't recommend this hotel as a restful location, the windows are thin so the traffic noise in a downtown location goes on all night. My family kept waking up repeatedly because of the outside traffic noise. The breakfast was not up to par with other Hyatt Places within 4 weeks of each other, they offered a microwavable breakfast burrito, cereal, bagel, yogurt cups, juice and coffee. There was no hot breakfast, it wasn't worth staying here in my opinion, could of picked those items up at a convenience store and stayed at a much cheaper hotel.

Upon check in had no where to legally park my car, was told my dog was not allowed unless I paid a large fee to “clean the room” but booking.com sent email stating otherwise- front desk woman was not helpful or accommodating. No front door? I had to stand outside with transients asking me for money while waiting to be let into the building.
Had to park my car 6 blocks away and pay $45 in a really untrustworthy parking lot (when asking about parking she said I “could find somewhere”) then had to walk with my luggage and dog alone in the dark in a town I do not know to be put into a dangerous situation where I was once again followed up to the front door and harassed by transients with no one around feeling very unsafe. Once getting to my room I felt as if the room was not a normal level of cleanliness (from prior Hyatt stay experiences) but did not speak up as I just wanted to sleep and had been traveling from Oregon that day.
Waking up in the morning I found my dog eating a tampon he had found in the bedding. When I got out of bed I felt a piece of plastic in my pillowcase and found a tampon applicator. The complete disregard to cleanliness standards let alone currently being in a pandemic, I was appalled by the neglect to tend for a customers needs.
When I checked out, the gentleman at the front desk (Augustine?) was very apologetic and removed charges from the bill.
On my way home, my dog threw up the bloody tampon in my car and was taken to the emergency vet. (He’s now fine)
I had stayed at several hotels last month as I’d been traveling for about 2 weeks and could not believe the lack of service from the night front desk attendant and well as the filth I was unknowingly sleeping in.

We stay here every year when we arrive in the Cabo area. Middle week airfares are cheeper so you can stay at the Hyatt Place in San Jose for a few nights and still save money before going to your main resort.
This hotel is very nice. It is quiet and the rooms are comfortable. Some have ocean view. The staff are very helpful especially Alan Hernandez the assistant manager. He really is an amazing guy that cares for his customers. Our maid took care of our room nicely and was able to provide for any special requests we had. Unfortunately I can’t remember her name. We were there 2/24-28/2020. On the top floor. She needs recognition.
The breakfasts are typical with a Mexican flavor.
The bellman/security person Abilino was very helpful. He remembers your name and greets you by name every day. He also made sure the dining area was clean.
The little pool area is private and well kept.
The location is good and within walking distance of several restaurants including Cynthia’s and a large shopping center.
Very safe and convenient 20 minutes from the airport.

We stayed at this hotel when we went to San Jose to see Hamilton playing at the Performing Arts Center. The PAC is right across the street, so really convenient. The hotel doesn't currently have on-site parking, so you have to use valet, which is a $35 charge. They park your car about a block and a half away. They stored our luggage for us and kept our car past checkout so we could visit the Tech Museum the next day. That museum is right around the corner from the hotel, so also really convenient for us to walk to. Staff was friendly and helpful. They don't have a restaurant, but they do have a small snack bar, including beer and hard seltzers, which is available 24 hours. Breakfast is currently grab and go, but includes some items that can be heated in microwave like a frozen breakfast burrito or sausage/egg mcmuffin. Worked out good because I was able to grab the food during breakfast hours and go down later to heat it up once the family all woke up.

It's one of the best prices we could find in the DT San Jose area, and for the most part it is on par with a typical Hyatt stay. Location is great. The room was clean, but the bathroom was quite small. More than one person at a time, was awkward. Walls are quite thin and the AC unit is quite loud, but I always travel with a white noise machine and ear plugs, so both were manageable by using those. Breakfast options were ok, considering Covid. Most items were individually pre-packaged items. Like bagels, muffins, cereals, oatmeal, yogurts, and hard boiled eggs. Plus a few fruits like apples, bananas, and oranges. You could take as much, or as little as you wanted. It was nothing fancy, but plenty to fill you up for a day. Valet parking was a little tricky, since they are using a lot located down the block. This means their poor staff has to run back and forth to grab cars as guests ask for them. However, we found that this was easily managed by simply calling down to the front desk 10-15 minutes before we actually needed to leave, and our car was waiting out front each time. Basically, the property has flaws, but nothing that isn't easily managed with a little preparation.

We had quite a few problems here. To start you have to pay for valet which is $39/day. Our room was just okay, things seemed to be falling apart, shower handle came off when I turned it on and the door wouldn’t close right. Biggest problem was the ladies at front desk weren’t friendly or helpful. If you had a problem they didn’t seem to care and had the “that sucks for you” attitude. We were told we had to pay extra for bfast when we were told it was complimentary when we got there. There are a few hotels right next to this Hyatt and we wished we would’ve just got a room at one of those. If you add in having to pay for the valet and breakfast it would be probably around the same price for a better hotel and you’d have a much better experience.

My stay at Hyatt downtown San Jose on December 31 2019-January 1 of 2020 was one of the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. The room next to me where being loud all night from 3-6:30 am i complained multiple times to the lobby they sent up security once but that didn’t stop them. I would never recommend staying there to anyone! I definitely won’t be back there

Hello
Our hotel doesn't have a pool
It’s valet parking. They use one of the multi storey car parks close to the hotel & they’re all covered.
No. Single cup coffee. No ice machines small fridge
About a 15 minute walk, maybe longer with a stroller. Taxi or Uber might be an option since event parking at SAP center can be quite expensive.
The trolley stop is right up the street but we never used it while we were there.
