We enjoyed the proximity to the SAP center and the interior decor. This was the first time we could remember a front desk calling the room soon after check-in to make sure everything was as expected and we didn't need anything. The complimentary earplugs were a nice touch for being in the lively part of downtown but we didn't need them. Valet took time to explain different self parking options along the street and nearby parking structures. However not many open spaces were available and we'd have to move the car for street cleaning early in the morning. We chose the convenience of the valet during a rainy day.

Hotel De Anza is located in downtown San Jose about a 10-minute drive from the airport, SJC. The downtown location makes it close to sights, restaurants, and bars and the convention centre. The hotel is a beautifully preserved art deco building with the original neonlights on the rooftop. At the lobby level is reception, and the restaurant as well as the jazz lounge, and below is the fitness centre and meeting rooms. The fitness centre is a good mix of machines and weights with enough space for training. The rooms are the original style from the 1930s when the hotel was built and preserving the art deco style but with modern amenities and upgraded bathrooms. Overall, it is a nice historic property at the heart of San Jose, and if you want character, it is definitely the place. The only flaw is abomination of 'destination' fees and again for something that you either don't want or that should be included, and here it is coffee in the room, use of the fitness centre and WiFi.

We arrived on Wednesday afternoon in a rental car. Approaching the hotel we did not see any signage directing us to a registration entrance. We saw parking on Norte Dame street but some spaces were blocked by traffic cones. So we parked on the street in city parking. The door was locked so we had to ring the door bell. The staff responded and let us enter into lobby. A little awkward and unusual. When checking in we were told restaurants and bar were closed. Parking was three blocks away in a city garage since no valet parking was available. There also would be a $60 charge to use facilities we didn’t need or use.
The staff were very pleasant and did their best given circumstances. But since this was June, I believe the exit from COVID restrictions should have been more aggressive.
The room was good, but I did not like the quality of the bed, too firm for my tastes. Housekeeping services were by request so for our four day stay we asked them to service our room once. We loved the location and the proximity to downtown but as a Hyatt property we believe the standards were not in place for dealing with the guests in the emerging COVID environment.

All the staff from front desk to hotel valet/door to housekeeping were very kind and eager to help. For example, my colleage met me in the hotel lobby for a meeting. I asked my colleague if he wanted some water, I would go to my room to get some. The front desk person, eagerly offered each of a us a bottle of water without charge. That is the kind of extra effort that gains my appreciation and loyalty. Upon my check in, I arrived in my room to find a bottle of complimentary cabernet and a note thanking me for staying at the hotel and thanking me for my globalist status. I am also a Marriott Titanium member, I do not recall such gifts from Marriott. I do not remember all the staff members' names, but I ran into Renzo at the front desk a few times and appreciate his and his co-workers' welcoming service. The hotel cannot help the noise from the airplanes or obnoxious cars racing, but it was nice of the hotel to have ear plugs in the room.

First off we were able to checkin early 9am with no extra charge since there was a room available. Front staff was great. I do want to say there is nothing open for breakfast around the area walking distance until after 8am and only found a place called whispers which I highly recommend.

Had no issue with our room it was a little noisy but I had a weird dream that the place was haunted and I got pulled under the sheets in my dream. Then we heard a knock at our door and no one was there. Not sure on the history of this hotel but never experienced something like this before.

I would not stay hear again just because of my experience.

I arrived for a quick business trip. The location was convenient but be warned that the valet parking spaces are like a death trap with cars whipping around the corner with no clearance to get out of a parking space. The hotel generally clean but in need of of updating. The room furniture was dated and the bathroom wall paper was peeling. I was not thrilled that as I was getting ready in the morning for a meeting I learned the hair dryer did not work. I was rushed and didn't have time to wait for another one to be brought to my room. Also, if you are looking for a quiet location, this would not be it. While there were no issues with adjoining rooms, with the proximity to the airport, you could hear flights overhead. They did provide ear plugs in the room but wished I knew this sooner. I throughly read hotel reviews prior to booking but this one was unfortunately a miss for me and won't be returning to this hotel for my next trip to the San Jose area.

Completely not worth the price. The pictures on the website look better than the actual facilities. There are some cool architectural elements but not enough to really affect the atmosphere. The room we were given did not look anything like the pictures, so I’m wondering what the upgrade was? The tv and on demand services were not working, which was a big deal for use because we have one night away from kids in the year and we were looking forward to actually being able to watch a movie after dinner since we would not have to get up early the next morning with kids. The front desk waived our $17 destination fee for the inconvenience which is a mere drop in the bucket given what we are paying for the “upgraded” room and parking. It is in nice walking distance to restaurants but is otherwise lacking in any other convenience. If you are interested in historic hotels or just a relaxing night away, please look elsewhere.

My partner and I are local first responders, and were looking forward to our stay at Hotel DeAnza for a few weeks. We booked a room so we were able to sleep close to our base in between shifts and hopefully get extra rest during a long work week. Unfortunately, Hotel DeAnza was not accommodating in the least.

We both work night shift, and spoke to hotel staff and management a total of 3 times prior to our stay in regards to a late check out so we could get rest before our next shift. Staff ensured there would be notes on our account, however, in the morning a staff member called our room and woke us up, saying it was time to check out. This was at 11:00. We were told we would have until 1:00pm in the room. When we reminded them we asked for a late checkout, they said an extra hour would be $20. At this point we had to agree because we needed the hour to get up and ready to leave.

Additionally, this afternoon, we noticed the $75 hold that was placed on the card “in case of damages” upon check in was only refunded $50.

We are very disappointed in the service we received, not only because our vital sleep was interrupted but because we were so very looking forward to staying at this historic hotel and we’re really let down on the experience.

For $259 a night you would think the beds would not be as hard a rock and everything would be in working order in the rooms. There is no parking besides Valet for $40 a night which is not advertised. The restaurant that is advertised online wasn’t open and all they offered was vending machine snacks at the front desk. If you’re going to charge that much for a room, you should have better amenities and less broken items in the rooms.

The staff is super friendly and helpful. When I arrived and had to wait less than 5 minutes to check in, they staff gave me two bottles of orange juice for my children and apologized. No apology was necessary, someone was ahead of me in line. I paid for parking by the entrance (there are only a few spots that are valet on the weekend and self parking on weekdays, otherwise you pay for parking at the structure up the street, it is $25 either way). When we returned to the hotel around 9pm, all of the spots were full. I parked at a meter planning to move my car before 9am. A staff member was waiting for us at the door. She approached ME, and made sure I had paid for parking. She said she had been waiting for me and had saved a parking spot for me. She informed me that there was a street sweeper at 3am and told me I really needed to move my car now to the spot she had SAVED FOR ME. I still have no idea how she knew I was the last person who had paid for parking.

The lobby is lovely. The room was clean and smelled fresh. The bathroom was beautiful. I upgraded to the 2 queen room, and loved the floor space, totally worth it. I traveled with 2 kids, ages 7 and 9. This hotel is not a "kid friendly" hotel, meaning there was nothing specifically oriented towards kids, yet the kids were welcomed and treated nicely. The larger room was perfect for them to spread out.

For some people, it might be inconsequential, but I loved the shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash, bar soap, make-up remover, cotton pads, q-tips, nail file, hand sanitizer, shower cap, coffee pods, and bottled water for the coffee maker... All were quality, and several of those items came in handy. Those are the details that make a hotel stay exceptional.

Hello, We do not sell tickets to attractions at the Hotel, but we can certainly help you book tours and purchase tickets. There are a number of places to visit that are downtown, the ones a little further away would require transportation, taxi or rental. Again, we are very happy to help make the arrangements.
