I have been to the San Jose Inn now for some time. The rooms are clean yet simple, no frills. The room service/ cleaning crew is good. It is close to the airport. On the negative side, the ice maker doesn't work and the pool has been drained long ago. I don't use public pools, do this doesn't affect me. Prices vary so check before booking. I get a hit of a discount forbrenting their frequently.
Chose this hotel based on TA rating , price, and convenience to SJC. We had family flying in and meeting from Hawaii, DC, and LA. We planned to sleep and depart, so why pay more? Property makes a terrible first impression, 2 levels, no lobby, rooms open to parking lot, zero security. Looks run down. Our room was spacious, and updated in spartan decor: dark wood floors, queen beds, clean basic bath. Big screen TV. Good internet wifi. So it seemed ok once we looked at our room, and we settled in. Three of us shared a room (reserved for four), but we found only two sets of towels despite our reservation, and front desk said none available to add. Ridiculous. Few electrical outlets, couldn’t plug in phones to charge overnight. We could hear toilet flushing overhead, and shower did not have hot water. Room was otherwise quiet, we slept and departed. I got total grief from my family for this choice, which will have repercussions for future travel plans. I regret the decision to stay here. Not recommended. …
This is an older motel, with a drained pool full of dirt and debris. The stairs and the landings are filthy. The room was basic, with a built in desk (with no light) king size bed that had springs you could feel, and even hear when you sat down. Our shower door wouldn't stay closed and the toilet paper was sitting on the counter. The room was basically clean, wood laminate floors. Very harsh lighting, and a noisy location. The on-line pics make it look like there is breakfast, that is actually a plate of cookies and coffee.
Pros: This establishment is a low cost alternative motel to the surrounding hotels. If you are looking for hotel accommodations, you may not be happy. For a motel, the room had ample space and the bed was comfortable. There is coffee in the morning where you check in although the music they play is not comforting to sit there. There is a Denny's about 300 yards down the street and public transportation adjacent to the motel. With the $ I saved with the 2 motel rooms, we could spend more touring. The motel is surrounded by the major hotel chains so I did not find safety an issue. Cons: I was immediately charged a $100 deposit for damages plus the rates quoted. There is no elevator to get to the 2nd story rooms, no family common area room within your room and no golf course on site as publicized. The paper cups for the coffee are 4 ounces (bring your own cup). The room I stayed in and the drained pool are in need of repairs. When we decide to go back to Winchester Mystery House which is about 4 miles away, I would stay here again based on the low rates and proximity.…
I have been trying various 2-star motels in the area and this is one of the better ones. At these rates, I didn’t expect a high class room. The room was comfortable and I liked that they had laminate floors vs carpet. There’s also a mini fridge and iron. Dish network satellite on TV, I only wish there was a sleep timer. My only complaint inside the room were probably the pillows. They are not very soft/puffy and were very low profile.
