The front desk staff, especially Cash, were so friendly and really took care of my husband and I. They remembered our names and called us by them for the duration of our stay. For what we were in town for, the location was perfect, within walking distance of the venue we were going to. Room was comfortable, not enough outlets close to nightstands to charge phones, etc, had to unplug their "old fashioned" phone in order to charge my phone. The worst part was that the service at the front desk was the most horrid we ever experienced. We arrived at 5 p.m., after "check in time" and were told the room was not ready because someone checked out late. The woman who initially took care of us was very kind, she got us drink tickets and stored our luggage while we waited. She went ahead and ran our credit card for the usual expected deposit for incidentals. Then, we went to wait in the bar - thankfully, it was still quiet. After a half hour or more, no one came to tell us the room was ready or anything so I walked back over to see and I wish I had gotten the man's name as he was so rude. "We already told you it was not ready yet ....." and THEN he looks at their computer and says, "Oh, it's ready ...." No apology etc. THEN, he asks for my card again to "run the deposit for incidentals" , I said the other woman already did that. He argued that it was not done yet. I pulled up my account on my phone and showed him the "pending charge" to Four Points Sheraton for 100$. He said, "That's not charged yet, it says "pending", we need to run the card..." I told him and showed him that the 100$ had been deducted already and "on hold", he kept insisting that it had not been charged yet and then finally said "Whatever" and treated me dismissively. THEN, he yelled at the other young woman working there to get the other woman back (the one who had nicely helped us already) - loudly, in front of us and other guests, "Go get her back in here before I fire her!! I work in a customer service job, I don't care what kind of day you've had, you don't DO that EVER in front of paying customers/guests. First woman comes back to finish our check-in process. He must have told her some nonsense and she asked for our card again, I said she already did that and she said, "Yes, they need to do it again so that it shows up on their end ...." That made NO sense, since it had already been subtracted on our end! GUESS WHAT - now we had TWO charges for 100 on our card, listed as pending, BUT the money was deducted on hold. So now we have 200 dollars LESS available to us instead of only 100. We waited until check out the next day to mention the double charge even though I knew that the money would go back in a few days, I just wanted them to be aware of the mistake! The original man SAW me and rolled his eyes. He sent another man to speak to me - he treated me like an idiot, explaining how banks and "pending charges" work - I KNOW how a bank works, I wanted to know why they had to charge us twice for the 100$ hold. He just kept repeating how the money would be back in 2 to 3 days. I said, "I UNDERSTAND that, but it should have been only 100 put on hold to us, NOT 200 ..." It was not correct, they were very rude and what I really expected was an APOLOGY - like "sorry, we made a mistake and ran that deposit twice, sorry for any inconvenience" NEVER encountered such rudeness at ANY hotel. It was appalling. It's sad that the Marriott name is attached to this location. I wish I had noted their names but I didn't expect them to be so rude and condescending and that caught me off guard. It put a bad mark on our entire experience over all. Others beware of their attempts to charged the deposits more than once.

The staff was very friendly and helpful during my stay. And even offered me free water so I wouldn't have to go out to the store. The rooms were clean and quiet plus the bed was very comfortable. I definitely recommend staying here when you come to San Jose.

A cute hotel in a great location for Downtown San Jose restaurants and activities. Room, at least the one we had, was large. That being said, was very disappointed to find the restaurant serving breakfast was closed. Due to my Bonvoy status, was even given the option at check-in to either take points or the free breakfast. Since my wife was travelling with me, we opted for breakfast. Imagine the surprise when we walked downstairs at 7:15 am to see a hand written sign taped to the restaurant door saying 'Closed Today'. When we asked the Front Desk agent what was going on and what our options were, we were simply told the restaurant is contracted to a 3rd party and the hotel owner called letting them know they would be closed today. After returning to the hotel after finding a Starbucks, we approached the front desk to ask to get the extra Bonvoy points since we did not receive breakfast. A different agent from 45 minutes earlier told us we could go to their sister property two blocks away for breakfast. Of course, this did nothing for us since we already ate elsewhere but did mention to her that it would have been nice to know that earlier. Up to that point, we had a nice stay, though I will admit the hotel's pillows and mattress were uncomfortably soft. After this experience, not sure why I would ever stay here on future visits.

This hotel is trying, but they're falling far short. The hotel is going through a significant renovation. The lobby and public areas were newly redone and looked very tasteful and nice. Our room had also recently been redone. The room was big, everything was fresh and new, and decorated nicely. However....... In the bathroom, there is only one hook for hanging wet towels, so the other had to be hung over the shower curtain bar. There were no lights over the vanity, only one overhead light in the bathroom, and it was towards the shower, so when you're standing at the sink, half your face was lit and the other half was in shadow. The toilet was very low; would have been nice if they had invested a few extra dollars in a comfort height toilet. There is a small TV mounted on the wall, on the complete opposite side of the room from the bed; with such a small screen, and being clear across the large room, it's hard to see. There's very little storage; I stacked my clothes on the shelf in the closet; my wife lived out of her suitcase. The coffee set up in the room is completely inadequate; a small Kuerig type brewer with enough coffee for 2 small cups, and insufficient creamer and sugar. Making it worse: there's no coffee station in the lobby! For this traveller, not having a good supply of coffee is a cardinal sin. It is in a convenient location; easily walkable to some good restaurants and other attractions. We've stayed here twice. Third time will not be the charm. The location isn't enough to overcome the poorly laid out room and lack of amenities.

If I could give zero stars I would. The front desk supervisor Andy was extremely and unnecessaryly condescending and would not listen to our concerns at all and only gave us the number of the front desk to call tomorrow to deal with it. We booked an online reservation that included free parking (with receipts) but were still charged for 5 days of parking. We are Marriott gold members, spend hundereds at them frequently and often travel out of San Jose but we will never be back here. We were excited for this to be our go-to spot to stay. Its much cheaper to park at a third party place but their website is very disingenuous with their promotions so you think you're getting a better deal. The room wasn't clean, either, but the biggest issue was Andy. He should be ashamed of his customer service. I am shocked at how rude he was and have no idea how he is a supervisor. Park and fly costumers be ware!

Pre-covid this was my weekly San Jose hotel. It has a lot going for it, including being in a good location with quick access to downtown locations + the streetcar. Yes, the rooms are tired, but the people are nice and it generally met my needs. Unfortunately, on my return this past week I found myself repeatedly facing billing issues and generally feeling scammed by the hotel. Previously I would recommend this to my work colleagues who preferred the Westin/Marriott nearby, but I guess I’ll be switching to recommend the opposite. That’s the summary but full incidents below. — As an ambassador elite, I chose complimentary breakfast as my perk. They were out of paper vouchers and told me to just go eat the breakfast and they would apply it to my account. Well, they ultimately billed me for it and couldn’t change it. Luckily for me, I only ate breakfast once, but for someone to get charged an extra $15/day ($30/day for a couple) and find out after would be frustrating to say the least. The hotel restaurant, mosaic, used to be my favorite. I was excited to eat there again and enjoy my faves. I ordered a half-salad with steak on top. They rang me in the salad + a full steak dish instead. When the bartender brought it over I told him it was wrong and I ordered the steak on top of the salad, and he told me to just keep it, presumably because it’s a similar result. I said fine and ate it. Then the bill came and they did indeed charge me the steak at $40 vs the $15 steak-add. I felt it was really dishonest, but was just going to deal with it because maybe I should have just really insisted the bartender take it back. But the worst part was the way they handled it, acting like I was trying to con them or had ordered wrong when I pointed out the issue. Really frustrating considering how agreeable I tried to be about it. I don’t think it was a one-off either, the place seemed pretty disorganized and messed up several orders that evening. At the end of the day, I’m less personally affected as I’m just expensing on my corp card, but it’s frustrating to have two incidents of this in a week.

I travelled from England for my first visit to California and my first visit to San Jose. Close to the train station and perfect for the downtown area. There's no breakfast options and the surrounding area doesn't have much on offer. I walked 15-20min to Whole Foods and brought food and drink back to my room. Spacious standard room in fine condition with a reilable wifi service. All the staff were very welcoming.

I was attending an event at SAP Center and found this to be an affordable hotel in the area. The staff was friendly and I was able to check-in early, which was nice. The rooms are a little dated. Overall it was an alright stay.
