My husband and I highly recommend this hotel due to the professionalism and kindness of the staff. The room is clean and beds very comfortable. Due to our long term stay Cheska the manager has be so gracious in making sure our experience was pleasant and as comfortable as it could be to being at home. The hotel is conveniently located in walking distance to nearby theatres and a great Italian restaurant across the street called Il Fornaio. Overall a great stay:)
Overall we enjoyed our stay here. The location is good, with many restaurants within walking distance. Which you will want to have, since the parking car situation is not idea. I could not even pull up to the hotel to unload the suitcases since it was jammed with cars getting valet service. There is a parking garage attached to the hotel so we parked there but it is pricey and if you park yourself, you pay the garage directly and there is a fee every time you come and go which is ridiculous. The club lounge was nice for the afternoon snack, but bad for the dessert/snack which was just some awful stale cake and that was it. Breakfast was good though with fresh fruit, oatmeal, eggs, bacon, etc. and coffee. A big plus was the fact that they have a laundry room with 2 washers, 2 dryers. Strangely though, they only take quarters, and a lot of them are required, but no change machine there so you will have to go to the front desk with cash to change since it is doubtful that you will happen to have 12 quarters in your pocket. The machines do a good job though so that was a big plus. The TVs did not work while we were there which was super irritating. They would work for a few minutes, then the screen would freeze for a few minutes, etc. This went on for both days I was there and of course during the Wimbledon Final that we were trying to watch. They were having some kind of issue throughout the hotel with this but the front desk seemed to think it was all fixed when it was not. Overall, an ok stay. It's a decent building with a nice lobby area in a good location and the plus of having laundry machines. But parking/car situation was not ideal and the TV situation was so annoying.…
Stayed here on an overnight break from LAX to Mendocino. This is a basic mid level Marriott property. Pros - very clean rooms. M lounge open 24 /7, great location and if you are upgraded some rooms have outdoor balconies. Breakfast at M Lounge also quite decent. Downsides - appetizers in lounge were weak. Nothing super special. Overall, recommend. If you stay here also consider the San Pedro Market food court for meals.
The rooms were not clean. The guest service was unhelpful and unresponsive regarding any of the questions even to Bonvoy members in our party. I would avoid this hotel as there are many better reputable brand options nearby.
I had an awful time at this Marriott. I wanted to see if there's anything I can do with my current situation with the San Jose Marriott staff. To keep it short, I booked a stay with San Jose Marriott and had a family and friends discount ready. However I was also having an issue with getting into my room - so that was something I was prioritizing because we couldn't get in multiple times. I provided them with a printed form for the discounted rate but provided them with one that expired that day. So I was told by their front desk associate that I can email them the updated form to receive the discount. He then told me to take a picture of their hotel email and send the form. If I did not send the form that same night then I would be charged for a normal rate. So I took his advice and sent the form the same night once I got into the room. I even stated in the email to ask for a confirmation back to understand that they have received it but they did not send me one. A week later I found out I was charged with a normal rate which was about $300~ and was supposed to be about $107~. A kind supervisor - Quentin Robinson, from the property reached out to me stating that I would receive my discounted rate via email which was at first great customer service. However, today the Director - James Fridman, told me I cannot get the discount because I did not have the corrected printed form at check in. I called him and he said there is nothing I can do about it and that I am at fault - when clearly the front desk associate told me to forward the email the same night. I do have proof of the email sent on that same day, a photo of the email I took from the associate at the front desk, and the email from the supervisor telling me I would receive my discounted rate. I was provided with the worst customer service from James and he even threatened me saying, "Do you want your family member to get in trouble at their property for providing you the discount?". Eventually he said we can keep arguing about this but will not issue me any discount on my stay - even when the form was emailed directly to them. I was blamed to be at fault when it should be the front desk associate who told me I can receive my discount if I forwarded my email to the hotels email and the director held me accountable when his supervisor already stated I would get a refund. Such a shame and was really done wrong here.…
A good stay in this downtown San Jose hotel. The room was average in size with a good bed, clean bathroom and a workstation area. The bonus of the on site laundry machines was very welcomed. Very nice lobby bar and great staff.
Due to Omicron variant sneaking up on us at the beginning of the new year 2022, FC had to ‘postpone’ the convention set for January 13th-18th. It was a rash last minute decision, which caught many by surprise. I decided to keep my reservation at SJ Marriott and stay the weekend that FC 2022 was scheduled to happen (Jan. 13-17, cutting the stay short by one day.) I was able to get valet parking on con rate (Thanks, Zandy!!!) and she also upgraded me once again to a Junior Suite on the corner (Room 700, with impressive city skyline view) - Zandy is a wonderful employee that cares for her guests and makes you feel welcome. She was bummed out the con was postponed, but we did have other Furries staying at the hotel this year compared to last year’s shutdown. I was able to make the weekend an ‘unofficial’ FC meet, meeting up with local Bay Area Furries and we took pics inside and outside the San Jose Convention Center!! (Pics to come) Also, as I’m now Marriott Bonvoy ‘Platinum’ - had open access to their new “M Club” lounge on lobby level, with evening reception and unlimited snacks, soft drinks, water and tea. Loyalty pays off!! I truly loved the new “M Club” and I hope to see this concept branch out to other full-service Marriott properties. Overall, I wanted to support the hotel and local eateries that cater to us - that’s why I decided to come up. I’m hoping that FC ‘might’ reschedule for later this year. We will see. I hope to return later this spring or summer. FIVE CLAWS UP!!!!! Thanks for reading my review of San Jose Marriott. Bear Hugs!! Joe G Bear - Redondo Beach, CA…
We booked the SJ Marriott purely based on location, price and reviews. While the hotel itself is your average Marriott and they are doing the best under the COVID circumstances - their overall guest experience and lack of signage/communication is terrible. We arrived at the hotel around 3:30pm - I knew from past experience at the Convention Center that there was dedicated Marriott guest parking in the Convention Center garage. We approached the designate area and aside from a sign noting Marriott Valet and an access gate there was no way to access the area. Now trying to save ourselves an extra step I figured park, check-in, tell them I am self parking and done. Nope - first I called the hotel to ask about the parking situation - after an unusually long number of prompts and rings I get a hotel staff member who is not understanding my question (and this was not due to a language barrier). I ask how we are to access the guest parking in the self park area and I am told it's full. Ummmm excuse me I am parked right outside the self park area and I see dozens of empty spaces. So I say where am I supposed to park - she says anywhere in the convention center parking garage that is open. Ummmm again I am trying to save myself from walking miles with luggage. I then decide to head back up to the main entrance where I find a doorman and a security guard. There is still no obvious signage about checking-in or parking. All I know is from the website the valet service is not open at this time. I ask the security guard what we do to access parking and he says oh here park right there (mind you illegally and likely blocking myself in with other guests) and check-in. So I do this - and leave my husband with the keys. I check-in and express my frustration to the front desk at the lack of signage and direction on how guest parking works. The women essentially shrugs me off. Finally explains to me that I need a key card and there is a charge of $23/night plus a $50 key card deposit for self parking. FINE - but again if you had shared this via some signage or your website it would save EVERYONE - staff, guests, security a lot of frustration. When we returned to the parking garage we found at least 2-3 more cars attempting exactly what we did - to access the self park area. There's no intercom and no signage. A simple sign - please check-in at main entrance, or something in the email that is sent prior to arrival would go a long way! Further more better signage in the parking garage elevator and just outside the elevator directing you to the Marriott area would help. SIGNAGE, SIGNAGE, SIGNAGE...really not hard and well worth the money. After calming down I tried to chalk this all up to the fact they are a convention hotel where the average guest does not park/drive - but these are not average times so I recommend management walk the guest's path and think about it as a guest would - assume nothing and over communicate.…
Stayed here for 5 nights while visiting the grand kids. The hotel staff was helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. We used the pool and gym and everything was kept sanitized (thank you Covid). Unfortunately, a lot of the downtown area has been negatively impacted by Covid and the homelessness and closed restaurants and businesses kept us in the hotel. Having a Starbucks in the lobby along with a decent restaurant for a quick bite (nothing fancy) was a plus. I did have Uber-eats twice because it was late and everything was closed. Super busy lobby with flight crews coming and going. Great view of the foothills from our 11th floor room. Would definitely stay here again.
I have been a Marriott Gold member for years. Upon checking into the Marriott room I immediately noticed all the dust in the room and the divider in between the bed and sitting area had dust and something “brown” that looked awful. I called down to get extra towels and a rollaway, and asked to have housekeeping clean the room and the MOD - Stephanie - was so RUDE! And dismissive and just put me down and cut me off. Completely UNACCEPTABLE! SHE NEEDS TO GO BACK TO MARRIOTT School ! After being told we could NOT HAVE EXTRA TOWELS or a roll away, and that no one was going to come clean the room - we immediately checked out! Such a disappointment and totally grossed out. With COVID in the rear mirror you’d think cleanliness and kindness would be a priority. Clearly I was wrong. DON’T STAY HERE! Gross👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻…
