Newly remodeled! Clean, modern, relaxing areas to recharge, fire pits, lovely pool, staff was extremely attentive!! Stayed for 3 days for conference and felt guilty because I felt like I was on vacation. Food was delicious too! Be sure to take a stroll on their beautiful path to park. You can’t go wrong choosing this place!!!

Love the history and location of Hayes Mansion! Avendale park was once Frontier Village that I went to as a kid! I’ve since moved out of CA and was back visiting friends. Liked my stay at this now Hilton property. Peaceful, comfortable, clean, quiet, safe! Due to CoVid restaurants were closed and as a Hilton member we’re given a credit to use in the marketplace. The marketplace has limited offering and wasn’t restocked during my stay :( There were a couple other minor inconveniences that were annoying in my room but nothing major! Thus the lower rating in service since I was told a manager would call. Didn’t happen :(

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time! The property was absolutely gorgeous, the history was so cool and I loved all of the fancy decorations. I must say that Jackie at the front desk was exceptional, she went out of her way to make sure that we had an amazing time.... a fantastic employee!!! We live in Santa Cruz not too far away and we will definitely be back next time with the kids and I can't wait to jump in that heated pool.

This hotel is so beautiful, the employees were awesome, Jackie at the front desk was so helpful.while checking us in. She explained everything to us about this beautiful property, we are so happy with our stay. I loved the decor of the room, it has such a nice vintage of great mid century feel to it. The restrooms were nice size. Very clean. Everything was so great!

Very neat and clean hotel. The room was just our style with modern and vintage touches. We had a suite with a large balcony and really enjoyed ourselves. The front of the hotel faces a park and is welcoming. Wish the parking lot was gated, but felt safe overall.

The hotel/mansion is surrounded by a basic neighborhood. When first arriving, I was definitely impressed with the beauty of the building. It was late, there were lights streamed across the courtyard and people sitting out by fire pits. Check in went well, the staff was extremely nice and one even walked us through the mansion, pointing out historical facts and she directed us toward our room. The reason for the three starts with the room itself and ends with the breakfast. First, we got on the elevator up to our room and were greeted with an awful smell. We then went down the dimly lit halls to our room. The room was small, extremely dark and lacks functional lighting. The bathroom, though small was very nice. The bed was quite comfortable. Our room had a balcony that contained a chair and table for one (wish I took a picture). The balcony is so crammed and the stucco wall is so high, that if I was to sit in the chair I’d just be stuck between two dirty stucco walls with no view of anything. In addition to the balcony being dirty, and small, the standing view is unimpressive. My husband did enjoy watching the squirrels while I got ready in the morning though lol. Now for breakfast - the breakfast is a typical buffet style continental breakfast. Mildly warm eggs, cold bacon, cut fruit, cereal cups. The cost for breakfast isn’t posted anywhere, so this serves to warn you, it’s $22 per person regardless of what you eat. You won’t know the charge unless you ask, or like us, as a surprise as you are presented with the bill. You’re better off finding somewhere better for the money. Overall, it was fine. Skip the restaurant, not worth it, and don’t set your expectations too high for the room.

Check in was difficult and the woman was almost impossible to understand. She wasn't really familiar with the rooms and pressured me to take a room that had a foldout sofa telling me it was a real significant upgrade. The room didn't have a pleasant view and the beds were extremely uncomfortable. By the time you get in your pajamas and get into bed I did not feel able to change rooms. It is a beautiful place and it is extremely difficult to park near your room. I don't believe I would ever return to this location.

The Hayes Mansion is a glimpse into history. The mansion is warm and welcoming and the staff is focused on your every request. If you are bored with staying at a "typical" hotel. Select the Hayes Mansion and you will not be disappointed. It is stepping back in time with all of the modern conveniences. We loved our stay and look forward to our return.
