The lobby employees are rude, and very unhelpful. When you ask questions or directions, they will make you feel that you are bothersome. I saw someone fell trying to get to the elevator, she was trying to find the restroom because no one seems to be there to help out the customer. I ended up helping the person. They put us in a room where there was a wedding party below our room. We couldn’t sleep because of the loud noise . I called to ask how long is the party going to be, and they told me not until 11:00pm. I complained about us not being able to sleep. She made us feel like we just have to suck it up, or go to a different room at 10 pm, move our luggage and all. They could have at least told us what yo expect or give us an option to switch rooms when we checked in.

Love the history and location of Hayes Mansion! Avendale park was once Frontier Village that I went to as a kid! I’ve since moved out of CA and was back visiting friends. Liked my stay at this now Hilton property. Peaceful, comfortable, clean, quiet, safe! Due to CoVid restaurants were closed and as a Hilton member we’re given a credit to use in the marketplace. The marketplace has limited offering and wasn’t restocked during my stay :( There were a couple other minor inconveniences that were annoying in my room but nothing major! Thus the lower rating in service since I was told a manager would call. Didn’t happen :(

I booked a two night stay at the Hayes Mansion Curio Collection by Hilton in San Jose from February 20th-22 and the first day was great. The second day was the most inconvenient stay I’ve ever had. When I finished my work day I noticed all the lights were out in the building, the elevator not working and of course my worst fear came true (the entire facility lacked electricity). I proceeded to walk over to the lobby where I had a conversation with the front desk staff and the manager was there explaining the options for the patrons of the hotel. I was advised that guess would be refunded for the day since the hotel could not provide any service due to lack of electricity. The staff was friendly and advised me of other Hilton’s that had electricity, I proceeded to go to my room to pack my items (in the dark). I walked back to the lobby and advised the front desk that I intended to check-out and I proceeded to go to another Hilton property that had electricity. - Before I left the state on February 24th, I called and left a voicemail with the manager Darren Matsuda that I expected a credit for one day as the manager on duty advised me. - February 27th I called my credit card company to see if a credit posted to my account and I was advised that no credit had been issued. - March 15th I called my credit card company again to see if a credit posted to my account and I was advised that no credit had been issued. - March 15th I called the hotel and left another voicemail with the manager Darren Matsuda that I expected a credit for one day as the manager on duty advised me. - March 15th I left a written summary of the events of February 21st and what the manager on duty advised patrons of on the hotel’s website again leaving my contact information. - March 15th I left a written summary of the events of February 21st and what the manager on duty advised patrons of through the message hotel feature in the Hilton app. I was advised of the following message “Good afternoon. My apologies Manager has been very busy but will get back with you at his earliest convenience”. Well today marks the 24th day since I initially reach out to the manager of this facility without a response. The management is very unprofessional, unresponsive and untrustworthy of keeping their word. I hope this Hilton Hotel is not representative of other Hilton properties!!! Lovely hotel. Plenty of space to hang out with family without having to sit in restaurant. Would love to return when weather is warmer because the pool area and sitting areas around property look very relaxing.

We stayed therefor two nights for a volleyball tournament at The Plex. This hotel was less than 10 minutes from the tournament so we where able to get back and forth without any issues. The staff was polite and friendly. The rooms clean and the property was well-kept.

I am a Hilton Gold member. This was one of the worst experiences I've had at a Hilton property or any other in a long time. Maggie at the front desk was rude and inept from the beginning at check-in and misled me about parking charges. Anita from accounting was unhelpful and useless. And Darren the 'Manager' was completely MIA and unable to resolve anything.

Nice hotel in a very pretty park setting. Great experience with just one or two minor complaints.... Outside lighting is awful, parking lots are extremely dark and feel unsafe....and as always, outside building room numbers do not correspond with numbers on hotel maps. Still, well-maintained and great staff, so a very nice place to stay.

The place was very nice. The room was very clean and the pillows and the mattress were not saggy. Truly worth it. The front desk person Jackie was very helpful at check in and also at checkout. A place I wouldn’t mind returning to. The personnel at breakfast ( a guy and a girl) were also very professional. We couldn’t sit down for a breakfast so they gave us a take out box of the croissant sandwiches and coffee.

I usually enjoy Hiltons, but this hotel was a disappointment. The reception area was pitch dark, the reception personnel have to work with just the light of their computer screens. The building is a great old mansion, but I had to lug a heavy bag to another building at night to get to my room, and the room was disappointing. Dark, musty, and facing a loading dock. ...... There are strange smells throughout the hotel, and they're trying to cover them up with even stronger-smelling cleaners, I guess. No room service. The staff at the front desk and in the restaurant (small and sort of institutional in decor) were all wonderfully nice, and the breakfast buffet was a good deal and lots of fresh food available. ..... The smells are everywhere, it does make me wonder what's going on, and if it's safe.…

This is a historic hotel. My room was at the 3rd floor. It was clean and quiet. Well-designed regarding where things were placed. All hotel employees I met were helpful and friendly. Good location for my two-day business trip. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
