Harvest Inn has one of the most beautiful surroundings I have ever seen. Loved the room. Well located in St Helena with multiple wineries at very close distance. Excellent service since check in and also restaurant. Very romantic for couples.

Hotel's Favorite
Except for 10 days of evacuation due to wildfires, I spent the past six months at my home. For a traveler like me, this was more of a challenge than trekking the Himalaya. I chose Harvest Inn as a way to test the travel waters, so to speak, and I was quite pleased. I stayed in a vineyard view room with a spa. This spacious room was separated into two areas by a pony wall: the bed had a view of the vineyard, the living room area had a view of the large lawn and redwoods. The bed area opened to a brick patio with a hot tub, a lounge chair, two sitting chairs and a table. Except for an occasional walker, the patio was private, with a tall wall separating my unit from the one next door. The bathroom had a double sink, separate tub, and shower. It came well equipped with towels to make up for the lack of routine housekeeping during my stay. The trees and the offset of the buildings cushion the rooms from the highway noise. It is difficult to believe the Inn in on the major Napa thoroughfare. There are several “pods” of buildings, each designed to have its own ambience. For example, one has a koi pond. Mine had a large lawn and twisty brick chimneys and support columns. The brick work all over the property is quite artful and worth a stroll to admire. Harvest Inn has chairs set at various places on the property. If you don’t book a vineyard view room, you can still enjoy the views with a glass of wine. The vineyard just outside the vineyard view rooms is used by Whitehall Lane Vineyards. Harvest Inn guests can walk through the vines and admire them, but no picking. The rows and rows of grapes just about ready to be harvested were a delight to walk through. My room came with a complimentary bottle of Whitehall Lane wine. That’s helped me resist the temptation to see what the grapes tasted like! Harvest Inn made many changes to accommodate the COVID protocol. I hope that most of them end up as standard in the future. They have online check-in so that when you arrive, you need only to pick up your key. They eliminated all the paper and magazines in the room. That’s more room to spread out your things! Housekeeping is only by request, which means I can sleep in and not be woken by a knock on the door. Three nights at Harvest Inn rejuvenated me!

We have stayed in a couple of different places in Napa county and this was hands down the best for the price and location. Our room (425) was spacious, airy, and quiet. We enjoyed the fireplace with our complementary bottle of wine. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was also spacious (two sinks, separate shower and tub). We overlooked the pool and were literally a 4 minute walk to the vineyards. The restaurant breakfast was the perfect way to start our day and we enjoyed the camaraderie with other guests at the bar in the afternoon. as we had a glass of wine or water (depending on the day) and bar bites. The grounds are lovely to wander and it is a ton of fun to walk in the vineyards. We loved grabbing a cup of coffee, taking an early morning walk and then grabbing a great breakfast.

Just that. We have always wanted to stay at this hotel, but frankly the price puts me off. This time we were on a trip with friends who stay here all the time so we ponied up the cash to be co-located. I have to say, it started off less than wonderfully, but ended on a high note. Our first room was a lower floor room and the toilet from the upstairs room sounded as though it was constantly filling. It was quite loud and we knew it would keep us up all night. On our way out for dinner we stopped in the lobby and mentioned the issue. The staff indicated they would look into it and we set off for dinner. After dinner we checked in to see if they had resolved the issue. No, but, please take this other room. The room change was offered without our even asking (though we were prepared to go that route) and an offer to help move us was extended, though declined. The new room was close to the old and we didn’t have much to transfer. The room was an “upgrade” of sorts, king bed as opposed to queen, but other than that it was pretty comparable…. except this one was very quiet. We had a restful two nights in the new room and very much appreciate the way the staff dealt with the situation. The grounds are wonderful at this hotel and that is the main reason our friends stay here. They appreciate being able to stroll around the vineyard out back or sit and relax under the trees. It was wet and cold this trip, but we did walk through the grounds. There are numerous places to sit and relax and if it weren’t raining it would be a very nice place to bring you sack lunch. We did eat one of our lunches on the porch of the lobby which has two sitting areas and is covered. It was a pleasant place to relax before heading our for an afternoon of wine tasting. Another bonus is the fact that the hotel is walking distance from a number of nice restaurants in St. Helena. We did eat breakfast once at the hotel. The food was good, but the menu is limited. The coffee was great.

Let me start by saying that The Harvest Inn has a special place in our hearts. We were married at the hotel during harvest season in 2011, have returned 3 additional times since then, and just spent a weekend at the hotel to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. This past visit convinced us The Harvest Inn ONLY cares about is weddings and their guests and quality is nowhere near commensurate with the prices they are charging. We paid $1300/night and our stay was a HUGE disappointment. $4000 + later, we are angered by the overall experience and will not be recommending or returning. Even after reaching out multiple times to remedy our issues, no one was able to do anything nor did they seem to care. First, we checked into our room and were given a vineyard view room that was on the second floor. We asked specifically for a 1st floor room that was in the 300 section. Neither was provided. The room we did get looked like a Super 8 with a nice fireplace. These beautiful cottages are a mere husk filled with bargain bin IKEA furniture that forces a square peg of modern aesthetic into a round hole of rustic beauty that's made Napa famous. After dinner that evening at the Harvest Table, I went to the front desk and guest services apologized and said they would move us to the 300 block of rooms the next morning if we packed all of our stuff up and had it waiting by the front door. Yes, this was a hassle for us, but to get a room to meet our expectations (and the huge sticker price) we were willing to do so. The next day, we were transferred rooms. However, were notified that the room was just one story directly below the one we had and it did not have a working firepit or fireplace. When we went into our 'new' room, the robes provided had pink lipstick and makeup on them… they were dirty. There were wine rings on the counters, it was an ADA-accessible room with no tub or regular shower, and the hotel room seemed dirty. We were furious and disappointed. We called and no one answered. So my husband went to the front desk. There was nothing they could or would do, saying the 300-level cottages were all reserved for wedding guests. Let's recap: We were provided a glossed-up Super 8 motel room on night 1 and a remodeled and much larger with patio, yet dirty and non-working room on night 2. How on earth could they be charging us the same thing? How does this room cost the same as a suite in the 300 blocks that we have stayed in and KNOW are nicer? We feel slighted and ripped off. Three weddings that weekend- Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, took precedent over us. Returning guests there for a romantic and special weekend to celebrate our 10 year anniversary at a place we got married… and had spent $85K at. What a joke! The Harvest Table: Our expectations were not met whatsoever compared to what the Harvest Table used to be and provide. We had dinner and breakfast at the Harvest Table during our 3 night stay. For dinner, the fixed menu was $60 per person and $22 for wine pairing. As I will explain in detail following this statement, dinner was a HUGE disappointment considering we paid over $450 with tip after additions. Overall, it seemed as though the food was based on whatever was being served at the wedding on site that night. We were the 'leftovers'. Overall, the food was not fresh and of poor quality. To start, the soup was cold. We actually googled to see if that type of soup was supposed to be served cold. It wasn't. The salad was just greens with a few toppings with some vinaigrette. Nothing special. For the main course, the halibut was served with a sauce that masked the 'fishy' and not fresh taste. The steak was not a good cut and was served medium with fat around the edges. Not palatable. Potatoes and veggies included with both dishes were cold and hard. Applebee's could have provided better, which says a lot. The wine that was served seemed as though it had been sitting in a bottle and oxidized past its prime. I had to turn it away and ask for a new bottle of something comparable to be opened. How does this happen in NAPA!? Our waiter was the only thing that made us provide a tip. He was so sweet and nice and it seemed as though he had no say in any of the food or wine. He simply served what he was given by the kitchen and bar. Breakfast- We ate breakfast at the harvest table after our second night. Our expectations after dealing with the shortcomings of the hotel overall were extremely low, so we left ample time. However, everything took 2 x as long as it should have and was comparable to Denny's. Awful. There isn't anywhere else within the entire hotel to get water or snacks anytime before 8am. Additionally, it would have to be through the restaurant or bar. We went on a balloon ride through Napa and could not even get fresh coffee or prepackaged snacks that morning other than the crappy Keurig in our room. How is The Harvest Inn still considered a 5 star hotel that will go beyond for it's customers?
