I can not believe that this is a two star hotel. Should be at least three stars. Outstanding value for the money. Great staff and a pool. Breakfast is much better then average, and you can make your own waffle.
No one could answer the phone it just rang and rang then it hung up. Not a good way to do business…. The problem I have with some mom and pop motels is that they have no concept of how to do business. I hope they do better in the future but most likely current management will need to be replaced
Advertised cooked breakfast was mediocre, the potatoes were insipid with no flavour, and there wasn't any bread, muffins, or pastries of any kind. It was probably the worst breakfast that we have ever encountered! As for the property itself, the room was clean and the beds were comfortable.
Just needed a hotel for an overnight stay between landing at SMF late at night and driving out in the morning to Yosemite. I didn’t want to stay in downtown/midtown, but wanted to have easy access to it. Also wanted convenient access to good shopping, which Arden definitely has. Got a good price for this hotel considering my booking was last minute (within 24 hours of arrival). I’m not from Sacramento, so I couldn’t get a good read on how safe this area is. On one hand, it’s definitely heavily commercial with many shopping centers and chain restaurants. On the other, there definitely appeared to be some “sketchy” pockets here and there. It could just have just been my hypervigilance as a father. Nothing even remotely dangerous happened when I was exploring the area at night. I do like how the hotel is “interior” with secure access at night which definitely sets it apart from your standard motel The staff was definitely the standout for me. My experience with every member of the staff was positive from the front desk to the breakfast attendant to the housekeeper. The rooms were small and basic, but adequate. Didn’t care for the high beds because I have 2 young kids. I did appreciate the coffee maker, mini-fridge, and microwave though. The breakfast was good with both hot and cold items: sausage, eggs, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, cereal, pastries, coffee, and juice. It was perfect for a quick bite before hitting the road. I was let down that the WiFi happened to be down when I stayed. Couldn’t be helped, but I actually really needed it that night. I was able to get by with my iPhone hotspot, but that truly set me back.…
On check in the front desk member of staff was friendly and welcoming. On-site parking. Large room with good a/c. Although it's an older hotel it appears well maintained with an outdoor pool, jacuzzi and a small gym. Near restaurants, gas station w/convenience store. Wifi included, iron and board in room. Clean bathroom with good water pressure for shower. Overall a good stay. Only negative was the "hot" breakfast which was not the best quality, needs to be revisited, but the juice and coffee were good, with yoghurts and muffins. We would definitely stay again. The only reason I am not giving a five is the poor quality of the "hot" breakfast.
The front desk staff are very warm and friendly. We had to move from our previous hotel and they let us check in at 11:30 AM. The breakfast was warm (premade cheese omelets, potatoes and sausage) and adequate. Great orange juice! The rooms all have laminate flooring; actually better for cleanliness. The bath towels are unusually small and a bit thin. The rooms are a bit dark with minimal lighting options. It did have black-out shades, a great microwave, freezer and fridge.
We were just passing through on our way to Arizona when we stopped at this hotel. It’s an older hotel, but we’ll maintained, and here and there are hints of modernity — a waterfall sink, a nice selection of toiletries. Staff is friendly. An odd thing I noticed when I checked in: Even though I always prepay my hotel stays, this was the first not to ask for my credit card. Staff were friendly — both front desk and cleaning staff. We were advised the pool temperature was probably too cold for swimming; not a problem for us. I’d stay here again. One suggestion for management: Please put anti-slip strips in the bathtub. I nearly fell when I stepped in to take a shower.
The only reason I didn’t give a 5 is bc my ac was not cold enough for my sleep, but that is personal. The room was newly remodeled & had coffee maker, micro, frig with freezer, bathroom was new & renov with good PURE products:body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, etc.the closet had iron, board, hangers, safe & lug rack. There is self serve laundry: 2 washing machines $2(quarters)& 2 dryers($1.50). The outdoor pool IS open(8/26/20)!👏in a decent safe area with food options. Liked the way the entire property was secure. All indoor/outdoor areas have doors or gates that need key access. Breakfast was 6-10am in lobby with coffee station & sac BF with an apple, NV granola bar, bag of muffin bites & water(covid). Headed from Sacramento to Reno, this was only a few min off the Route. Recommend!…
Motel was clean, very nice clean and large room, good parking, staff was very helpful and attentive in a Vera rough time, good access to restaurants and surrounding stores, definitely would stay here again
Stayed 2 nights. Ok hotel. Beds were very high. I’m 5.2 and I had a lot of trouble getting into bed. We could hear the people next door. No seat on the toilet. That made it very difficult to get dressed or even put your clothes there when taking a shower. (No hook on the door either.) I was nervous about something falling into the toilet bowl. The towels were very thin and old. The heater made so much noise the first night. Woke me up every time it came on. We turned it off the second night and froze. This hotel does have free WiFi and a very nice free breakfast. Overall it’s an ok place for one night. I won’t be returning.
