This facility is fine. The only issue is that they have NO housekeeping unless you are staying more than 3 nights. If you want restocking, you have to go to the front desk and ask for each item. The excuse is COVID and worker safety. Somehow, the other hotels don’t agree and I’m sure that their laid-off housekeepers would not agree either.
Pleasant front desk staff. Room is large and fairly quiet. Room challenges: bathroom missing hand towels, wash cloths, tissues, trashcan; toilet running (not fixed during my stay) and both bathroom and kitchen sink faucets leaking. Bathroom shelf nearly detached from wall; dishwasher not attached to counter frame; TV not working. Room not very clean--dead moth and flies around perimeter, and no housekeeping during stay. Cigarette butts by the hundreds on walkways. Easily the worst Marriott-branded property I've ever stayed in.
We were evacuated from the czu fire while I was also scheduled to take my CA real estate exam. Needless to say, this was a very stressful time! I was calling around to find a place to stay when Myeisha answered the phone. She was professional, warm, engaging and the ray of sunshine I needed to hear on the other end of the phone! I ended up having to call a few times because I kept forgetting to ask questions, and it felt like I was calling someone who genuinely wanted to help(which she did!) I just wanted the Coutyard Marriott to know what an amazing asset they have with Myeisha, and I hope that they value her and take care of her as the exceptional employee that she is!!
I called because the website says to specifically call as a healthcare worker. The representative said that it has to go through sales department and had no knowledge of price difference, what qualifies, etc. that office is only available Mon-Fri. I would like to know if it is better to use my points instead which needs to book with some notice. Front desk should be made more aware of the hotel’s individual policies, especially if that’s where the website redirects you to.
I was unimpressed from start to finish with this property. The bed was comfortable; that’s about it. This hotel is profiled as the “partner” with special benefits for patrons of the Capital Sports Center on the CSC website. I called the specific hotel reservations person indicated (twice) for this deal - no answer and no call back. I called the front desk a third time and was told they knew nothing about the deal, did not know exactly where CSC even was and that it was too late for any such arrangement anyway as all such bookings must be made 21 days in advance. I mentioned that i had left messages twice with no reply and she didn’t care. I showed up to check in around 7pm and nobody was at the check in desk. After approximately 5 full minutes (a long time when you are wanting to check in after a 2 hour drive) someone finally emerged from behind a closed door. No apology or explanation for her absence was given. I’m a Marriott bonvoy gold member and credit card holder, and I was questioned at the desk as to why my (married) last name on my license did not match my (maiden) last name on my credit card. Then I was told that I must show my AAA card (requiring a trip back out to the car to retrieve it) even though I had already entered the complete number when making my online reservation. So perhaps these are “standard procedure” issues, but I have never been hassled at other properties. The lobby “cafe” was a bit underwhelming for a Saturday night dinner experience so I asked for advice/directions to any “nice” restaurants in the area.... this was pretty much met with a disinterested shrug of the shoulders and the comment that there were “some chain restaurants” down the street. Gee, thanks - I pulled out my phone and found ‘’Seasons 52” nearby on my own - it was quite good. There is nothing however in walking distance or the immediate vicinity of this hotel - you’re in an uninspiring, isolated and industrial type area. At approximately 4am a series of loud trains with blaring horns started cruising by - which apparently would explain the ear plugs and noise reduction machine placed on the bedside table. It was so loud that it was impossible to get back to sleep.…
