Located next to the new Golden 1 Center and nested among a variety of shops and restaurants, The Kimpton Sawyer Hotel brings an entirely new level of sophistication and exclusivity to Downtown Sacramento. With a 3rd floor pool deck overlooking the Golden One Center, the lounge Revival at the Sawyer is a hangout for concerts, sporting events and merely a place to socialize and have crafted cocktails. The guestrooms were designed with the wood work of California oak and comforting shades of gray and Nevada brown, each with expansive views of the busy downtown Sacramento.

We stayed in the balcony king room, above the DOCO plaza. We appreciate the Japanese style rock garden outside our balcony which blocks some of the loud music from the plaza. We used self parking at DOCO to save $7 compared to valet’s $35 daily rate. But self-parking doesn’t give us in-and-out privilege as valet parking does, which we later learned from the hotel. We enjoyed the welcoming aroma in the lobby, minimalistic interior decor, thoughtful and useful design (USB and charging outlets on both night stands), location and the food in Echo & Rig restaurant. We also liked that the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were not single use to eliminate waste. The hotel is also within a short walk of Old Sacramento.

My family and I once again had an enjoyable stay at the Kimpton Sawyer over the long weekend. Although we sorely missed room service, we appreciated that they've done the utmost given these challenging times. The front desk staff was welcoming at arrival and warm at departure (Amari at checkout, and others at check-in), Gillian who somehow had cloned herself and was ever-present throughout the property, Lindsay at Revival was gracious every single time we came up to the bar for our free coffee or tea or to order a signature cocktail, and May in housekeeping was helpful in discreetly delivering fresh towels and removing trash, for an experience that helped each of us unwind a few of our nerves this week. The pool was the right temperature for a warm early October, and fellow guests were respectful of space and staying in small groups.

We had a great stay - the pool is lovely and the location can’t be beat. We have stayed a few times over the past year and it is always a great hotel. Special shoutout to Gillian (spelling?) at the front desk who went above and beyond to make our stay so memorable!!! It is because of people like that that Kimpton is always our first choice when we travel.

This hotel was sold a 2 years ago and it was also closed for 3-4 months due to covid....our stay was 2 weeks ago and the first room we were assigned had a moldy musty smell upon entry....we asked for another room and the second room had a mild moldy musty smell and the carpet was filthy.....there was no plastic cover on the remote and no notices in the room about covid cleaning which most hotels have....we paid almost 175. for this motel 6 type room.......if you are going to close a hotel for a few months you need to clean it and air it out upon opening again...we stayed here before it was sold and it was clean, nice our stay was fantastic....due to the moldy smell and dirty carpet our stay this time was horrible and we will not stay here again.....

Good Morning, Thank you for taking time to share your feedback with us. I am very disappointed to read you did not have a 5 star experience with us during your recent stay. Cleanliness has always been of the up most importance to us, and with the new world we are living in we take these matters even more seriously. We have very strict cleaning guidelines that are outlined on our website and have been created by Kimpton and IHG. The property has been operating as a Kimpton hotel since opening three years again, and we look forward to continuing to bring a luxury experience to Downtown Sacramento. We do hope you will give us another opportunity to 'WOW' you in the future. If you do decide to book again please contact me directly at nikki.carlson@sawyerhotel.com. Warm Regards, Nikki Carlson General Manager

Due to Covid-19 our family cancelled all our domestic and international trips for 2020. We decided for a local staycation from SF at the kimpton sawyer after seeing it had a pool and was pet friendly. Check in was easy and valet was a breeze. While they had early check in for us, even though I called to tell them it was our anniversary and that we were hoping to get a king sized bed they weren’t able to provide an accommodation for the special occasion. We also told them in advance we had a pooch and there was nothing on that front either. COVID-19 precautions- I did see cleaning staff and elevators only allow max of 3 people. Hotel felt clean and everyone was wearing a mask in all common areas except by the pool. Pool: very nice lounge/party feel with music and cabanas. All the loungers were taken when we got there so we just put our stuff by one of the palm trees. My 2 year old enjoyed wading in the pool. People wore masks to enter the pool area but no one was wearing them once they were there. Regardless I did feel people were respectful in keeping their distance. Rooms: very spacious. Beds were comfy, loved all the outlets. Shower had good pressure and nice and hot although the open glass door caused the floors to get pretty wet. Coffee is available in the morning by the pool restaurant. The DOCO area was lively. We are dinner at echo and rig. Lunch at poblano and breakfast at Estella’s all without leaving the hotel area. Nice stay and would recommend!

Hey Betty, Thank you for the review! It's great to read that overall you had a wonderful experience at the Hotel. Safety, cleanliness and security are of the upmost importance to us and it's great to read that those elements were present during your stay with us. I am disappointed we were not able to accommodate your room request, unfortunately we can't always honor requests due to the actually bookings made by others, we always do our best! Lastly, I am sorry we missed your 4 legged travel buddy, we always want our furry friends to feel at home! We do hope you will come back and see us again in the future.
