Charming, older hotel that is well-kept and clean. If you enjoy something other than boring, corporate hotels, you will probably love this one. Political humor sprinkled without (perfect for the Capitol city), and decorated in a lovely gentleman-like style. The room was small, but I didn't mind (that's what comes with older hotels, sometimes). It was perfect for a short... More

The Citizen Hotel is staffed with professional, friendly, and knowledgeable individuals. There was a kind smile on everyones face - a gesture not seen often enough! The Grange restaurant was fabulous - execellent service and an amazing menu!

The hotel room's design is impeccable and quite European. Beware the basic room types are VERY small, we had to change rooms twice so it wouldn't feel too claustrophobic. Now service is not terrible but just too average/approximate for a hotel charging this type of rate. It takes 20mn to get a menu from room service, valet parking is an... More

What makes a hotel a 5-start hotel? Great everything. Wayne and company, you're doing everything right. From the welcoming at the valet, to the greetings at the front desk, and all they way through room service, a room upgrade, and checking out, everything was great. Service is why the Citizen is a great hotel. Mediocre luxury boutique hotels usually rely... More

Made a reservation here at the last minute after car problems left us stranded in Sacramento. The hotel is an older building but is well maintained and has a classic style. Our room was well maintained, very quiet and spacious. The Grange restaurant was also a nice find for dinner and breakfast. While I don't know if I'll have reason... More

Nested in an old and beautiful building, this charming hotel offer cozy and well appointed rooms combined with personable and attentive service and staff. The weak points: outdated and soft mattress and feel like "sandpaper" towels, could not really put on my face. If they take care of these tow items, this could be the perfect spot in downtown Sacramento

I love staying at the Citizen. It's got a great vibe and a very friendly staff to help with whatever you need during your stay. I've stayed there 3 times on business so far, and hope to be able to stay there again. Little things, like being able to drop by the Grange for dinner without a reservation (or ordering... More

I love the Citizen Hotel and their friendly staff. The rooms are excellent and the atmosphere is amazing. Plus, the quotes in the elevators are an added bonus. I highly recommend The Citizen Hotel as the only place to stay in Sacramento.

I've stayed here almost a dozen times now and it's always been a very good experience. The rooms are spotless, the beds and showers are excellent, there are decent sound-proof windows to combat the on-site weddings and events in neighboring Cesar Chavez park, and the service has always been great. My only complaint is that they only have a few... More

Great location and fun restaurant. Rooms are nicely appointed and some have great views. Helpful staff. Check out bar on second floor. Enjoyed every part of the trip. Bathroom had a view of the Capitol and lobby was really unique. Best hotel in downtown sacramento. Small enough to have character and large enough to allow multiple rooms for visitors. Would...
