We knew before arriving that The Mission Inn was a highly rated historic property. We were not prepared for the beauty and detail of this property. We stayed in room 421 above the chapel... it was stunning. Walking around the property in breathtaking! The staff and service lived up to the property, professional and friendly. We can’t say enough about our stay here. We’ll be back for sure!!!!

Had a nice stay in our hotel room in spite of our unexpected guest. Beautiful hotel with lots of festive decorations. Be certain to walk around the historic mission. Loved having a window that actually opened!

I took a friend of mine to lunch last Monday at The Mission Inn Restaurant. I was happy to see guidelines for Covid, including hostess and servers wearing face masks and shields. When we were led to our table, I noticed that the bill from the precious customer was on the table. I wouldn’t have minded if the top of the table was tile or hard surface. I would have presumed the table was sanitized between customers. Instead, it was a tablecloth - which means the restaurant is not changing it between customers. Sneezing, coughing, touching - these are dirty tablecloths. Bad enough during normal times but we are in the midst of a pandemic! Very irresponsible.

We stopped over for a night at this beautiful historic hotel. The architecture and pieces of artwork were amazing. The pool was unfortunately closed due to Covid but the Spa was open. We ate at their outdoor enclosed patio restaurant which felt like a European villa. The room was small but cozy and clean. We shopped at a four story antique store across the street that was fun. The neighborhood around the hotel is a little run down so we stayed close to the hotel after dark. Didn’t like that they charged for WiFi. Overall great experience and hope to return post-Covid.

This is a 5-star hotel no question about it! Quick and delicious room service – classy all way round. Here’s one thing I would note. If you believe the California Missions as a sign Christianity and the ”Western Progress..as a good thing; you’ll be impressed with the décor of Father Serra motif and the portraits of past Presidents. On the other hand, if you see the building of Missions and forced religious conversion of native Americans by the Church as a bad thing…then enjoy the hotel, its amenities, and its friendly staff and skip looking around as the “historical” portion of the hotel
