I was looking for simple weekend getaway during the off-season. I was not looking for a anything with a spa or fancy amenities. This lodge seemed to fit the bill, with pictures of a quaint older lodge. The room description when I booked was for a king size bed with kitchenette. The bed was comfortable and the room clean, but the bathroom was very small and the kitchenette consisted of a small microwave, mini fridge and tiny bar sink. The site describes the lodge as a bed and breakfast, but only a modest continental breakfast is provided. They mention that their neighbor, Rio Nido Roadhouse has live music on the weekends, but we did not expect to have to list to the loud unpleasant music in our room, until 10 pm. I had missed the part about only providing limited housekeeping, which I found out means they don’t clean rooms unless you stay more than 3 days.

I stayed here recently while visiting friends that had moved to this area. First, the bed was Old mattress - bed sinks. They have no A/C just a small fan. They also have no maid service so your room doesn't get freshened up or cleaned. If you need ice or a towel, you have to ask the coffee shop. They close at 8 p.m. and if something happens after that time, you have to call and have someone try to help you. For breakfast they offer 3 day old pastries and frozen bagels. Let's just say this was not a friendly experience. There's one lady with long hair who is rude and short. I think she's the assistant to the lady who checked me in. I won't stay here again.

After checked out of hotel received call from manager saying they never got my room key back. Insinuated I would be charged to have the lock re-keyed, which they added is very expensive. I told her , I left the key on the table in room as the handout they gave me instructed. She said but our staff is very good about bring the keys back to the office. They called me back a day later saying staff brought key back to office but “ it fell behind something”. She never apologized for the false accusation and veiled threat of re-keying charged. Horrible customer service! Will not stay again or recommend to anyone!

Quaint, seclude and quiet location. Our room was clean. Issues getting the flat screen tv to work: getting the tv screen on, adjusting the volume, changing channels... But it's a nice chill spot were a solo traveler would feel comfortably relaxed and read a good book... The "free breakfast" they include is nothing more than coffee, hardboiled eggs, a few danishes and pastries. The restaurant area looks functional, but it's not open for service???? I actually would stay here again for a lil R & R, but now I know, not to expect much.

I stayed here with a friend in early December doing some out of season wine tasting. We stayed in what was called the cabin, a semi detached large studio with a kitchen. The beds were fine and so was everything else about the room except the only heat was 2 space heaters. The first night they turned them on before we arrived. The second night we were out and by the time we got there the room was freezing and took forever to warm up. Also the continental breakfast was very limited and of mediocre quality. I enjoyed the setting among the redwoods. The staff were not especially friendly.
