We recently held a unique special reunion of co-workers spanning 32 years at The Grand Bay in Redwood City and was immensely impressed with EVERYONE at the hotel. Laura Urbina, Director of Sales & Marketing is amazing!!! She was very responsive, flexible and worked with us on every detail (even added her own unique surprise to ensure the evening be more special)! We utilized The Scroll Bar for the 120+person event and was perfect in every way. The food was delicious, well presented and thoroughly enjoyed by all as we had options covering all dietary requirements 😀. The bartenders never missed a beat and handled our group and even hotel patrons during the evening with impressive service and attention. Creative speciality cocktails created by Micheal (head bartender), was a huge hit! If looking for the perfect location with a a perfect group of individuals to handle your perfect event, The Grand Bay in Redwood City IS THE best choice. Many stayed at the hotel and all were greeted warmly upon check in and thoroughly enjoyed their stay. As a professional event planner with over 27 years experience handling some very high profile events, I wish there was ability to give The Grand Bay 10+ stars! This hotel is so much better than any in San Francisco or Bay Area, this is the new "go to" hotel! Will definitely look forward to doing other events there at any opportunity as well as our next reunion! I live locally, and plan to make The Scroll Bar/Restaurant my new favorite. Food and service great!! Sit out on patio at fire pit and enough the water views...love The Grand Bay!…
My company booked 30 of us at the Grand Bay hotel for a team offsite. And it looks like they have some growing pains. After a flight that was delayed by 3 hours and finally unpacking, I discovered my shower didn't work. Ok, no problem. Informed the front desk and they moved me to another room. That shower worked. Problem is, it turned on like a tsunami. Like 20 gallons of water a minute. I felt like I was draining the entire bay area. Before heading to the offsite in the morning, I let the front desk know about the wild shower experiences. Apparently many on my team encountered the same behavior with their showers too. We joked that our showers were going to drown us. Here's where things turn around. Later in the afternoon, I get an email from Justin Burbick, the front office manager, apologizing for all of the issues. He offered to meet with me and find any way to make it right--whether it was an upgrade to a junior suite, free drink at the bar, dessert on the house, etc. So I took him up on it. After returning at around 9pm, the receptionist upgraded me to one of their junior suites. This room was the real deal. Living room and bedroom separated by a half wall, view of the bay, properly working shower. I couldn't be happier with the resolution. Thanks Justin for proactively reaching out. Overall, the property has some growing pains, and many from my team feel the same. But service is where they excel. I hope we'll have the chance to stay here again.…
Justin has made our numerous stays so welcoming. Always greeted us and was always so accommodating. It was like visiting an old friend whenever we've stayed over the years. Benny and JC made our dining experiences throughout the stay so pleasant. No matter how busy it got, they always provided smiles and great service. Even though, the hotel has changed ownership the staff was retained and made the stay as nice as it always has been in the past.
I was charged 150.00 for a deposit when I checked out. I tried calling the hotel 5 times and either no one would answer or when they transferred me they disconnected. I finally reached someone and explained I was over charged they said they couldn’t help me so I drove 45 min back to the hotel to speak to them in person they said I would have to wait until next week to get my money back. I asked for a manager and they said there was no manager on staff. I will niw how to fill out paperwork to escalate this
The hotel bed is using old spring mattress with a thin cover. You feel the springs in your back and the entire mattress bows in the middle. I stayed on the 9th floor for an entire week, after the first night of no sleep, I asked for a different room and it was exactly the same thing, the beds are just bad. I paid $400 CAD per night and have had better sleeps at budget hotels, therefore this is not good value.
We loved Scroll Bar before COVID, so when it reopened we were excited to start eating there again. But today is the third time we have arrived based on the listed Google Maps hours and found that they are closed. Because we knew this was a possibility we tried calling, but after four calls and no answer (hold eventually hung up on us each time) - we decided to risk it. Won’t be doing that again. Luckily on this visit some very nice staff Alicia and JC helped us out and they served us lunch which was great. But we won’t be coming back if we can’t trust the times and can’t reach anyone to confirm if they are open.
I visited the Grand Bay, Redwood City, during a business trip. I found the hotel to be generally clean, well equipped and well run. What made this trip exceptional were the hotel employees. Firstly, on the front desk, was Linda. A wonderfully welcoming and polite lady, who was most helpful and supportive during my stay at the hotel. I had arrived without my luggage (which had remained in London) and she gave me constant assistance during this challenging time in such a warm and friendly manner. Thank you Linda, you are a star! Next, thank you to a multitude of other staff at the hotel. The barman had us in stitches, restaurant guy (lovely, helpful manner) and the other front desk ladies who were always helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting in this area…
Excellent service from Michael and Edwin at the Scroll Bar. Friendly & knowledgeable; everything you could ask for when grabbing a bite and a pour. Tom Cruise Cocktail impression was on point and you're well taken care of no matter how crowded it gets.
Grand Bay is a nice hotel with a quiet location along the lagoon area of Redwood Shores. It's pet friendly and has nice walking paths for your dog right outside the hotel doors. My only complaint would be the expensive $30 day parking fee for outside garage parking, seems a little pricey. Also, seems like the rooms could use an upgrade especially the restrooms.
While here on a business trip, I arrived early at hotel and needed somewhere to get some work done and to grab some breakfast. Alicia in the Scroll bar set me up nicely with a table that had charger inputs and as well took my order. She went above and beyond in making me feel comfortable in the restaurant and recommending foods so that I can get a good meal and get my work done while waiting for a meeting later in the day. I highly recommend the restaurant and even more for Alicia to be your server!
