This hotel was one of the worst experiences ever while vacationing. Their manager was not made available to make decisions on our rooms promotion that was booked months ahead of time and conveniently not made available to us. We called her as directed by her staff and she did not return our call. Extremely unprofessional not to return our call within three days before our scheduled checkout time. We were forced to pay full price regardless of how the rooms were booked. Our door to one room did not open or close! The other room had no working shower for the entire first day. We do not recommend this hotel. The staff was polite but unhelpful when it came to making decisions without their lost manager. Don’t think you’re getting any deals there. Obviously it’s not important to them to honor it. The only bright spot of the whole experience was the restaurant connected with the hotel was awesome and we do recommend them. The food and service was top notch. The management to the restaurant must not be affiliated with the hotel

Only a five star hotel should be charging the prices they charge here. The hotel is at best, three stars. The furnitures inside the rooms are tacky. Food tasted like microwaved. A great bunch of staffs work here.

Average. We spent $400 for one night in the room. We were on the first floor with no privacy, which is what it is but for the same room on the 3rd they were charging $75 more. I was then charged $75 for an “amenity fee” and parking. I understand the $30 parking but an “amenity fee” just to be at the hotel I already paid for and amenities I didn’t even use? That’s crazy. I also requested 30 minutes late check out the following day, as we were running slightly behind, and they said it would be $50 an hour. Again, I understand some of this, but to already be charging so much for a room and then add on more fees every step of the way? I would have rather stayed anywhere else. I will not be returning

The hotel was pretty empty upon my arrival. They stuck me in the back room with a view of the parking lot, which didn’t really bother me because I was there for business. But you would think that the few customers they did have, they would make them feel special. The bathroom was like a gym shower. It was gross. There was no hairdryer in the room; the water pressure in the shower was a drip; housekeeping didn’t come; and overall for the price, it is not worth it to stay there again. When I got back to my room after my business meetings, and I realized housekeeping never came during the eight hours I was gone. I called to the front desk using my cell phone because the in room phone didn’t work. The front desk did not really seem concerned or really that apologetic for the situation. Again, it was totally unacceptable considering it was a fairly empty hotel. And yes, a mechanic came to my room to try to fix my phone and he couldn’t. So he gave me a new one. You’d think the room would be functioning upon my arrival.

Dog and child friendly patio. Patio has fire pits which fascinated our grandson. They had special treats for our dog. The service was friendly and quick. The food was excellent. Went there twice while in town because everything was so good.

Great room and location. You can walk about a mile to main Hermosa area. But front desk service needs to be more cheerful and accommodating. The other people who work there are great. Also “ocean view” may include a view of the parking lot more than the ocean. They should call it “partial ocean” view

GOOD Restaurant staff was so friendly, kind, helpful. Cleaning staff are lovely. Super clean. Brilliant pool for under 4 yr kids. I would definitely stay there again. Delicious food and drinks at the restaurant next door, surprised in good way. Awesome fire tables outside and live music with great vibe. 15 minute walk to city along beach. * What made SHADE impressive was the ownership staff took to "get the customer what they want." By accident I asked a man repairing kitchen equipment for cream cheese and he actually delivered the message to get it done. I tried to call reception on the pool phone to say there were no more towels, it accidentally forwarded to the restaurant - and the restaurant dude BROUGHT TOWELS. They seem to operate as a real team being helpful to each other, shared accountability. BAD - Ridiculous parking fees everyone avoids. - You cannot use hotel bikes at night. - Reception friendliness was very hit or miss. - Asked to pay a "holding deposit" up front of 250 USD (i think?) for extra costs. TIPS - Booking.com bookings auto say 4 people per room - you MUST UPDATE THIS to ensure accurate fees. We told them at the start of our stay, but they still had it on the booking at the end of our stay - watch out! - Check your bill at checkout and proactively ask for a printed copy (this was not provided, we had to ask) - after review we saved almost 200 USD. They have a charge for taking something from the mini bar. lol. not the mini bar item - a charge for restocking the minibar afterwards - shameless! - Be sure to understand the bikes, the towels, the pool, gym, etc. Reception did a terrible job explaining amenities to us as the start of our stay.

Sea Level food and service was exceptional. Front desk staff was rude and not very welcoming. Can recommend the restaurant but not the hotel regarding customer service. Room was clean and view was very nice.

A big thank you to Nicole for helping to make it an absolutely wonderful stay. We were treated to bubbles (sparkling wine) on check-in, and we then brought some more onto the roof top patio (with jacuzzi pool) and sat on the lounge chairs and relaxed. There is a beautiful bistro that also served us continental breakfast. It is very close to the Redondo Beach Pier and an easy walk. It would appear that each room has a giant bathtub right on the balcony. Perfect place to soak and relax and read a book, and enjoy the view of the marina and the Pacific Ocean beyond. As an added a bonus ... My wife loves The Cheesecake Factory, and there is one right next door!!
