Nicely renewed space, with laminate flooring, good lighting, large refrigerator, microwave and hair dryer. Staff was helpful and friendly. The ac was effective and easily adjusted with the provided remote. Having a swimming pool was a definite plus. Enjoyed the continental breakfast with hard boiled eggs, toast, fruit and yogurt.

On our way back from the forest, we wanted to stay in a mid-century motel, so we selected Thunderbird. The individuals who checked us in were friendly and accommodating.

Our room was clean and well kept. The shower had excellent water pressure and the rooms were stocked with four towels, which is great as many hotels only provide two or three in this class.

The bed was okay. Not my style mattress, but that is relative to each individual. There was very little parking the night we stayed. I suspect the hotel was sold out so every spot was accounted for.

The hotel has very limited outdoor seating. On a nice evening, it would have been nice to have a few seats around the property, though it seems very hard to do for the limited space. The hotel is located next to some good restaurants.

I would probably stay at this property again and we enjoyed our stay.

It’s nice and sanitary minus the thin walls and ceiling that makes it noisy and hard to feel rested at night.

During the covid-19 pandemic, everything about the room felt clean, odor and stain free. Also, check in and check out was a quick and simple.

Had only a night in Redding on our way from the Bay Area to Oregon. Thunderbird is in a great location, walking distance to the Sundial bridge and near cafes and restaurants. They also have a pool! Too bad we didn't have time to enjoy it. The room was clean and adequate. The complementary breakfast had its limitations, but we can blame COVID for the scaled down choices. Nothing fancy here, but a totally great value. Would definitely stay again!

When I was browsing for rooms it was August 7th just before midnight, but when I actually booked my room it was technically August 8th because it was past midnight so my reservation was August 8-9th but in reality it was 7-9th. On the morning of the 8th I was checked out of my room without knowing and when I tried to use my key card to my room it wouldn’t work so I went to the front desk and let the woman working know and she failed to check for the reservation info she just simply renewed my keycard. Later on that evening I hear someone else using a keycard trying to get into our room and it turns out that the hotel had checked me out and sold my room to a different family when I wasn’t checking out till the 9th. Both the woman and the manager stated that I had booked an extended stay and that’s why I was checked out the first time but that doesn’t make sense because I only made 1 reservation in total. I never extended my stay or made another reservation from the 8-9th and the manager tried to put it on me saying that I should have double checked with them my reservation and made sure I still had my room to avoid a situation like this but I don’t see why that is necessary if I did the proper booking on THEIR website. The woman was also at fault because she failed to check my reservation when I first approached her about my keycard not working.

Unfortunately, there appeared to be zero clearing protocols. Person at the front desk was not wearing a mask, watched the cleaning person come out of a room with no mask on. Photos don’t match the rooms. Very thin walls and could hear neighbors all night.

Normally I’m a no frills, just give me a bed with clean sheets kinda guy that stays at Motel 6, because generally you get sheets and towels that smell like bleach, which means clean. After reading the reviews for the 3 locations in Redding, it was clear Motel 6 has an issue with cleanliness. After searching the reviews we settled on the Thunderbird and would pay extra to stay here in a heartbeat! It was clean, comfortable, within walking distance of a ton of places to eat, and they provided a large size mini fridge and microwave. If I’m ever traveling through Redding again, I’ll be reserving a room here!

Check in was prompt and friendly and the room on upper floor was serviceable, though the whole mid-century vibe is over-sold - this is a motel with a cool sign. Bed and pillows not great, but things appeared clean. Shower pressure was so poor it just dribbled with no spray despite adjustment. Parking was ok for me but thoe arriving later had trouble.
The worst aspect though, as a few other reviews have mentioned, is the location, downtown between two main streets. Locals like to race loud cars and motorcycles up and down these streets late at night. Police/fire station must be nearby because there were multiple sirens throughout the night. Trains come through nearby as well and make ample use of their horns. If you want to have a solid night of sleep, this absolutely ain't the place.

I drove up to Redding on a Friday night with a couple friends for a road race the following morning. We stayed at the Thunderbird Lodge. The lodging experience was straight-forward and nice. Parking was easy, check-in was easy, the room was clean, and everything felt recent. The property was in great shape. There was an adequate continental breakfast that we appreciated for its convenience. The location was ideal for us: within short jogging distance of the road race and short walking distance to multiple restaurants. Overall, we were looking for a pleasant no-frills experience for a good value and that's what we got. I would stay here again.
