Firstly, this is not a hotel in the sense that there is no high rise building with "rooms" on each floor. It is a sprawling estate with architectural gems of casitas and villas made of stucco and Spanish tiles. Absolutely Beautiful! The grounds are landscaped and so lush and mature. Soft lighting, plenty of parking, plenty of privacy. OMG the best resort we've ever stayed in in all of the USA. In room breakfast was gourmet and beautifully presented. Great dinner menu. Loved the olive trees and lemon trees. Would 110% recommend without hesitation!!! We stayed in a Palm Suite and it was like our own private home for the week. Honestly, we could live in one permenantly! So roomy and comfortable. Everything is top notch.

booked an Agave suite. the rooms are the cutest bungalows. the best part is the bathroom! huge closet (not sure when someone would use it), huge shower and tub. Sunken living room goes out to a patio. we ate one of our meals on the patio and it was serene! highlights: - sipping lemonade by the pool! they require reservations but there was only one other group there while we were so we felt pretty safe! - same was true for pickle ball - we were the only ones there! tons of tennis courts and cold bottled water everywhere! - pony camp - out door restaurant felt like i was in a little village and the portion sizes are not only delicious but huge!!! we were too full for dessert every time. if j had to do again i would probably share entree or no appetizers - orange juice in the AM delivered to a little table outside your door (they come around 5am - figured this out when the dog was going crazy) - dog friendly, loved the big bed, and the dog menu at the restaurant! everyone was super friendly felt like a personalized stay. they put together my itinerary before i arrived. it was more of a 4.5 star stay - only because there’s not really too much to do in the resort. we already live near san diego so we aren’t really going around anyway. would have been a little helpful to have a map at the start - they have them at the concierge. we didn’t realize there was a separate spa pool. the main pool had some bugs and leaves floating in the water. there are fitness classes etc but not really our vibe. would be nice to have a little guided hike. also found a wine cork from a previous guest under the table.

The last year has been chaotic and tumultuous for most of us. Since everything was locked down last year for my significant milestone, I decided on a “redo” it this year. The last amazing spa day I had was at Rancho Valencia, so of course I came back to celebrate, not knowing what the experience would be like in the Covid era. They offered a contactless check-in which was actually seamless, and followed up with a confirmation phone call. I arrived about an hour before my massage with Steven, and Merissa informed me of the new procedures and assisted me in getting to the pool to start my spa day. , Amanda was very helpful and set me up so I could relax in the sun at the pool with a really good margarita. It was still early in the afternoon, so the pool was empty, which suited me just fine. (I’ve been completely vaccinated but still avoid crowds and still follow social distancing guidelines.) The property is undergoing some renovations, including the spa, and I was informed that if I wished, a golf cart would be sent over at 1:58 to take me to my massage appointment at 2pm in the spa casitas, where the spa treatments are being performed. I was greeted by Steven outside the casita, and he explained the treatment and the procedures. I’d never had a treatment from Steven before, but he was experienced, skilled, professional, and very attentive to my needs and my comfort. It was much needed and the casita was spacious and comfortable. I returned to the spa pool and Sabrina and Mia took very good care of me. I ordered another margarita and the fish tacos, which were excellent. They even surprised me with a tasty birthday amenity, which was unexpected. In summary, it was a much more enjoyable birthday than last year. I can always count on Rancho Valencia to go above and beyond to make me feel welcome, relaxed, and appreciated. If you haven’t visited this gem, you’re missing out. I can’t wait until all the renovations are complete, which should be sometime in the next few weeks. When they are at their best, nothing compares.

Gorgeous grounds, beautiful luxury accommodations make this a special place to be pampered. Service is excellent. Beautiful tennis courts , golf , spa, and a beautiful pool. Things were just opening back up due to Covid when we were there, but they were making the best of it. Can’t wait to go back !

Just returned from our second week long stay at Rancho Valencia Resort and Spa and had a wonderful time! We are very cautious with our exposure during these pandemic times and RV is the perfect location always but especially during this time. With the resort layout it is very easy to be only outdoors starting with contactless check in as an option and the rooms are all villas spread out with no shared AC/HVAC. We stay in their one bedroom valencia suite which is the top category apart from the 3 bedroom Hacienda Villa. Our villa has a large patio with spa pool that is heated and I am able to tan or lounge under the umbrella or enjoy the outdoor fire place. So easy to be content just in our villa, perfection! It rained one afternoon during our stay so we were able to really enjoy our indoor fire place as well. So romantic and dreamy! Our furry baby joins us and she loves being at the resort more than at home. Lots of room to roam and RV is very doggy friendly. The villas are spotless, housekeeping does a really good job. We didn’t make use of daily house keeping but we were able to get fresh towels or anything we needed left outside. The food at The Pony Room is phenomenal! Love the selection and quality of the food and presentation is never a let down. We dined at the Pony Room every morning and evening and Giulia & Felipe at breakfast are so lovely! Friendly and great service. We love sitting at the fire pits for cocktails before dinner and our servers are usually very nice but I must mention how Bobby really made us fee extra special and provided phenomenal service. Can’t wait to return next time.
