I am an excutive level owner of two vistana properties, the first of which I purchased over 25 years ago. I have happily and effectively made the most out of this ownership, learning the ropes of ownership, and traveling all over the world. Until this trip, I have never had a complaint or an issue with the places I've stayed, as every property has been well maintained, and the amenities lived up to the standards as advertised. Almost none of my past experience prepared me for the disappointment I faced at every turn during my stay at The Westin Mission Hills Resort Villas in Palm Springs, California. I have summarized the most concerning aspects of our trip below with the hope that something can be done for me to make up for the laundry list of mediocracies we faced during our one week stay onsite. Additionally, I felt this site should be brought to your attention, as it is severly lacking in terms of living up to Westin standards, and as such, you may want to take steps to either eliminate this site from your offerings, or bring it up to par. The shortcomings are listed below in no particular order. While some may seem more minor than others, the collective was unexceptable. I went to the front desk around 7:30 am and was told there would be no manager on duty until after 10 am. I was told she would call my cell phone. I went to the front desk around 3 pm, after not receiving a call, and she indicated she had tried the room, but not my cell. Upon arriving, there was no one out front to greet us or help with our luggage. It wasn't even clear where we needed to park or enter the premises to check in. We only had help with the baggage once we changed rooms. After checking in, we were told to pick up a discount card from the concierge. The concierge didn’t stand to greet us, or introduce himself, and seemed mostly concerned with trying to convince us to visit another property and sit through a presentation. Later, upon calling the concierge midweek for assistance in making a spa reservation, we were told they weren’t permitted to make reservations on our behalf, but instead, I needed to take care of that myself. I'm sorry, but isn't that exactly what a concierge's job is? This Westin property felt very much like a “do it yourself” hotel. Take care of it on your own. Our room was not cleaned well, during the one time cleaning: Dish towels were all taken, none were replaced Most surfaces, including both the indoor and outdoor table were not wiped down. When I wiped it down myself, I used several paper towels before having one not turn completely gray after wiping. The shower gel was not replaced No additional toilet paper was brought into the room In a complex that clearly wasn’t filled to capacity we were originally assigned to a handicap room with fixtures, with sinks and closets that were too low to reach or hang our clothes. (I am nearly 6 feet tall, and my boyfriend is 6'3) We were exhausted after a day of traveling so we went to bed early, and the visitors above us began showering. The noise level of the water running was ridiculous...far beyond what might be reasonalby expected in a resort. The rooms itself was in desperate need of updating. If asked to describe the room, the most obvious word that comes to mind is tired and worn out...in addition to things that were broken and damaged...for example, the counter top had a significant crack in it that was poorly patched and moved when leaned on. The entire counter top wiggled, and felt as if it would collapse if you were to leave heavy bags of groceries on it. I’d love to provide feedback on the pools, but there was simply nothing about them that made them particularly special or inviting… however, the local ducks seemed to enjoy them. Each morning we were greeted by the loud and lovely sound of leave blowers resounding right outside our balcony. Since there are no leaves to speak of in Palm Springs, I’m assuming they must have been blowing sand ...or garbage. We chose this property based on the website indicating three different options for food. Upon arriving, we learned that only one was actually onsite and a chain link fence between our resort and the Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort and Spa, blocking us from the coffee shop and the two restaurants that were advertised on the site… requiring us to drive if we wanted to eat anything more than food from Aloes pool bar, which closed at 7 pm. We did drive over to the Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort and Spa. This was the type of property and space that I have come to expect during my many years of traveling. The place were our rooms we located was a stark comparison to this property which included lovely pools, live music, several restaurants, and free happy hours. Shower Water temperature was either scalding or freezing with almost no in between…the shower heads on the rain shower were worn out and dripping, rather than creating an even stream. The shower temperature would change multiple times, mid shower from freezing to scalding and back again. Even the current signage indicates this is a joined Westin property with two different sections of guest room for guests to occupy.…
