We recently visited the area for a family wedding. The hotel we had originally booked was truly horrible and we were desperately seeking last minute accommodations. After a quick google search I found The Rest Hotel. Lisa was sympathetic to our situation and said come right over to choose your room. We were tired from a long day of travel and stressed about not having a place to stay. We arrived to a comforting smile, freshly baked cookies, wine and beautiful rooms to choose from. We selected Suite 102 and didn't want to leave. The abundance of windows that brought in beautiful natural light during the day and a cool breeze at night were wonderful. We were excited to discover the very large jetted tub that soothed our travel weary bodies. The bedroom was perfectly sized for two travelers and all of our things comfortably. We were traveling with our 6 month old English Bulldog and she loved the space to stretch her legs and the beautiful park across the street for morning walks and evening play time. The staff was so warm and friendly always going above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. My partner is in love with the little town and didn't want to leave. We also recommend the deli across the street. The food was so fresh and delicious for breakfast, lunch or a quick snack. We honestly can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was and we are looking forward to a more leisurely visit in the future!

We're usually pretty frugal when it comes to hotels, but this one was worth every penny. From the minute we walked in the door, we were greeted almost like we were coming into someone's home. Lisa was absolutely wonderful, letting us know about all of the amenities that we could take advantage of during our stay. We really enjoyed the nightly complimentary wine and appetizer hour with wonderful local wine and gourmet appetizers. The room was great as well, with attention to detail that other hotels could take a lesson from. I truly appreciated the dimmers on the lights - if you have sensitive eyes or just want to have a restful or romantic mood, this is a necessary feature. Also appreciated the easy to adjust mini split heating / cooling and individual WiFi PW for each guest. The bed was firm and comfy (could use a foam topper maybe, but not bad). Before our stay we also received some great advice for local wineries & transportation. (There's really no Uber or Lyft service here - be aware that you must pre-arrange transportation for wine tasting, and the hotel can can provide some great referrals.) Just absolutely awesome customer service! A microwave in the room would be a useful addition, but overall this hotel is really close to perfect.

Rest was one of the nicest boutique hotels I’ve been to. Every room and area is clean and well kept. Upon arriving, Lisa is a friendly face who introduces you to the hotel. She goes above and beyond to make the guests feel welcome and comfortable. The room was very large and the bed had one of the best mattress I’ve slept on. The bathroom has space on the counter, plenty of towels, and a nice shower.
But Rest goes even further than providing exceptional space and people. There are extras around every hour…from 5-6pm they offer wine and 2 appetizers that are made by the restaurant next door. And those appetizers change everyday and are unique and very delicious. Lisa asks if there are any food allergies or preferences upon check-in and goes out of her way to accommodate those. Sitting comfortably in big chairs with the fire place offering a fine ambiance, you can chat with other guests or you can sit out on the patio. Then they offer each room 2 homemade cookies for later. And in the room, besides coffee and tea, there’s a basket with bags of snacks and 2 water bottles replaced each day, on the house. You can find more snack bags in the communal area as well. They offer a very nice breakfast with wonderful baked eggs, pastries, oatmeal, granola, fresh fruit, and yogurt. One really feels cared for and comfortable at Rest! Will return.

We were part of a group of ten visiting Amador Wine Country and so fortunate to have found this perfect haven in Plymouth, CA. Every person connected with this hotel were warm, friendly, eager to make our stay the highlight of our travels to California. The hotel is immaculate! Our room was a suite which included a jetted tub, a Keurig coffeemaker, a glass door fridge holding various flavored creamers for the coffee, a basket of snacks - all complimentary - we could not have asked for more. Each morning breakfast was a broa assortment of delicious items: homemade omelet cups, bagels, fruit, yoghurt, oatmeal, as well as several juice options and coffee/tea. Each evening, a different winery hosted a tasting at the hotel, and the restaurant, The Taste, next door, an amazing foodie restaurant, brought in appetizers. Last but not least each evening were fresh baked cookies. Thank you, everyone at Rest Hotel who made our stay so perfect! We sincerely appreciate all of you!

The staff at Rest have done an excellent job working with the new Covid 19 requirements. We felt completely comfortable in our stay. The continental breakfasts they are making are wonderful. We ordered dinner at Taste and they delivered it to the hotel. We ate out in the lobby and it was as good as ever. If you are considering a trip to Amador county, go for it. All of the wineries are doing a top notch job following the rules and it is not crowded at all!

We spent one lovely night at Rest. We were greeted at the front desk by Amy who was so welcoming and friendly. She got us all settled into our room, treated us to a goodie bag with wine, cookies and hotel info, and made sure we had all the info we needed to get dinner in the area that night.

Our room was comfy and perfectly clean. An amazing bed, easy to control climate control, and bottles of water made sure we got
a great night sleep.

Everyone staying at the hotel was friendly and kind - a vibe set by the hotel.

We were grateful for the car charger in the parking lot.

Really can't think of a single "con" to add to this review. If you have the chance to stay at Rest, you won't regret it!

My husband and I enjoyed another great experience at Rest Hotel, this is our favorite spot for a local getaway. The staff is always friendly, super helpful, the hotel is quiet, rooms are large and the beds are comfortable. In room coffeemaker, robes, mini fridge, hair dryer -- there is a long list of amenities they provide. Each of the rooms we have stayed in has a balcony too. Great location in the Amador Wine Country. We'll be back!

A quick getaway to Amador County lead us to Rest Hotel which was delightful in everyway! The staff that welcomed us and made us feel safe, welcome and attended our every need. The room was well appointed and was convenient base camp for exploring wine country, goldmining towns and hiking. We could walk next door to Taste Restaurant and have world class food and wine. There to the staff was welcoming attentive and knowledgeable. Looking forward to returning for a longer stay.

We had a great time at Rest. When we arrived we learned a bird had gotten into our room. They did not want us to wait while they worked to remove the bird without hurting it, they upgraded us to another room. The only minor thing we noticed is the beds are high. My spouse kidded she had to take a running start. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again.

The one caution I have is not related to the hotel. It is the days you pick to stay. We stayed on a Monday & Tuesday and some of the eating options we wanted to try were closed. Minor inconvenience as there were still good options. One being Taste which is next door and really good.

My wife and I decided to spend Christmas in the Plymouth area for many reasons including wine tasting and Christmas Eve dinner at Taste, an OUTSTANDING restaurant in Plymouth. We knew about Rest and had never been there or seen it. We were absolutely thrilled and impressed with the hospitality, environment, and cannot recommend this facility too strongly. What a wonderful experience, perhaps one of the best experiences we've had in 40 years of travel, both locally, nationally, and internationally. If you want a truly welcoming and hospitable place where you will be treated like royalty in the middle of one of Northern California's fastest growing (in terms of quality wines), you have to give them at least a one night stay.

They close the Desk at 9:00 PM. I do not know if they have arrangements for late arrivals. They run a very small staff so late arrival is a major imposition on the staff.
