We stayed at the Cary mid week. Very nice 'kitchenette' and large room. Shower was excellent and they have soft water. There was 'kinda' a view, but we were out and about most of the time so didn't care. Good bed and very clean. I liked the fact that it was more of a room than just a bed. We...

When you book this hotel you have to know you are booking an old western style hotel that has been preserved in its original style. I personally liked that it was kept exactly that way. Some of the furniture is a bit dated but comfortable. The rooms mostly are large with a kitchenette in most. The elevator is the only...

Historic hotel right in the middle downtown Placerville. Cary House is in a great location if want to wander around and enjoy a sunny fall afternoon. We booked our room through Trip Advisor and when we arrived we were greeted by very friendly staff and actually received an unexpected upgrade. Our room consisted of a small kitchenette, living room/sitting area...

I will try not to be verbose, but this is important folks. My wife and I were "guests" there in September of 2016. We were visiting Placerville and walking around the town and knew we needed a place to stay so we came upon "Historic Cary House Hotel" and decided to give it a try. It was about 10pm when...

My friends made the reservations at the Cary Hotel in downtown Placerville because of it being historic and right in downtown. It wasn't that anything about it was awful, just different. I guess quaint is a good word for the hotel. There are so many things I would change to keep up with modern times, like the bedding. We stayed...

Great historic property that has been updated with modern conveniences. Well maintained interior shows patina of time, not a mindless change to make things "new". Let the vintage be the vintage. Private baths, wifi, flatscreen tv, comfortable room and bed. Smaller rooms than chains, but plenty of room and vintage fixtures. Will certainly return.

Definitely not a chain hotel; charming in its own way. Because of the age of the building, there are signs everywhere reminding you that it might take 10 minutes for hot water to reach your bathroom, that only one person with luggage or two people can ride in the elevator (which does not level with the floors) at one time....

I stayed Thursday - Monday for my 10 year high school reunion. Awesomly historic hotel (don't stay if you don't like old buildings) with awesome staff. Very clean, and everyone was very helpful and nice. There is street noise from the bars on Main Street, but I'm a city boy so it didn't bother me.

Stayed here for three days. The hotel is historic, but, it isn't well maintained. It trades on photos of western figures, but, does not provide the quality of stay OR cleanliness that one would expect for the price.
