This was our 2nd time staying at the Cliff’s Hotel & Spa. The dog friendly rooms are great, the views are spectacular. Beach access and plenty of places to eat and play nearby. Exceptional stay!!! We will be back soon.
Everything about the Cliffs exceeded our expectations. We stayed in an oceanfront ground floor suite, as we were traveling with our pet but still wanted that beautiful ocean view. The room absolutely lived up to its description online, which is such a rarity these days! Everything was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. We dined at Marisol and were really blown away by the quality of the food. We expected things to be average since you're a bit of a "captive audience" when staying there, but it exceeded expectations and our servers were friendly and lovely. Overall, the Cliffs was a great find and we can't wait to return!
Wonderful staff! Beautiful property! Good amenities! Only 10 minutes away from San Luis Obispo. Gorgeous views of the ocean and easy access to the beach. Dog friendly! Very close to wine country. Close to CPSLO providing a nice landing after being on a college campus all weekend!
From booking to check-out my experience at The Cliffs was top-knotch. I booked the trip as a last minute end-of-work-trip treat yo' self stay, and am so glad I did. I called the hotel directly and was booked in a beautiful room with amazing views of both the pool area (with amazing waterfall that doubled as ambient noise), and the ocean. From there check-in was a breeze. Skylar (sp) was able to accommodate an early check-in which allowed me to work from my hotel room, and then spend the afternoon at the pool. I ordered a cocktail from Marisol, and then later ordered from Marisol for room service (the avocado chop salad is amazing)! The next day I leisurely checked out - the valet was so kind (I believe his name was Bryan) and offered me a cold bottle of water for the road. Overall, The Cliffs was the perfect mid-week refresh I needed. As a solo-female traveler I felt very safe, and well taken care of. I am so happy to have stayed here and look forward to enjoying a longer stay here again in the future, when I will have more time to explore the surrounding areas.…
Stunning view, immaculate spaces, and wonderful staff. A trip to remember. The ocean walk is one of the most beautiful on the Pacific Coast, and the towns (Avila Beach, Pismo Beach, Grover Beach) were interesting in themselves.
Stunning views, great hotel and amenities. Pool was so warm and fun. Restaurant nice but we chose to order food in. Great location even if a couple of miles out of Pismo. Definitely a place to grab a good wine and sit and watch the sunset. Staff were great too.
Had a cliff signature room with king bed. Room was ok size. Not tight, but not big either. Bathroom was small (see below) We were on the 4th floor of the 5 floors. Balcony overlooked the pool and good ocean view up and down the coast. Not sure how much a view you would have if you were below the 3rd floor. The photos of the room on the hotel website were fairly representative of the room. Bed was comfortable, but would shake when my spouse would move around or get out of bed (something I have not experienced at a hotel in a long time). So I suspect it was just a poor bed. Bathroom however was rather small. I never saw any pictures of the bathroom on the hotel website and I think the reason was because of how small it was. It had one of the smallest toilets I have ever seen (thought they were standard but this one seemed very small and low). If anyone opened the door while you were on the toilet your legs would get hit. Two people could be in the bathroom at the same time but would be in each others way. There was a bathtub with shower. While adequate, I and I think most modern hotels provide a walk in shower these days. There was one sink , but it had a reasonable amount of counter space. Room had a refrigerator, safe, decent size desk, couch, good amount of plugs around the desk (including several USB outlets) and plenty of lights. Service was excellent throughout. From the valets, to check in, to housekeeping and restaurant. Self parking was usually full but the resort fee included valet parking. We never used the pool as it was always packed. The pool area was pretty and had a what looked like only a few dozen chaises, but the pool area is not really big enough, in my view, for the size of the hotel and number of guests. It is a resort hotel after all…with a resort fee! But we were able to use our balcony to sit, read, and enjoy the wonderful view of the ocean. Big issue for me however was the “high speed internet”…which for me was not even close to high speed. Slow , sporadic and weak signal (sometimes my ipad was loading so slowly it was like old dial up speed). For the most part I had one bar (plus the dot) of wifi on my devices (laptop, ipad, iphone etc). and then many times while I was trying to remotely connect to my office the signal would dropout and I would have to reconnect. While these issues may have been the location of our room, its not acceptable at any hotel these days…let alone one of this level, and especially for the price of the room and a hotel that charges a resort fee that supposedly is charging you for this “high speed service”. Highly recommend the hotel restaurant, the Marisol. We had a wonderful dinner there, with fantastic service, which I am reviewing separately. I had not realized how far from town the location of the hotel is. I thought I could walk into town but it was about 2.5 miles. So it’s a bit of a pain having to drive all the time to get anywhere and aside from the other two hotels next door, not much else around. On the other hand, the hotel is a lot quieter than would be found at the hotels in town...and of course the views. While overall I would recommend a stay at the hotel.…
Traveler beware - this is not a spa hotel. I've traveled far and wide to many countries & stayed in many spa resorts. The Cliffs Hotel is nothing like a spa. My husband and I stayed for a weekend (3 nights). Big mistake! We thought this hotel would be a relaxing spa experience at Pismo Beach. We soon discovered this location is also a very popular wedding site. It was also obviously the height of summer and family vacation time. The hotel was loaded with kids and dogs and back-to-back weddings! It was literally a zoo! We had a beautiful beach front room, and the location and view was stunning, however we couldn't really enjoy much of our ocean view balcony because of all the intense noise, wedding commotion, kids playing and running around screaming, and even a drone buzzing and hovering right over us! We felt like we were in some sort of amusement park - but it wasn't amusing! At night, the wedding commotion and terrible loud thumping music was the ultimate assault on all our senses. We were frazzled by 10pm each night when we could finally enjoy a few minutes of quite time before we went to sleep. Each day and each night was the same and by the end of the 3 days, we felt like we needed a vacation from the madness we had just endured. There was not a single feeling of "spa" throughout our stay aside from very welcoming, professional and friendly staff. If you would like to experience this hotel and enjoy the location, enter at your own risk of leaving completely frazzled!…
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at The Cliffs! The scenery, poolside scenery and attention to detail the hotel offers is what really makes everything so nice. Strolls along the cliff, going down to the beach and hanging out by the pool and grounds of the hotel was so relaxing. Marisol restaurant was awesome and the drinks were great. We have stayed at other hotels in pismo/Avila but this is by far been our favorite! Def. Coming back.
We are doing a roadtrip across the west of the usa and stayed in this hotel. Wow… what a beauty! One of the best we stayed im. Nice, clean rooms, a very good restaurant and the nicest staff!! Deffff recommend!!
