The Inn at the Cove is celebrated for its serene atmosphere and stunning ocean views, which many guests enjoy from the comfort of spacious, clean rooms. A highlight for numerous travelers is the private beach access and well-kept grounds, including a pool and jacuzzi.
While the staff's friendliness and helpfulness receive accolades, alongside a variety of breakfast options, some visitors mention that improvements could be made in room cleanliness and breakfast quality. Despite its picturesque location and amenities, a few guests feel that the hotel's cost does not fully match the value provided.

Detailed Reviews
The Inn at the Cove far exceeded my expectations and receives my highest recommendation.
I also recommend splurging and booking a room with a full ocean view. You won’t regret it! I never grew tired of opening my door and listening to the water or watching the birds fly by. The hotel provides binoculars in every room which would be amazing during whale watching season too.
The room was elegantly furnished and immensely comfortable. I stayed for five days. Due to COVID-19, the rooms are not cleaned daily which I appreciate, and yet the Inn has made requesting new amenities such as towels or shampoo as simple as sending a text message. New supplies are immediately delivered upon request.
The landscaping is stunning. There is a private beach that I walked to each evening to enjoy the sunset, although there are also small groupings of chairs and two person swings set up throughout the property to give everyone their own peaceful place to enjoy the views quietly.
You are a nice walk or short drive away from Pismo Pier. I did both. The Pier is probably about two miles away. Everything is exceptionally close and yet you feel isolated and tranquil. It is the perfect combination in my opinion!

I liked this cozy & neat hotel. Check in & check out was fast. We stayed in Oceanview king room, nice ocean view from the room & balcony. This is a non smoking hotel, cannot smoke in the balcony, they have designated smoking areas. The room & bathroom was very clean, bed & pillows were comfortable. The complementary breakfast was better than other hotels that give muffin, apple & juice in a packet. They had boiled eggs, cereals, breads, bagels, jam, jelly, cream cheese, butter, fruits, juices, coffee machine etc. we enjoyed walking around and the view is amazing, many opportunities to take nice photos. I recommend this hotel & will come back.

This hotel is great, for a number of reasons. First, it is super pet friendly. We stayed here for 4 nights with our two dogs. The rooms have been nicely renovated and BIG, plenty of room for all of us. It is quiet, since it’s not located right in the middle of Pismo. It’s a short walk to fun restaurants in Shell Beach, and it’s walkable to Pismo as well. Even though their breakfast has been reduced due to COVID restrictions, there was still a great selection to choose from and we were very satisfied. When we went, they were limiting room cleanings, but the staff was very prompt to respond to any needs we had including new linens and towels. The text feature they have for communication makes it really easy! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, whether you have pets or not. It is an incredible value for the price!

My wife and I spent a wonderful 5 days at Inn at the Cove. Kind, efficient, friendly, helpful staff throughout. This is how a hotel/motel should be run! The room we stayed in was beautiful and well maintained. While sitting on our balcony enjoying breakfast one morning we could see a maid cleaning one of the rooms below us. She disinfected all the balcony furniture and railing. Every inch!
I am OCD and took interest in the length of time they took to clean each room after guests checked out. It was lengthy and impressive. I could go on and on but I need to get back to work. We will be back.

Pros: fantastic views right on the cliff overlooking the ocean, with access to beach if you don't mind the hike down the stairs.
Cons: (1) we did not realize that this is a two-story hotel, and that upstairs rooms are (somehow) reserved separately. Sound insulation overhead is minimal, so we heard the people upstairs all day and all night, keeping us awake. Staff said they could not move us upstairs after the first night, so we obtained earplugs. I cannot recommend this hotel unless you can be assured of an upstairs room.
(2) we booked this hotel with the understanding they had an electric vehicle charger; I even confirmed this verbally on a phone call to the hotel. However, when we arrived we discovered the charger does not work (specifically the level 2 J-1772 charger; the separate Tesla charge does apparently work). Staff appeared unconcerned when I explained the problem, just saying to the effect, "gee, I guess we should get it repaired."
(3) breakfast is decent but nothing special. Some hard-boiled eggs, packaged biscuits, little packaged cereal bowls, premade waffles. Minimal fruit or fresh items. I realize that these days it's tough to provide fresh items, but it was disappointing.

Stellar everything, with two caveats. Beautiful property; rooms have balconies with comfortable chairs to take in the great views. Exceptionally clean, well-appointed rooms with fun amenities like binoculars to take in the ocean life, comfy robes, along with a mini fridges and wine glasses/openers to enjoy a glass of wine or two. The property has great view, cozy cliffside nooks with chairs to enjoy your morning coffee or just get a little R&R. Complimentary breakfasts to-go accommodating COVID requirements. Also, no concerns about COVID from us given the precautions staff took, outside access to rooms and how clean the rooms actually were — also, no carpets in the rooms which we considered a bonus to ensure it’s cleanliness. The staff were great, as well.
The downsides (for us): First, the beds were overly firm — we were expecting a cozy, soft bed to go along with all the other great amenities, and unfortunately that just wasn’t the case. If you like firm beds, you’d probably not mind, but for us it just wasn’t great. Next, the doors to the rooms didn’t seal well and let in noise and light. You could hear the traffic from the highway and people walking and talking outside. If the hotel could upgrade their room doors that would help the issue a lot. We ran the fan on the a/c unit to drown out the noise while we slept, so that worked for us.
Overall, we’d definitely book here again and rate our stay as “very good.” If the beds and doors were upgraded, It would be perfect!

I could go on and on about how beautiful the property is, how great the room is, the value of what you get for the price but what sets this hotel apart is the customer service. Since we arrived we have been treated with nothing but genuine kindness. Upon arrival both Daniel and Danielle were very kind and professional. We were greeted with a glass of Wine and they even took a picture of our Pomeranian which they posted on their lobby wall of Guest's pet's. The next day Cynthia and Cherrie greeted us in the office with complimentary Mimosas that were bottomless (very nice touch). The complimentary breakfast goes beyond the standard Continental breakfast that other hotels offer. If you are staying anywhere in the Pismo Beach area you owe it to yourself to stay at Inn at the Cove.

This is our 2nd stay at inn at the cove, and we will be back! With every room having an ocean front view, you can’t go wrong.... additionally if you book early enough the rates are very affordable! The front desk attendants knew my husband and I by name after the first meeting, every request we had was quickly handled. The rooms are clean and have fantastic patios to enjoy the amazing view. Additionally there is a fantastic beach cove that makes you feel like you have the whole beach to yourself! Love this place!

Loved loved this room and property. Customer service was unmatched.I wish it was slightly more of a resort as in I wanted a bar/ restaurant on property and maybe a larger pool. The rooms were gorgeous. The view was unmatched. The balconies are very nice. I especially loved the reclining chairs overlooking the ocean. Recommendations to hotel to match the beauty and customer service level of the location is better toiletries they felt very cheap, better towels, maybe some loungers set up at the beach?

Private beach and gorgeous views...fresh and clean room
W hardwood floors. I would give housekeeping c+ maybe a b - wanted the bathroom
A little more sparkly.. it’s a hike
Back up from
Beach up flights of stairs which is good because after sitting for hours you need a Calorie burn. It’s a rocky and kelp type beach...and the hotel
Would be more of a motor inn very close to highway so loud, small lobby, but you can grab cold drinks from them to take to beach, little breakfast bar area in morning. It’s foggy here and not in town which would be the drawbacks . Probably quieter for same reasons. We enjoyed the downtown -great ice cream and dining and surf shops and spent our time going there and slo and outlets by car. We did sit at the cove beach a few days and down in Pismo which was way more crowded the Other . Pool not open yet. I would stay here again for sure, but may try a downtown hotel such as inn at the pier next time
To see if we like staying where action is. Pismo is preferable to Avila for the beach and shops and dining. There is a bird feces smell when you sit on the Adirondacks on point

Hi, unfortunately we don't have a bike rental on property.
Hello, dogs are allowed on the lawn, OceanFront Terrace, SeaMist Terrace, and RoofTop Terrace. Dogs are not allowed in the pool area or allowed to be left alone in guestrooms. Dogs are allowed on the beach when leashed.
Hello Deborah, it is true that some hotels in Pismo Beach are affected by the smell of the birds but or hotel is not close enough to the birds that it is an issue.
In Feb 2019, there was a wide staircase down to a cove of a beach that was open.
No, I don’t believe there was anything like that to pay
