This was the third time we stayed here and have enjoyed it every time. All rooms have an ocean front view with balcony or patio at a reasonable price, but ask for a third floor room for optimal viewing. Staff is friendly and efficient. During our stay, maid service was limited due to COVID, though I think it was more a staffing problem since everything was "open" in July. Gym and laundromat available. Breakfast available (yogurt, juice, cereal, coffee, pastries). Inn is a short walking distance to pier, shops and restaurants. Beach access down steep staircase or walk to the pier area where beach is more accessible. You cannot find a better place in Pismo for location and price!

Some close friends who go to Pismo every year told us about the kon-tiki and how great it is. Of course the ocean view is magnificent and because it was suggested oh, we took the third floor. The room is spacious and bright and everything was very clean with recent upgrades. We appreciated the bedside lighting with ports for plugging in cell phones. Because we took a king bed there was a small reclining couch in our room along with a small table and two chairs where we enjoyed playing cards and in the morning having our breakfast. Breakfast is offered from 7 to 10 every morning and they offer a nice assortment breakfast foods. Because of covid they don't come in and change your bed but every morning we were there we would get a tap on our door from housekeeping offering to empty cans, give us fresh towels and anything else that we needed. We stayed five days and it was marvelous. Our room was very quiet and we seldom heard people even though we watched people on the beach and down below from our wonderful balcony. If you want to walk on the beach you have to go down 108 steps. We chose to walk on the sidewalks around the grounds. We left our sliding door open at night to enjoy the sound of the ocean, magnificent! We can't wait to go back. Oh, and I forgot to mention prices at the kon-tiki are very reasonable.

Let preface this by saying, the hotel is doing the best it can under circumstances beyond their control. Kon Tiki has the best ocean view in Pismo Beach. Yes it is 110 steps down to the beach but you can enjoy the view from the grass area without the steps. Here are the covid modifications as of July 30, 2020. Pool is open from 10 to 6 but you can only reserve it for one hour and you must either reserve swimming or deck area with a view of the ocean. You may only get a quarter of the pool to swim in depending on the number of people, so reserve early. They to provide a decent continental breakfast for in room eating. Maids only empty trash and exchange towels, no linen service, again as a precaution for covid. Almost ever restaurant in Pismo will deliver to the Kon Tiki.

We only paid less than $100 for four people during the Christmas season. The room was a bit dated but still very clean. Prior to arriving I requested for a top-floor room with a good view and they gladly gave it to us. Although we didn't spend much time inside the hotel and use the pool, we enjoyed the quiet atmosphere around the hotel. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The breakfast was standard continental fare but the dining room was kept clean by the staff. I would stay here again if I happen to be in Pismo Beach.

I decided to take a chance on this hotel because of all the great reviews, and the lower price compared to most hotels in the area. We were very impressed! The furnishings and decorations in the room are not as updated as I thought they would be, and rooms do you need some updating, but everything else is pretty fantastic. Every room has an ocean view, a decent size balcony with tables and chairs, large rooms, gorgeous views of everything, easy access to the beach, and walking distance to the pier. Customer service was outstanding. I really loved that our room came with a king bed, and a queen bed, instead of two queen beds as most hotels traditionally have. This is one of the few times I’ve stayed a hotel where I felt like I could relax and enjoy the ocean from my room, despite always getting rooms with ocean views. I also love that they offer continental breakfast. Additional pluses are the free access to the gym in the same parking lot, and laundromats on site.

Sidenote… We tried Vista, the restaurant site, and we would not recommend it at all. It’s conveniently located, and a great atmosphere, but their food is not very well, and they forgot several items in our orders. Very overpriced. Luckily, the hotel is in walking distance to a ton of fantastic restaurants!

Room Tip: Do not eat at the restaurant on site, Vista. Not worth the money.

I have been coming to this beautifully located motel for over 15 years. It used to be a very reasonable price, so there was no expectation of luxury. Now at over $300 a night for a double room, I expected a corresponding improvement in amenities.
The Good: The rooms are clean and updated, have a beautiful view, and comfortable beds with extra pillows. There is good lighting and it is quiet. We enjoyed the lazy boy reading chairs. The pool has a lovely view of the sea.

What needs improvement: Bathroom: Two thin bars of soap and a small tube of shampoo are provided with thin scratchy towels. No robes, no plush towels, body wash, hair conditioner, or lotion. Terrible coffee machine. Big screen TV with no ability to use my Netflix or Amazon, only commercial TV. There were not any umbrellas at the pool provided for shade and the beach towels are tiny. The breakfast room is utterly depressing, with crowded tables clustered under ugly fluorescent lights, industrial packaged and artificially flavored foods, cold hard-cooked eggs, picnic ware, and more bad coffee.

I'm not sure there is anything much better on the central coast, so I guess it is what it is.

We stayed 4 nights and had a great time. All rooms have a view of the ocean, and you can sleep to the sound of waves. There is a good restaurant next door or you can take a short 1/2 mile drive to town. You can also take the short walk on the beach to town. We will return.

Friends recommended this Inn to us, so we booked it for the one night we were going to be passing through Pismo. Check in was quick, and the girl at the desk gave us a good recommendation for dinner nearby. All rooms face the ocean and have a private balcony. Our room was large, a bit dated but clean and comfortable. There was even a reclining love seat. The bed was comfortable. We were on the third floor overlooking the pool and hot tub. It's a beautiful view. We slept with our balcony door open, just the screen door closed so we fell asleep and woke up to the sound of the waves crashing. We always sleep with a fan on, so this was perfect for us. Very peaceful. In the morning there was breakfast included. I made myself some waffles, they were delicious. Our only regret is that we didn't have more time to stay here!

I have passed by this spot many times on the street side and it didn't look like anything special. Then a few years back, I saw it from the beach side and thought it looked wonderful.

Every room is an ocean view, the rooms are quiet and roomy, although on the older side as the screen door was not very smooth and the water pressure is a bit weak.

The small inconveniences were worth it for the price you pay for this location. The pool and one of the two hot tubs overlook the beach providing a relaxing stay. Breakfast is simple and is on the other side of the parking lot. No big deal as you can ask for a tray and bring it back to your oceanview room to enjoy.

I would definitely stay here again, although you would want to book early as most of the time they are fully booked on the weekends.

Clean, reasonable, location is within walking distance of downtown and the pier, and every room has a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. They also DO NOT tolerate noisy patrons which makes this destination so desirable.

We had a little family emergency, unrelated to the hotel and the staff was extremely helpful and professional. Will come back soon.
