What a beautiful place. We stayed in the Master Suite which had a deck that overlooked the koi pond and the vineyard and mountains. The room was spacious and elegant. The light breakfast that was in the fridge was perfect. There are 7 wineries within walking distance. The restaurant in the complex, Stone and Embers had delicious food. We will... More

Two couples traveled together. We had a goldie so were recommended to stay in The Kitchen suite, and my sister stayed in The Masters suite. Our room is spacious and more than ok to stay with our goldie and the Masters is nice and unique setting with the sitting area and the patio, reminded me of some Italian farmhouse stays... More

We love the property. It has a very nice yard. We loved that. The room was clean and nicely stocked and it was a comfortable stay and bed. I will return for sure. It was our 3rd visit. Its a quiet area for adults who want perfect weather wine and food.

Over all we had a nice stay. A little disjointed trying to check in, finally went to one of the tasting rooms to get in our room. The room was pretty clean, toilet could have used something to get the ring out, I don't think anyone had stayed in the room for awhile. There was a tile step that was... More

We stayed in the Spare Rooms. We had a nice suite, very comfortable bed, lovely surroundings. They do provide maid service now. There was a refrigerator, microwave, and Nespresso machine. A nice touch was that they provided cereal, yogurt, milk, banana bread, and juice, so we did not have to go out for breakfast. The gardens are beautiful. Very peaceful... More

This is a beautiful property! The rose gardens is the most beautiful that I've ever seen. Our room was spacious and well appointed in every way, just very comfortable. I felt like we were staying in a private mansion. Our room came with complimentary tasting at all of the 4 onsite tasting rooms, although we only made it to one... More

We stayed 2 nights in the Master and had a wonderful experience! Cindy made everything special, including flowers and champagne in our room. The room itself was perfect - large, private, gorgeous views and tastefully decorated. The restaurant (Stone & Embers) had delicious food & great local wines and beers (our favorite meal of the weekend). Having the tasting rooms... More

We love the Anderson Valley and this place in particular. If you want to experience how Napa and Sonoma were 40 years ago you should spend some time here. Some people in the past were bothered by the noise of construction but now it seems to be completely built out. Only noise was from the highway but the rooms are... More

We stayed here (two couples) in the Estate II quarters and it was very wonderful. We had a very lovely 2 bedroom suite with good size dining-living room/kitchenette and a wonderful shared bathroom. Beautiful furniture and décor through out (Pottery Barn meets the Orient). The European kitchenette was perfect for making most any meal with quality cookware, flatware, dishes and... More

We had such an enjoyable day and night in the Garden Room. The room itself was spacious and well adorned. Loved the huge double shower and views to the lovely gardens where we could wander and sip wine 😊! Natasha was very helpful and gracious and brought us some delicious banana bread for our breakfast.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As seen in Sunset, Food & Wine and Departures Magazines, The Madrones is an Agriturismo style destination which offers just four luxurious guest quarters for travelers who seek something unique and intimate in rural setting. This is not a hotel or B&B, so the service is very low touch...no daily maid service is provided. Perfect for travelers looking for a place to get away without someone hovering over you. If you are looking for accommodations rich in amenities, such as spas, restaurants, room service & breakfast, this is probably not a good fit. Surrounded by vineyards and wineries in the heart of the Anderson Valley, this Mediterranean styled compound which was originally a home and private business has garnered prestigious national awards and recognition. The property has four separate tasting rooms offering local small lot wines, as well as a curiosity store, cheese counter and private gardens. ... more   less
