First of all, depsite the name, it's NOT a cafe with a hotel attached, in fact it's a boutique hotel themed like a Parisian cafe. Breakfast in the "cafe" is included with fresh-made crepes, pour-over coffees, and a few other goodies, but for instance there's no menu to order from, nor can the public walk into the "cafe" for a meal. The downstairs is packed with various French knick-knacks, many of them older and authentic, so it's not so much a reproduction of modern Paris or any one time period but a bit more whimsical (think "Moulin Rouge" and maybe a bit of Disneyland thrown in). But no denying it's fun and the cafe part is very tasty. Rooms try to be older French style but with modern touches (the giant flat-screen TV is the only really anachronism). Beds are comfy, bathrooms generous but not not modern (we had a claw-foot tub), hallways narrow, but everything's clean as a whistle. Parking lot can fill up but ample and safe street parking is only a 2-minute walk away. Check it out, it's fun and memorable.

Had a lovely stay at Metro Hotel in Petaluma. It felt extremely authentic, and brought me back to my days living in France. They have rooms within the hotel as well as airstreams that you can book. We booked an airstream which was a unique experience if you’re looking to do some city glamping. Service was great & an added bonus was the fresh crepes & coffee they serve every morning (including all the fixings- strawberries, bananas, Nutella, etc ) would highly recommend!

Although our opinion about the hotel is pretty positive - we definitely would consider to stay here again - also considering the nice town of Petaluma - we wouldn't give a five out of five as many others do, considering the below; In general, the hotel can be called quirky, however the 'European' touch may be slightly overdone -  with a risk of becoming kitsch -, but that's probably a matter of taste. Welcome was unusual, but definitely not unfriendly. Room smelled a bit dampy, but not too bad. Certain things in the room were repaired, but in such a way, that it looked a bit DIY-ish. Bed small. Dependent on which room you get, it can be a bit of a detour to get there, via several doors (with codes), steps and uneven paths. Simply not the most convenient with big suitcases. During out first night we had a technical issue, (thankfully solved by JD!), which kept us awake as from around 01:30AM. This flooding issue apparently happend before. During a conversation with the owner, two days later, we referred to the issue - 'yes, we had a good night, a lot better than the one prior' - he indicated to have heared about the toilet flooding. Not the slightest apologies though (let alone a discount for the inconvenience, which would not be uncommon given experiences during other of our travels). Note that this is a comment how to deal and communicate in case of issues, not a request for a refund. Owner indicated to reside in Napa. Once asked for tips to visit this town, the only comment was that he didn't drink - well, we just asked for insider tips and given the fact that you are in the hospitality business, we would expect a bit of a different approach -. Breakfast of crepes and coffee not bad. No changes during the week though. Staff preparing breakfast not overly friendly. Young lady at the front desk very friendly & professional. All in all, our experience with this hotel was as said generally okay, but certain aspects did make it seem a bit of one-of-the-projects of the owners, therefore lacking the focus an dedication making it potentially a five out of five experience, however not yet.

I loved the staff. Very comfy bed. Small claw-foot tub had me laughing!!! The goose lamp by the bedside was a very cool touch. I like the historic house feel with the modern amenities. Good coffee in the morning.

I loved this hotel, and will absolutely stay here again whenever I'm visiting the wine country. My room was extremely quiet comfortable, the staff was very friendly without being intrusive, and the fresh crepes and berries for breakfast could not be beat. Sonoma and Napa are full of cookie-cutter, bland, hotels that are pleasant enough but extremely forgettable. This hotel with its retro Parisian vibe was simply fantastic, and will not be readily forgotten!
