There were three of us visiting in January, and we were lucky to have a whole building to ourselves. We didn't expect to have a kitchen, but we had full access and cooked a few meals. Loved using the jacuzzi at nighttime. We woke up early and watched the sunrise. The trails along the beach have some access to the... More

We decided to stop into see this lighthouse, before continuing our trip to the Monterey Peninsula for the weekend. This lighthouse is located along highway 1 and was another place to see a part of the California coast and read about its history. There really is not much to see here in the way of a museum but the view... More

What fun to stay at a lighthouse hostel. The day we arrived, we went to the lighthouse state park's visitor center and learned all about it from a friendly volunteer who looks like an old seaman. I was glad we did that, because it gave us a good appreciation for the history of the lighthouse and the things that have... More

Well, we wanted to stay here as we had stayed previously a few years back. We were on the return leg (back to Canada) of a 9000 km ride to Baja California and back. We remembered the Pigeon Point hostel being close to amazing restaurant in Pescadero (Duarte's Tavern). (featured on Diners Drive-ins and Dives :) ). Well I went... More

My friend and I found this hostel on the hostel international map and decided to stay on a whim. We were driving up the coast via the Pacific Coast Highway and it is right off of Highway 1. The staff were friendly and helpful. They have a hot tub on site that you can use, but you have to schedule... More

Really serene spot. If only all hostels could be like this - waking up to the sound of the Pacific Ocean (waves crashing) and meeting an interesting mix of international travelers (young & old). Be sure to eat at Duarte's Tavern in nearby Pescadero (best sourdough bread ever?). This hostel is Highway 1 at its best.

This property was recommended by a retired senior Canadian couple, and it did not disappoint! It's a spectacular way to truly get away from it all. Staff is wonderful! Clientele is friendly and easygoing, and oh, the view! Refridgerator space is plentiful in the shared kitchen. Beds are well arranged to allow easy foot-traffic. Shared restroom-shower immaculately clean. I did... More

Dear Dunebuggy4, I am really glad you had a great stay! Yes, longer vehicles can park on the side of the road. Hopefully someone will find your wallet and return it to you! I will pass on your positive comments to our staff and especially Julia! :D Jeff Parry, General Manager More

So anyone who frequents hostels knows what they're getting themselves into. You get what you pay for sometimes. This is a pretty bare bones hostel with not a lot of activity going on, but it is cheap and in a beautiful location. Staff is quick and very friendly. Everything is clean as can be, just slightly older than some other... More

This is a very nice hostel, with visitors spread out in 4 buildings, all with ocean views. Each building has a large common area and kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 1 shared bath, and 1 bath attached to the largest bedroom. I stayed here last weekend and my group of 6 took over one of the large bedrooms with attached bathroom. There... More

I did not stay at the Hostel but was able to see the rooms on a recent visit. The rooms are modest and small but very well kept and clean. A better location would be difficult to find! I'm sure hearing the ocean roar helps everyone to sleep. To be able to wake in the morning and have a cup... More
