Hotel Cheval is truly a spectacular place. It is incredibly beautiful, and the staff is kind and accommodating. The staff went out of their way to make my anniversary truly special, which included a complimentary upgrade and a bottle of champagne waiting in our room when we arrived. The gourmet smores, game library, and breakfast in the courtyard all made our stay a truly memorable one. Thank you to the staff at Hotel Cheval for making our stay remarkable!

Hard to believe I can submit a review during Covid times but we braved the pandemic for a safe and relaxing trip to Paso Robles. Hotel Cheval is a lovely smaller boutique hotel. Easy to remain socially distanced from other guests. No elevators. Most guests followed clearly marked directions to wear masks in all public areas though some ignored this. Not hotel’s fault and we could maintain our distance. Stayed two nights in Kingston Suite, on top floor. Has access to an outdoor seating area which, though not private, no-one else used during our stay. Ambiance: excellent. Staff: top notch. Room: very nice and very clean. All hotel staff wore masks. Housekeeping wore masks and gloves. Breakfast served on-site and included. Quite nice and staff is very personable. No dinner served on-site but plenty of restaurants nearby. One comment: Though not big deal, Kingston Suite does get some noise from access street outside, mainly garbage trucks doing pickup. Luckily, didn’t happen during sleeping hours. We felt very safe and could relax and enjoy our holiday. We definitely will stay here again when we visit Paso. Highly recommended.

Although the hotel is right down the street from many busy shops, the experience at the hotel was quiet and felt almost secluded while still being close to all shops, bars and restaurants...great location! We had 2 small dogs with us and the hotel personnel were very respectful and kind to them, what a welcome feeling we had. The rooms are specious and elegant and the courtyard with the many fireplaces are magic place to snuggly in front of in the evening. We will definitely be coming back very soon, whenever Nuisance Newsome opens up our great the state again!

It's really impossible to overstate how much we loved this hotel, its staff, location and service. They had just reopened after months of closure but they did not miss a beat. Booking was very easy. We arrived late and as requested, waiting for us in our room was the mini-fridge (you should request one prior to arrival) and some wine from the Pony Bar. The property is one of the most beautiful ones I've ever experienced. In the center courtyard and on the second floor are multiple seating areas with chairs, sofas, sun umbrellas etc. Two large outdoor fireplaces are wood burning and serve as a perfect spot to unwind with some wine in the evening. Every evening they have made-to-order gourmet smores. The rooms are spacious, well-decorated with a large bathroom. The location cannot be beat. You are literally steps from the city's main square. Within a 5 minute walk are countless restaurants, bars, wine tasting rooms, small shops, etc. The service cannot be beat. Every single worker goes out of their way to deliver the best experience. Every morning there is breakfast (included) with a delicious spread of hot and cold items. At times we honestly felt like we had the entire property to ourselves. We almost didn't believe the manager when she told us they were at maximum capacity. The small size of this boutique hotel makes for a very relaxing stay. Probably my favorite part of this hotel was the ability to completely relax and unwind. My morning routine was to get up around 6:30 and the coffee was always ready in the breakfast room. I would sit in one of the quiet outdoor spaces on a couch and just read and relax. There are VERY few properties that my wife and I return to but this is definitely one of the best! Do yourself a favor if you're coming to Paso Robles. Splurge (even if you're not used to spending this much for a hotel) and treat yourself to a relaxing stay in this small, beautiful boutique hotel. My wife and I travel a lot and this is easily one of, if not the, best small hotels we've ever stayed at. I literally don't have a single complaint or criticism. We plan on coming back in the fall. Management---please pass on to your entire staff what a wonderful experience they are giving to the guests!

Dear Brad1991, Thank you so much for the delightful review. As you know, the last few months have been very difficult for all of us. On re-opening , we were all nervous that our guest experience would be altered by the new, but very necessary protocols that we have in place. I was therefore thrilled to read that you enjoyed your stay with us and could offer such positive feedback. The team will be so happy to read your review, they all work so hard and are incredibly conscientious. I will certainly share your kind words with them all. I was particularly pleased that you were able to enjoy some quiet time in our courtyard, it's the perfect place for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine - perhaps not at the same time! I look forward to welcoming you both back in the fall. Sincerely, Jayne Christman, General Manager

Our 2-day stay had only highlights from the professional processing of our reservation by the exceptional staff to a last minute change in our arrival date -- handled flawlessly! So many amenities -- great, quiet rooms, a bottle of wine to greet you, the Pony Club Happy Hour is great fun and the s'mores provide a sinful diversion from the real world. Spencer is a great s'mores artisan -- thank you. Each day began with a more than ample breakfast with a wide range of healthy foods for all tastes -- thank you ladies! And the 5 minute walk to Paso's best restaurants is yet another plus.
