We stayed at Robin's nest Yurt for the weekend and had a great time. The yurt is so perfect for us and has everything that we needed. As soon as we arrived , Victoria greeted us with a friendly smile and guided us to our place. Victoria helped us to make sure we have everything to be comfortable and helped us a lot to get around the close by trails. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed. Will be back. Thanks

With snow coming down for the weekend, our family was looking for a nice place to spend the weekend and we couldn't have asked for a better place then Bailey's on Palomar. This property is perfect because its tucked away from the main road in a private property so you wont have to deal with people coming up to play in the snow. We were so lucky to have booked the Butternut cottage as it was the last cabin/cottage available and in my opinion, the best one. It has two rooms and it was recently renovated. The cottage also has wifi and all the amenities you would need to have a comfy stay ( towels, sheets, shampoo, utensils, etc) I loved the fact that we didn't have to check in at the office as the cottages come with a door lock that opens up with a code that is provided to you. The cottage had a beautiful fire place, and although the cottage has a very vintage look and feel, everything was up to date and clean. Our back yard is the beautiful view of the mountains and we were lucky enough to see a couple of deer early in the morning. Everything in the cabin worked. We had hot water, electricity and good wifi connection. If we needed anything, the staff was awesome and just a text away. On our first morning I couldn't get the wall heater going and Lane came to turn it on right away. Then if we needed anything else, Victoria would bring it over. On our second day everyone around us checked out and we basically had the property all to ourselves. We got out and played in the snow right next to the pond. Then it started to snow and the beauty of the snow coming down with the backdrop of Palomar Mountain made you feel like you were in a movie. At check out we had the pleasure of meeting Hilda, the HSKP manager, and she was so nice. Giving us some history on the property and offering us a free tour of it and also showing us some of the other cabins/cottages for our future stay. We had such a great time we really didn't want to leave. I highly recommend it to anyone that is looking to have a good time but also that peace and relaxation that only Palomar Mountain can provide.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Kestrel Yurt and we were pleasantly surprised at how well designed, decorated and laid out it is- the online pictures do not do it justice (nor could I capture it in picture either!) So simple, but so perfect, from the old school light bulbs to the copper canisters to the beautiful stone shower. We are definitely recommending it to friends. I also liked the level of contact and information emailed before arrival, made everything easy. We were given key code for the door, so there was no need to stop and check in. Although the yurts have heaters (of the Franklin stove type) I don't know how warm it'd be in winter, given the tent-type siding - so if we do a cold-weather trip, we will do a cabin, but the yurt has celling fans and battery operated fans (limited electricity, but TONS of USB ports). The dirt road in could also be tough in bad weather if you don't have an SUV. And be sure to explore the trail below the yurts and go beyond the pond - the views were spectacular and saw wild turkeys.

This place is extremely lovely, and the camp birdsong we stayed in was well decorated and furnished. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about their service. We found a blanket in a basket which we assumed we can use to warm ourselves outside. As I wrapped myself in the blanket I smelled a very strong stench - it was actually soiled (I think with dried sperm)? I immediately threw it to the ground. The rep next day profusely apologized but offered nothing else. We also had three people in our party, but they never bothered to accommodate us with appropriate number of towels and blankets in the first place. There is no cell reception so no way to call the front office for extra towels and blankets - there's wifi so I emailed the front desk, but unsurprisingly to no avail. The only way you can get help is by flagging one of them down as they drive by your cabin. Also, construction noise coming from nearby yurt getting built. Never coming here again.

Response from Robin Greenspan, General Manager at Bailey's on Palomar
Responded Jul 10, 2020
Hi Jean, I am so sorry your experience with us did not meet your expectations. Perhaps the way we describe what we offer is not clear to everyone. We’ll definitely have another look at that. What we offer at Bailey's is an opportunity to experience the mountain in a beautiful rustic setting with unique, self-service, BnB style accommodations like yurts, historic cabins, and tiny cabins. We are not, nor do we claim to be, a full-service hotel or resort. We do supply certain basics like towels, linens, kitchenware, paper towels, coffee, tea, sugar, salt & pepper, tin foil etc. We generally supply towels and linens based on the number of guests in the reservation. I am sorry we missed your little guy this time but were happy to accommodate as soon as you made us aware of the oversight. We are super careful about cleaning and disinfecting between guests. Our policy is to clean thoroughly, to wash then soak all kitchenware in a bleach solution, spray all touchable surfaces with a disinfectant solution, and send all of our linens to a laundry service who washes and bleaches everything. You’re absolutely right, cell service on the mountain is sparse which is why we offer free wifi through most of the property. Though most of our guests prefer the solitude and lack of intrusion we do have some staff in the office during daytime hours and a small weekend crew mainly for emergencies. I hope I have answered your concerns. Sincerely, Robin

Our family rented out the 3 new yurts to celebrate my daughters 27th birthday. The setting was so beautiful and we enjoyed the local hiking. The Yurts are definitely clamping and the beds are so comfortable. We spent most of the evenings on the outdoor deck and around the fire pit. Robin and Lane are great host and make sure you are comfortable and provide anything needed. If going in the summer just bring some mosquito repellent for hikes. Can not wait to get back up there for another visit.
