No issues with our stay. Staff was nice. Cleaned our rooms daily. Most of the guests were polite and not to loud at night. The parking garage doesn't seem like it was designed well though. There isn't a whole lot of room to make the turn to exit from the parking garage.

Great location, very convenient near Stanford shopping center. Breakfast is very very basic. We can hear the next room quite clearly. The biggest complain is house keeping. Me and a gf stayed for 4 nights . house keeping never Vaccum the floor. I have to clean bathroom floor myself everyday as we have long hairs.

Jenny from the front desk was kind, sweet and super hospitable. My mom and I stayed here for a medical need for my mother, a bit nervous but having such kind staff like Jenny welcome us really made us feel at ease. Thank you to her and everyone else here working hard to make it a great stay.

The room and the bathroom were reasonably comfortable. However, the wifi did not work for the first portion of the stay, which was a major pain. I was getting less than 1 Mbps. When I alerted the front desk, they insisted that I should call the IT support and explain to them the issue. It was clearly an issue with the wifi system, and not my devices. I think a reasonable hotel would have had their own staff deal with this issue, rather than asking their customers to spend their time and labor working with IT. If you are a business traveler and rely on wifi, I'd suggest looking elsewhere just to be safe.

THE GOOD: The hotel was recently renovated, rooms are nicely renovated with beautiful bathrooms. A nice size fitness center and a small but nice pool area. THE BAD: Wifi was absolutely horrible, there was ZERO wi-fi service in the lobby, restaurant or pool area. The Wi-fit would connect for 2 - 3 seconds then drop. When I asked the attended at the café if I could use the Westin Meeting wi-fi I was told no, they don’t have the password. In my room every so often the wi-fi would drop and it would take 20 – 30 minutes to reconnect!!! Furthermore, the power outlet at the desk was dead, there was also no power near the bed to plug in your laptop! Sadly, the food and beverage offerings at this hotel are on par with a Holiday Inn Express. There is no full-service restaurant, just a grab and go café which serves mediocre food. There is a limited breakfast buffet in the morning with poor quality food. On both mornings of my stay the scrambled eggs were a rubbery mess, the breakfast potatoes lacked flavor. The only item that seemed decent to eat were the fresh berries and bread. The quality of the food from room service/grab and go was also upsetting. If you want a full-service dinning experience, you are told to walk over to the Sheraton…. really? BTW: I was told the hotel kitchen is also located at the Sheraton, food is not cooked onsite at the Westin. Hospitality at the hotel is hit and miss. The front desk seems pleasant, but staff were very hesitant to go the extra mile to please… they lacked the hospitality soft skills I have experienced at other hotels of the same caliber. Café staff is very unhelpful, not very friendly, I receive a far better guest experience at my local In-N-Out Burger. In the end if you are expecting an upscale hotel experience in the Palo Alto / Stanford area the Westin disappoints. For the price I would expect a memorable experience, one where you would hate to leave and could not wait to return. During my stay I was looking forward to leaving, I really felt like it was a waste of $$$ and time staying here. When I left, I felt like I had just stayed at a Holiday Inn express with upscale rooms. Hotel should be rebranded... it's not an upscale full service hotel that is about hospitality with a mindset of wellness.

Westin Palo Alto had been my usual place to stay for business travel before the pandemic. Three years later, I had a great stay with my family in the newly renovated Westin Palo Alto. The renovation that happened in 2021 gave the hotel a fresh update. It looks more modern, from the wall to the tiles, to the vanity. We got upgraded to a top-floor suite, thanks to our Titanium status with Marriot Bonvoy. It was perfect for us. It came with a separate living room where we set up an extra bed for our daughter. She loved the cozy room that she claimed for herself. In the suite, there was a small dining table with two chairs which we turned into a poker table to kill time. Our complimentary breakfast was a hot American breakfast buffet with typical fried potatoes, scrambled eggs, and sausage. The quality was good. We particularly liked their muffins. Those small muffins came in different flavors–blueberry, orange, and raisin–and they were delicious! The new gym was located on the second floor. Not an expert in gym equipment, I was impressed by the smart treadmills that can take you to the world through the integrated training videos while you exercise. Lastly, the service was excellent. They set up the extra bed and even a microwave for our suite. On the last night, we got a neighbor who, for some reason, had to talk after midnight (I am sure they had good reasons), which interfered with my sleep. The front desk resolved the issue by moving them to a different room. It was a win-win! Later the hotel manager offered me 20,000 points as a token of apology. I will certainly stay at Westin Palo Alto again next time I am in town.

I hadn't stayed here for 10-12 years, and recent experiences at other Westins were quite tired/damaged rooms, so I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice the property was. The room was immaculately clean, good layout, and upkeep seemed excellent. The staff on property were pleasant and I felt well looked after. My only very minor criticism was no acknowledgement of Platinum status or explanation of benefits while staying. In the past I've stayed for business, but this time I was visiting folks in the area, and it's equally well set up for both scenarios. Looking forward to my next stay here.

-overall hotel is dirty. our room was dirty especially the bathroom shower The floor inside was dirty and the hallway had french fries on the floor and just filthy. Paying 250/300 a night should be much better just dirty. Man who was at the front desk was not genuinely helpful Made us park in the under ground parking which is small and entrance and exit is too small for most cars. dirty

We enjoyed our stay at The Westin Palo Alto. It is convenient to everything in Palo Alto, the staff was very friendly and the hotel is nice. They are doing some renovations and work on site, but everything seemed nice to us. The below ground parking garage is a little tricky getting in and out, but it's possible. We would stay here again if needing to stay in Palo Alto.

We are seeing the characteristic Marriott cheapening affect more and more classic Starwood properties, and now it's Westin Palo Alto's turn to downgrade. They've done an appalling renovation of the lobby area, designed to make the space so loud and hard that no one can have a conversation or think in the space, so the furniture is now all hard seating and get-em-out-quick style. (If one of the two desk agents is speaking with a customer and you want to speak with the other, you have to shout to be heard. They deliberately play loud ugly music over it all, just to make it worse.) They've had a lot of trouble with this renovation and it remains unfinished in many details (guest rooms they're renting half-unfurnished, parking garage half-unusable and a mess), and they're short staffed and depend heavily on the co-owned Sheraton next door for various services. The prices are still high, exploiting the location and the relative lack of nice hotels in Palo Alto, but the value is definitely significantly decreased. We go to PA every year and it's a real question where we'll stay next time after many visits to the Westin.
