We enjoyed our stay at The Westin Palo Alto. It is convenient to everything in Palo Alto, the staff was very friendly and the hotel is nice. They are doing some renovations and work on site, but everything seemed nice to us. The below ground parking garage is a little tricky getting in and out, but it's possible. We would stay here again if needing to stay in Palo Alto.

We are seeing the characteristic Marriott cheapening affect more and more classic Starwood properties, and now it's Westin Palo Alto's turn to downgrade. They've done an appalling renovation of the lobby area, designed to make the space so loud and hard that no one can have a conversation or think in the space, so the furniture is now all hard seating and get-em-out-quick style. (If one of the two desk agents is speaking with a customer and you want to speak with the other, you have to shout to be heard. They deliberately play loud ugly music over it all, just to make it worse.) They've had a lot of trouble with this renovation and it remains unfinished in many details (guest rooms they're renting half-unfurnished, parking garage half-unusable and a mess), and they're short staffed and depend heavily on the co-owned Sheraton next door for various services. The prices are still high, exploiting the location and the relative lack of nice hotels in Palo Alto, but the value is definitely significantly decreased. We go to PA every year and it's a real question where we'll stay next time after many visits to the Westin.

I stayed three nights at the Westin in Palo Alto. The hotel gave me three complimentary breakfast tickets on my arrival, which I really appreciated (breakfast was great!). The room was super spacious, clean, and had all the equipment needed. The pool also has a very nice relaxing area. I really recommend this hotel. The only downside was that the restaurant was closed one day, which was a shame because dinner the night before was very nice!

The hotel is being renovated. The lobby and bar are roped off, so I sat on the floor while waiting to check in. When I asked for somewhere to sit down, the staff suggested I walk next door to the Sheraton. When I asked if they had laundry facilities ,they directed me next door to the Sheraton. When I asked about a business center, they directed me to the Sheraton. When I asked about food and drinks, they sent me to . . . you get the idea. Just stay at the Sheraton.

Checked in today and was told “Sorry but we’re sold out.” Informed them that I had a reservation. Yes, but they are sooo sorry they made a mistake and oversold the rooms. Clearly they don’t know what a “reservation” means. Stuck me next door in worn out Sheraton with low popcorn ceiling. Ugh…

Our family came to stay at the Westin so that we could tour area colleges. While here, we were also surrounded by several business professionals here for work obligations. Our room was next to a business man and, because the walls are so thin and there is a large space under the adjoining door(see picture), we could hear EVERYTHING he did. From a late-night business phone call in which personnel and strategy were discussed to his 4:00 am alarm and subsequent morning routine (including bathroom usage and listening to the news) we got very little sleep. To be clear, he was not a noisy neighbor…he was simply going about his business. Not only am I upset about the sleep we did not get, but I wish to extend caution to anyone who wishes to stay here as there is no privacy. Had we the interest, we could have extracted quite the amount of confidential information from him.

This hotel is terrible. They are doing loud construction and should’ve have guests staying here. The rooms are old and not nice. They moved me to 3 different rooms because AC wasn’t working, none of the rooms ended up having working AC. It’s so loud and a terrible experience. Would not recommend even considering.

We spend 4 nights at the hotel. From check-in to check-out, enjoyed every minutes of it. The hotel is very very close to Stanford, which makes it very easy for us to attend events there. Within walking distance are shops and restaurants. The hotel public area is under renovation, cannot wait to come back when the project is all done. Thank you to CAT, Front Desk Service Agent for her hospitality and great services.

Good hotel with all necessary amenities. We got upgraded to a suite. The room has a chimney which is nice. The big plus is the continental breakfast which provides a good variety of good quality and healthy choices.

This wasn't a very relaxing weekend stay for us. The "Preferred Starwood Member" room we received was fine, but nothing extraordinary. It was a nice, larger size room and nicely furnished, but again, nothing special. As others have commented, we had to go next door to the Sheraton to eat, but I think that's a temporary situation while they remodel. The walls and floors are very thin and you hear every conversation next door to your room and every footstep above your room. The train noise was excessive and kept us awake until 11:30 pm on Saturday night when it finally stopped. On Sunday morning, I was awakened at 9 am by the cleaning folks across the hall yelling to each other and vacuuming. I opened the door twice to ask them to please stop, but they were too far inside the room and yelling too loudly to hear me calling to them. We wouldn't recommend. Oh, and if you self-park your car ($20 instead of valet at $25), approach the toll booth slowly when you exit, as it's a real sharp turn and easy to damage your vehicle.
